The Stage @ Adam Street: New musical theatre cover

In the third of our The Stage@Adam Street round-table discussions, we examine the state of new musicals in the UK. Do all new musicals sound the same (and if so, why)? How can we encourage new composers, new producers and new audiences? How can the Arts Council best support the development of new work?

Joining The Stage’s news and opinion editor Alistair Smith are:

  • Nick Williams, senior theatre officer, Arts Council England
  • Paul Spicer, performer and producer of the Notes from New York series
  • Kerry Michael, artistic director of Theatre Royal Stratford East
  • Neil Marcus, executive director of Mercury Musical Developments
  • Michael Bruce, composer and lyricist
