The BBC’s new theatre talent show - revealed!

The BBC has responded swiftly to Kevin Spacey’s criticism of musical theatre talent shows, TV Today can exclusively reveal this morning, by commissioning a search to find a character actor worthy of one of Shakespeare’s most difficult roles.

This time next year, audiences will be asked to find a male actor to play Shylock in a new production of The Merchant of Venice. I understand that the BBC is in talks with the Old Vic to put on the resulting show, and have asked Spacey to head up the judging panel.

My source tells me that the BBC are keen to downplay the stereotypical aspects of the Jewish money lender. “This will be a very twenty-first century production,” they tell me. “Although we could stipulate that Section (2)(A) of the 1976 Race Relations Act were to apply, auditions will be open to all, regardless of race or religion.”

Other judges have yet to sign up, although it is thought John Barrowman may not appear, for fear of over exposure.

The new show, with a working title of PRICK ME!, will be auditioning early next year, with the first programme airing the week of April 1 2009.

Ha ha. Very funny. As if.... 1st April, anyone?

Some parts of the BBC are already ahead of the joke. The most recent series of Clare In The Community referred to a new BBC show called "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Antigone?"

I do like Clare in the Community. Harry Venning, creator of the original Clare strip and co-writer of the radio series, also creates Hamlet each week as well as reviewing TV for The Stage's weekly print edition...

Ahh... it was so believable until the bit about John Barrowman not appearing. As if he'd turn anything down!

Hah! You may joke...but nothing surprises me these days!

Very good Scott Dear, had me going for a moment!

Ha Ha! Nice one Scott Dear.

Do the comments mean that the article is not really true?!

SCOTT, you nicked my idea I blogged yesterday (see Loppies). Thankfully you didn't use any of my suggestions.

Fi What date is it today?

@Fi9: Yes, it was an April Fool's joke. Prick Me! is, alas, still waiting a commission... ;)

Scott dear,- nothing surprises me anymore, except that KS would never sink to such lows as to risk to be seen by the big, unwashed Joe Public,- i.e.us.

Scott dear, just to let you know we are homeless (ahhh) page there, no comment box. I know you said that things would be happening over the next week.

We are safe elsewhere, but it's not the same. (We can do pictures and smilies, but it's not proper home.)

actually I could see this being very entertaining - all sorts of unknown middle aged men hoping to become stars....the mind boggles....Scott please fix the big black box thingy as I have loppies camping at my place LOL

The number of comments on the last post was the cause of the 'white page' errors -- there were so many that the server was cancelling the script because it was both taking too long and using too much memory when compiling the list of comments.

I've amended the server so that's less likely to happen in future, but still needed to close the comments. You can now use this thread as a Loppy home.

Scott dear,- bless you. Why on earth are you up so early? These last days have been very upsetting, in more than one way, so we need to come home, sit down by the fireside, and have a good old chinwag. I'll se if I can find the others and direct them back home.
Hello. sweetheart. I'm glad to see you found your way too. I think that we've lost DT and the Tardis, so we'd better stay where we are for the moment. Good old Beach Bistro. Let's start the coffee machine, put the kettle on, and make some toast. You want to do some of Carol's fancy porridge? You go right ahead. I'll look after the boring stuff.

Morning all - just thought I'd have a quick pop in and see how you all were, glad I've found you, hope you manage to round them up Eva! A sit down by the fireside with friends in the comfort of our own home sounds just the thing!

Thanks Scott - we do seem to cause you some problems don't we?? You are good to us.

Anyway, lots of ohms and hugs to you all today. See you all later.

Thank goodness I've found you (I wasn't able to log into Carys alertnative site). I take it we're back from Rome although I dont remember getting home at all, yesterday is a blur. Its fancy porridge for me this morning with coffee and croissants. Hi Sweetheart, now dont you worry about that nasty KS, he's just jealous that you are not appearing on his stage and he cant fill the seats

Oh great, so nice to be home - or are we still in Rome, I'm confused. Seemed to me the BHB didn't make it to Rome, so as he's here, presumably we are too:))

Haven't got time for more than an unleaded coffee, I need to start work.

