Strictly Come Dancing: You be the judge, week 8

Strictly Come Dancing on TV Today

I have a feeling this could be a good week. The two weakest stars remaining after Kate’s departure last week, John and Kenny, are both back in disciplines where they’re likely to feel comfortable. The former has a samba this week, while the Scottish rugby player seems to do better with ballroom dances, and this week dnaces an American Smooth.

As ever, this week’s score sheet is below. Don’t forget to come back after both shows to share your verdicts!

Thank you Scott dear - as you say could be quite interesting this week!!!

Scott dear,- as it seems you have been forgiven by all, I'm ready for tomorrows stint as judge and jury. Scorecard printed in readyness.

Did you see Kenny an John's practise on ITT? Kenny looked quite good, but John looked very bent over. John's feet were moving well but, upper body clumsey. Worried about Kelly and Brendan from what they said on ITT.

Know whwat you mean Jo4. Both Brendan and Kelly sewm to have the same need to push the boundaries all the time and it's not doing them any favours with the judges. A shame when they are both such good dancers! Although I still enjoy Alesha and Matt the best - they bring the best out of each other, although poor Matt Cutler doesn't look as though he knows what's hit him when Alesha starts bouncing around afterwards.

Ready for duty,- The Norwegian judge and jury fortified with mug of herbal tea (Need to keep a clear head here.)

All set and ready.
Are you there Eva or has PC blown again?

This is the vote from the Norwegian Jury:

Gethin Jones & Camilla Dallerup : 9

Definitely traces of Fred Astaire in those steps. Light as can be. Floating. Love it!

John Barnes & Nicole Cutler : 7
Still stomping a bit. Different man with Latin. A happy dance.

Letitia Dean & Darren Bennet :8
At last a lovely dress. A little stiff?, but so lovely.

Kelly Brook & Brendan Cole : 8
Good routine. Technically nearly perfect. Why can't I warm to them?

Kenny Logan & Ola Jordan : 6
He's come a long way, but .......There is a big BUT. He isn't living the dance. The last lift,- awful feet.

Matt di Angelo & Flavia Cacace : 10
YES, YES, YES !!!!

Alesha Dixon & Matthew Cutler : 10
She's got the fire Kelly lacks. It was the best dance.

Gethin + Camilla (Quickstep). Looked like he really enjoyed it. Some of the steps a little inaccurate, but the performance was great. It was overall light and fluffy. 8.

John + Nichole (Samba). At times heavy with legs, I didn’t feel the party. Some good hips though. 6.

Letitia + Darren (Viennese Waltz). What were they thinking with the colour of the dress? Lovely graceful and swirly dance. I couldn’t see any mistakes. 8.

Kelly + Brendan (Samba). The costumes looked lovely, more of a party. Some of her steps looked a bit off. I’ll have to leave myself out of the scoring for this as I spent most of the time watching Brendan, couldn’t help myself, mmmm. Will I be drummed out of the judging committee?

Kenny + Ola (American Smooth). Out of time in parts. Lifts looked like weight lifting, not a graceful dance. He is getting better, but not really smooth. 7.

Matt + Flavia (Salsa). To quote John Barrowman (from another show) ‘hot, hot, hot’ and sexy, but not quite up to Ramps last year. 9.

Alesha + Matthew (Cha cha cha). Wow, can’t say anything about it. 10.

This week John and Kenny should go home, but I won't be sorry if Kelly and Brendan are given the boot. There is so much negativity with those two.
I'm still voting for Letitia. I really like her.
Hi Jo4,- computer behaving itself so far. I think it is frightened of some murderous looks pointing it's way.

Quick input as off to cook tea. voting with friend and all of us incl 16 year old son (in other room!) all voted Matt the best. Alesha excellent but still thought Matt better and hot hot hot.
Kenny much improved and deserves not to be in bottom 2 as feel he is prob most improved dancer. Kelly v. disappointing - and Brendan - everyone had 2 dances to learn.

Eva, Glad your computer seems to be holding it together.
I agree John or Kenny should go home. I'm really disappointed in Kelly and Brendan, they could do much more. They said they didn't have much time this week for practise, if they don't make the time they should go out as the others seem to be doing it. I love the way Brendan dances (not so certain about him though).

OK - I thought Camilla and Gethin were lovely - I gave them a 9. John didn't light any fires, looked laboured, Kenny had marginally improved but still has hands like bunches of bananas and really isn't a dancer. Will they please shoot whoever chooses Letitia's dresses? Like her routine and gave it an 8. Kelly and Brendan left me cold - I gave them a 7 .. there is just something I don't take to! Matt was fantastic - gave him a 10 (which was hard as I am a Gethin and Gamilla fan) and I gave Aleysha 9.5! Will someone please please get rid of Bruce - he is an embarrassment and spoils the programme!!!

Carol-I have a soft spot for Bruce.

Sorry Jo4 but he's had his day and whilst he has been a great entertainer in the past, now he is not remotely funny and it's a shame that this is how a lot of people who never saw him previously will remember him!

