He says that the BBC wouldn't let him use a certain phrase, but when was the last time he wrote for the BBC? Must have been years and years ago.
The last time Ben Elton wrote for the Beeb, probably was when there was more consistently funny series.. not the shite that passes for comedy these days.
Elton wrote Blessed in 2005 for BBC1, starring Ardal O'Hanlon. It made The Thin Blue Line look like genius of a Galton and Simpson quality
