As the final for I’d Do Anything approaches, we’re lining up something special for those of you who, like me, have been following the show every week.
As you should know by now, Zoe Tyler, vocal coach and judge on How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do, has been reviewing every episode of I’d Do Anything for our weekly print edition. I’ve been doing the same online, on our TV Today blog.
Next week, we’ll be recording a podcast discussing the final three would-be Nancies, looking back over the series and talking about whatever takes our fancy.
Which is where you come in.
If you have a question or conversation topic that you’d like Zoe or I to discuss, then either leave your question in the comments below, or email it to podcasts@thestage.co.uk. Naturally, we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to use every submission, but we’ll do oour best to cover as much as we can.
Get you questions in by 10am Tuesday morning — and listen out to see if we use your question! The podcast previewing the I’d Do Anything final will be availble to listen to online and download from Thursday.
Note: You can sign in below with a number of different ID systems, including LiveJournal, TypeKey, or any system which supports OpenID (there are several). Alternatively, click “comment anonymously” and specify your name (or nickname) and your email address.

I don't have a question but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the early departures of the labled "professionals" (Francesca and Sarah) this year.
Thanks
Laur
I think that Rachael or Jodie have to win. The others will NOT be able to with-stand 8 shows a week. I've worked in the West End and Broadway in various shows, and I know how hard it is! If Samantha wins, I might kill my own eye!
So good luck girls!
Do the girls have any say in which songs they sing each week? Can a girl say "No" to a song?
Who chooses the outfits the girls wear? Can a girl say "No" to a dress? The stylist should be fired!
Who are you supporting?? I think they could all handle 8 shows a week but for me I see Jessie as the best Nancy. x
What will happen to the winner between now and the opening of the show? Will they get any special support, etc.?
I feel that the show has lacked a vocal coach as a judge, I've almost (not quite) forgiven you for the bit rubbish comment Zoe! Leaving personal feelings aside, if possible, do you agree?
If it were on vocals alone, who from the final 12, is or was Nancy? And the same question but on acting skills alone? and finally, who, visually, is or was your ideal Nancy?
How do you rate the standard of the final 12 Nancies against the final 10(?) Marias and 12 Josephs? And similarly for the three finalists in each competition?
I'm interested to know how many complaints the BBC have got about Barry H's inappropriate comments. Although it is the singers show, the judges are an important part. It pains me to say, Zoe was missed. There I've said it.
I'd like to second the comment above about the dresses. We did have some flashes of excellence, but mostly they seemed to be out of place or very tacky. Were the wardrobe designers different to the those used for the Marias?
Why is so much attention paid to the winner being able to do 8 shows a week for the winning Nancy. The sing for Nancy is knowhere near as big as it was for Connie in the SOM.They at the SOM must think it was too big a sing as Summer Strallen is only doing 6 shows the same as Connie did because it proved far too much
Zoe
It's obvious that programmes like ADWD and IDA come with a certain amount of manipulation - the performers don't pick their songs (and indeed some performers seem to get better or worse songs on a consistent basis), the viewers are manipulated by what the judges say, we have no idea how the order that contestants perform is selected (and this clearly effects the voting) - indeed, Simona from How Do You Solve A Problem... seemed to be eliminated under particularly unfair circumstances.
As a judge, to what extent are you aware that you could potentially manipulate the voters and how much are you aware of manipulation by Andrew or the production team?
Zoe are you aware that performers who already have been offered parts in the West end and accepted them, are having them taken off them to slot in rejected contestants from I'd do anything ?. Is this acceptable?
Shows like Maria, Joseph and Nancy have polarised people in the industry. When the Josephs visited a theatre in one episode, they asked a professional how they were viewed. And he said he'd expect them to work harder, purely because they'd come from a talent show. Columnists like Baz Bamigboye in the Mail are not backward in coming forward in their disdain for such an audition process. And as someone else has said here, professionals are losing their jobs to make way for rejects from these shows.
Given there is such disapproval from those who actually work in and around the industry, despite the fact it helps those who may not have been able to get a foot in the door the conventional way, does this not support the argument that it is purely a money making exercise, to get bums on seats, and money in the coffers (while discovering talent is just a nice aside that provides a good pr defence for the shows). This kind of show may rejuvenate interest in the west end, but is it worth it when it's at the expense of those already working there?
(I find the stigma in the industry unfair, as these kids may very well have ended up on the stage anyway, or should have at some point. They are also committed, determined and talented, as far as can be told).
Given that the part of Nancy is primarily an acting role rather than a singing role. Wouldn't it have been better to show the missions before the voting each week so that the audience can take acting skills into account? If it had been televised in that way do you think the final three would be the same people?
I find the audition proccess rediculous at times - the type of songs bare no resemblence to the songs 'Nancy' should and would be singing. Also the choreography in the show has been appauling, as have the 'light weight' dancers. There is so much better talent out there, why are we suffering this 2nd rate stuff?
How did a consummate professional like Rachel get dumped in favour of Jodie and two talented but plainly inexperienced youngsters? Shouldn't we have seen more acting (which would have made it all fairer)?
Just to pick up on Sammy's comments about Samantha, what a ridiculous comment to make about a very talented young girl. It is bad enough having Zoe Tyler say she was too beautiful for the part. Samantha is an outstanding performer and hopefully will never get to read your very immature comments.
I have waited until the end of the show, to make my comments on this site. I congratulate Samantha, Niamh, Sarah and Fran, on how they handled the whole competition. None of these girls had stories, weight loss, how they got turned down from drama schools. They were not showcased from the start, they got there on their own talent. I wonder if Jodie and Jessie had not had as much coverage would they have got to the final. I wish Samantha, Sarah, Fran and Niamh all the very best for their futures and hope they will not be put of from the very unfair comments they have had.
Barry Humpries was the most cosistant of the competition. He is a very clever man, I don't believe there was any complaint made about him, really hope they have him for the next show. I'm so glad Zoe Tyler was not on this show, really can't bear her. I would not have watched the show if she had been on and I know so many others who feel the same about her.