Gosh this is just like the real world ie I havent the foggiest where I am most of the time (- and the IT going wrong). Coffee and porridge and off to w...k. Have a great day everyone.

So glad to see some of you found your way home. I thought I would send an e-mail around this time to make sure everybody find their way home. The way we have been scattered all over the place, might have confused some.(It doesn't take much sometimes, eh?)
I have posted the new adress on Carys' blog and on LMAS, but just to make sure: of to e-mail people. I'll leave off you who are already here.

Morning all thankgoodness, home! We need our home, things just don't go well when we aren't home. No offence Carys, you have a lovely holiday home with lots of new toys to play with, and it's good to know it's there, but not everybody can get there!
Right as I seem to be here a bit earlier than usual, I think breakfast is called for. I thought we were still in Rome, but I am easily confused. Who cares, there is BHB, hello sweetheart, you were feeling lost yesterday as well? Never mind we are all together again now. Lets just sit down quietly and have a nice chat.

Where am I? Whats my name? How confusing have the last few days been? Thanks for the email Eva I may never have got here without it. Just as well I didn't see Scotts April Fool before comments had been added because I might just have fallen for it!

DVO and JB are presenting the breakfast show on Capital all this week together. Don't let KS know. I only heard a bit of it this morning but I thought they were being a bit saucey for the school run. JB will be on Paul O'Grady I think later in the week. Gets around doesn't he?

Hurray found you all – home sweet home – although of course we are still in Rome, apart from Aunty Eva who came back early (muttering something about “too much walking”) with the BHB yesterday when he came home to do the evening job. The rest of us will be returning from our Roman Holiday later today (in time for me to get there really tomorrow!). Have been checking the flight and it has left almost on time every day (5 mins late today) so as long as the luggage follows me we should be ok –have checked in on line already!. Right where were we, oh the itinerary for today – for your cultural delight we will be visiting the Roman Forum and the Imperial Forum as well as Circus Maximus (very nice restaurant nearby), before heading for home so I can do my packing. Lost track of you adventures yesterday as my laptop threw an enormous wobbly – I was sending an email when the screen went into freeze and then went black. Haven’t been able to get it to work since! Anyway I will try and follow the trail and see what you got up to whilst I was busy rehearsing. Finally, Scott Dear, thank you for the new home (although this is the third time I have tried to post this!).

Morning All,
Thanks Eva for sounding the SL horn and hopefully we'll have everyone home and accounted for by the end of the day.
Nice to just relax and have normality restored, porridge with a little honey is perfect, appropriate comfort food. And a nice cup of tea I think.
Now to get some w**k done, as I said to Geri yesterday, I've not exactly been employee of the week so far.
Will pop in again at lunchtime to see how you all are
Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm's to top up the bank which must be well overdrawn by now

Scott Dear, thank you for our lovely new home. Cary's holiday home looked very nice but I couldn't find the front door & had to just look through the windows.

Carol, please don't rush us off around Rome just yet. We all had a very traumatic time yesterday. Getting lost in strange places, being unable to communicate with the natives etc. I think we all need to relax at home with our lovely BHB for a little while before we embark on any more adventures! Ahh thank you BHB, a nice strong cup of coffe, just the thing.

Ooops, sorry Carys - put the apostrophe in the wrong place.

Ali Dav - you asked on t'other blog how to change your name back to "normal". Click on your name in the leave a comment section here, which will take you to the Live Journal site. Click on User Info then log in at the top right of the next page. Click on Edit Personal Information (just above the bow with all the icons in). When the page comes up you will see your display name in the yellow box thing & be able to change it. Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes (I missed that bit the first couple of times I tried & couldn't work out why it wouldn't work!). When you come back to this page, you will need to sign out, but when you sign in again your name should have updated. Not sure if it works the same way for Open ID & the others, but i'd imagine it's pretty similar.

Hello Mummies it is Chantale ( yes I have decided that as you were the birth of it all so you are our offical LMAS mums!!!!!...) yes another b.... usermname boy it drives me potty.
so glad to see you back at home have a lovely day all of you ,see you soon and don't work too hard.

