Making penguins fly

After our little fun and games for April Fools’ Day this week, I have to admit we were totally eclipsed by the BBC’s own efforts.

In a specially constructed trail promoting the BBC iPlayer, Terry Jones is seen on the trail of a very rare species of Antarctic bird — the flying penguin.

I think what makes this work — and therefore justifies the substantial cost that must have been involved — is that it’s also a great addition to the advertising campaign for the iPlayer service.

Speaking of which, for the next few days at least you can view a behind-the-scenes documentary showing how the advert was put together.
