A tour of the RSC's new home - in pictures

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre

Today the Royal Shakespeare Company opens its new £112.8 million home in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Yesterday, a group of us were given a guided tour of the building. It’s a rather wonderful fusion of old and new - both re-assuringly familiar to those who loved the old Royal Shakespeare Theatre, but also radically transformed.

ACE cuts: where the axe is falling

A marker of the times, The Stage has created an interactive map of the cuts to theatres and performing arts organisations and services across the country.

We have mapped Arts Council England’s cuts to its regularly funded organisations for 2011-12 first because this information has been published. Cuts to venues in Scotland and Wales will follow when those budgets have been set.

Also, we hope to keep track of local authority cuts throughout the country. If you would like to tell us about a council axing its arts budget in your local authority, please email me at natalie [at] thestage.co.uk.

Notes

  • All the information above has been compiled from Arts Council England’s website
  • Companies are placed on the map according to their administrative address, although touring companies may operate elsewhere or over a larger area.