Ah Lindsey as I am away for the next few days you will be able to have peace and quiet until I come back, then perhaps a week at home before rushing off elsewhere (Hawaii?). OOohhhhmmmmmms for those in need! I can't access Carys' site from the office (very inconsiderate of them) so haven't been able to catch up on last night, so I'll start afresh from here! Maeve when are you off?? When's your actual birthday??

Chantale - aunties please!! We are all only 27 you know! I get terribly confused as to what all my various log ins and passwords are now - keep having to get emails sent to me to remind me! My secret question Geri is "who is my favourite historical character" - guess what the answer is! Friend has just emailed me details of two restaurants in the Pantheon area, so I might try those out Fi and let you know! Ok wxxk calls for the moment - will be back later!

Hello again. I feel like I’m permanently one day (or more) behind you all but it beats being 2 weeks! Couldn’t get a network connection when I tried yesterday morning. Found our new home very easily phew.

Might change to a pencil but will wait till we’re home and have broadband connection. After the hassle of signing up, I’m quite happy being openid for now.

Hi Auds, good to see you again, missed you. Jo4, hope you’re feeling better now. Lots of ohmmmmmms.

Helen W, glad you had a fantastic time at Joseph and it lived up to all you hoped. Jane E, hope you had a great time (you‘re probably long back by the time I post this).

I love Rome too. Went when I was about 20 for a week and then again for one day for work - I had to deliver a parcel and after that had rest of day to wander. Keep telling Ploppy we should go as he’s only been to Italy once and that was for skiing.

We had a lovely day yesterday - went on a boat into the Knysna Heads with our friends, nice lunch, then went to a viewpoint above a beach where you can sometimes see dolphins though unfortunately didn‘t yesterday. Today is a scorcher so having a quiet morning and going to a game park late this afternoon. The holiday is flying by.

That's ok Carol. BHB made my coffe so nice & strong, and sang to me so sweetly while I drank it that I'm ready to face anything now. Even crowds of tourists and Romans! Besides, I've never been to Rome so I'm really enjoying our guided tour.

Ooh Diana, your holiday sounds nicer each time you post!! Between you & Carol we get to have 2 virtual holidays at once, lovely!

Just found Something for the Weekend so am downloading to watch later yipee.

Hi Diana, do you have to keep rubbing it in how hot it is? Glad you are having a great time, I always think the first week of a holiday goes really slowly, lovely, then the second week just whizzes by.

Chantale, please, Mummys'?!!! I'll go along with Carol you can be an Aunty at 27!

Now that is odd my name under leave a comment was blue, when I refreshed the page it is just normal. This new boxy thing does like keeping us on our toes. I'll see what happens when I post this!

Nope still black, how weird.

It's such a lovely day here in the South East that I'm not too envious of Diana. Had to make the most of the mild spell, because the weather forecast is saying more cold winds and even snow for the week end! I went for a lovely walk along the real seafront this morning. Booootiful!
I've had a funny (haha) radio morning. Sarah Kennedy was talking about David Essex and played GMYAS, then later when I moved over to Norwegian radio, they played Bad Day and All Right Now within 20 minutes! Of course none of these were a patch on GO's songs!

Well Aunty Eva it may be sunny in the South East but in London we have rain! Saw the forecast for this weekend - glad I'll be away....oh yes where is it I am going?? Rome! When I get back it will be less than 2 weeks to the next GO visit - in my Row A with Auds! Was thinking I might have sneak the laptop to Rome, but now it's gone phut on me, that's not going to happen! Will have to take it to the doctor next weekend....although we have a wedding to go to in the afternoon - wearing the dress I bought in Kaliko in Stradford, Fi! Of course being away at the weekend means I shall mis IDA - so full reports from you all are expected! Boss just rung me from Tenerife with a job to do whilst he is away....reminded him I am not in tomorrow or Friday! Ok back to our historical tour. I really like the Roman forum, it's near the centre and hustle and bustle but seems like a calm oasis. The Imperial forums (I think there were four or five of them) were built to accommodate the overflow from the main forum - I think Julius Caesar built one of them. Not a lot left of the Circus Maximum, which is now a park (last time we were in Rome there was a scout jamboree there) but you can see the remains of the track where the chariots raced - any of you see Ben Hur over Easter....gives you an idea of what it was like! Nice fish restuarant nearby where we will retire shortly for lunch and vino!