Yes I'm late I know... and for the most I'm in agreement with comments above. But have to say, isn't that Brendan a complete and utter twit!! (Read Craig RH's comments about him somewhere - "he doesn't have a top lip. I don't like people who don't have top lips".) But that's not the reason I am not fond of him..
My score ratings are:-
Gethin & Camilla - Enjoyed them very much, he's smooth like velvet sometimes - he's lovely. 9
John & Nicole - hmmm.. I wonder, if he just lifted his head, would it improve that much? Like his enthusiasm, but.. 6
Letitia & Darren - Darren's done a great job. She was a little stiff (I thought), but she's improved tremendously. 7
Kelly & Brendan - yawn. that was very boring. Like the way he blamed K "she's not a dancer"!! (But Brendan, YOU'RE NOT THE CELEBRITY!!) whiney little git. 7
Kenny & Ola - it did look a bit like they stopped mid step (have a break, have a kit-kat)to do a bit of weight lifting - impressive as a one hand lift is... why? 6
Matt & Flavia - WOW WOW WOW WOW. Flavia's done well - This boy has found his groove. 110
Alesha & Matt - fabulous fabulous fabulous, but didn't stoke the furnace that Matt started. 9.5
Dance off: John/Nicole & Kelly/Brendan (cos he's such a pratt).

Thanks ladies. I was sitting on the plane yesterday wondering how it was going. JO4, I like Brendan too. Dont know why because he surely is an arrogant git, but boy can he dance! Not having seen this show no comments, but PLEASE leave your reviews and reflections here after the dance off.

Shirley, you put it so well, he is an'arrogant git', but I just love to watch him dance. His legs and feet just hypnotise me.

Right ladies,- let's see what the hoi polloi has done with the voting today.

oh I'm late, medical emergency, tablets found will be fine now.
I'm ready now.

I really enjoyed the group routine, but I know someone else who "can do the twist."
Lee will be in ITT on Monday !!!!!!!!!! I think they like our boy.
Scott dear,- did you get that? The whippersnapper is back!!!

Ah, Eva, I've not heard the phrase hoi polloi since I was in Iolathe!

Erm, so I guess we're setting our recorders for It Takes Two next week!

Ah the Charleston, my dad used to do it, the craze when he was young. Go, go, Erin and Anton, lovely Quickstep.
Dirty Dancing group dance: Alesha and Matt were really it. Gethin looked like he was over concentrating, arms out of time at one point. John bending over as usual. Kenny did the big lift. All couples seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
That young upstart, Lee Mead is on ITT next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ola and Darren dancing to the Sugababes, graceful and some lovely lifts.
In the dance off: Kelly and John. John has got to go. Kelly can do it if she works at it. Goody, get to see Brendan again. John managed to keep his head up this time. No idea how Kelly did, Brendan did very well, hips, legs, feet. CRH: Kelly, Arlene: Kelly, Bruno: Kelly, so John is out. I agree even though the last dance he did have a go with the posture. Len said he would have gone with Kelly as well.

Yes,- it was fair that the judges saved Kelly & Brendan. They are the better dancers, but they also deserved this wake-up-call. Don't take your partisipation for granted, and Brendan: LIGHTEN UP FOR HEAVEN'S
SAKE.

Agreed - Kelly & Brendan are deffinately the better dancers, but they did need the wake up call!

JaneE,- I read some fancy novels. That's probably where I picked up that expression.
Recorder already set.
Well, it's hotting up on the dance floor. When Kenny hopefully is sent home next week, there are only the good ones left.
But,- you'll have to do without me next Saturday. I'll be away Saturday and Sunday without Internet access. I know it'll be hard, but I know you'll do your best.
Scott dear,- stop crying in your beer. I'll be back for the dance off.

I thought it was a fair decision this week and tho John has had good moments kelly is def the better dancer. I do think that tho kenny is never going to win any dancing medals he has improved dramatically and that is part of the point of the prog and so I would be sorry to see him go next week - but then I would be sorry to see any of the others go too!

...so please tell me why Kenny is still in?? I take it all of Scotland is voting for him (now what does that remind me of?). Managed to get back in time for the start of the programme! Knew that Kelly would be put through as soon as it came down to the two of them - shame as John seems a very nice chap. Well who did we see flashed up on the screens - Sloppy got very excited as she watches ITT every night (I do depending on when I am home, so will have to make sure I leave promptly every night to get home in time!). Not sure if they meant he will be on tomorrow or just that some time during the week he will be there - hope it's not Wednesday as I am seeing a show in town that night!!

Oh that was lovely. Thank you all ladies, and Jo4 bless you. Thank you so much. I read Scott Dear's review and that was great, but he missed the group perfomances. Must have a look later to see if it is available as a podcast. (Just had a little finch fly past me to get at some bananas we bought yesterday - very distracting!!)

I hope Strictly ITT play by the rules this time. I recall a week or 2 ago they promised us the Josephs as a viewers panel and they never materialised. Whenever that sort of thing happens I think back to D the DD. One of my all time favourite comedies!!! But the GO could never be a DD

i think they all were great