Lindsey thanks for the advice you gave to Ali. I hope I've just become me again rather than the strange imposter alisonhal?

Yeah brilliant. When I changed my profile it said I had 0 friends! Poor me.

I think I'll stay with my new identity. Since I haven't signed up with the pencil one, I don't want to go back and try to figure out how to change mine again. I was so proud of myself when I managed to sign in, I don't want to mess things up!
Ah Carol,- I'm following your Roman tour with interest. Who needs professional couriers when we have you? The fish restaurant sounds interesting, though. I might just jump over to Rome for lunch. No, I don't need the Tardis. I'll be there on my broomstick. Don't worry,- I'll find you. I'm not a man, so I'll ask for directions if neccesary!

Don't worry Alison I'm aBilly no mates as well! But now because I'm not blue any more can't change anything. Just as well I'm who I always was!
Rain in my area as well, so I'm glad to be in Rome on our lovely cultural tour, but am beginning to feel a bit weary so glad lunch is coming up soon. Ooo not literally I hope!! Sorry for that image!

I like the little ad for casting actors and extras that has appeared above the leave a comment. Do you think they think we are a lot of drama queens?

Just used your "name change" instructions Lindsey, thanks. Hope it works.

oh alright then Aunties....hahaha do you realise that Iam a mere 59 almost 60....such such young aunties here!.
My son has signed up for extras heaven help them !!!.

Yes, it worked, great!
Nearly lunchtime and it's nice and bright out so off for a walk along the Liffey, sorry to desert you all in Rome but quite happy now to stick with Dublin for a few more days.

Oh and in case anyone missed it in all the craziness, Maeve got a lovely birthday card from the GO and was very happy about it yesterday (probably an understatement) Martin has it up in the misc. pictures folder.
Happy Birthday Maeve!

OK - lunch is served - sea bass with fennel and a nice chilled Pinot Grigiot for me!

Honey, I'm home!
And back to plain, old "Ali" too, thanks Lindsey, I had changed it ok but didn't sign out and back in again for it to be recognised!!
I did manage to catch up over on Carys' page and LMAS forum yesterday, but too much going on in real life and it was more than my poor, frazzled brain could cope with! I've taken on a temporary position (voluntary post) and it is mentally and emotionally exhausting at present, I need the blog to keep me sane (?) while I deal with it and desperately missed the "normality". I know you lot will understand that!
I'm really looking forward to our Norwich fest on Friday as I can forget everyone else's problems for a while and just be a loppy, unfortunately not a lush one as I'm driving, but maybe one with lunch? oh, who am I kidding, DEFINITELY one with lunch!!
SCOTT, a big thankyou for sorting us out, see what sort of mess we get into when we're left to our own devices!!

Thanks for the tour round Rome Carol, I shall definitely return one day. I hope you have a great weekend there.

I'm off to unknown territory tomorrow, Budapest, could do with a guide like you!

Oo am I back to being me again?? Hope so. Thanks for the "how to" Lindsey.

Nice to see we're all finding our way home!

Right 3rd time lucky?????
did you get my e mail Eva saying thank you for the link?
I would never have found it on my own.
Have had a very busy few days so I really am not to sure of what has been happening, I realise Carol is off to Rome, have a lovely Holiday Carol, and that Jo4 is poorly, hope you feel better soon, and Maeve has had a special Birthday Card, congralutions Maeve.
As reported I went to see Hairspray on Monday with Scollop, it really is worth seeing, although as Shirley2 said I am not sure it would be on my list to see again.
Michael Ball was terrific, when the 2nd half started MB and Ian Talbot do a duet well towards the end Ian Talbot for some reason started laughing, and then he couldn't stop he was laughing so much he had to put his face against MB's back they both had to ad lib, till the end of the scene.
Leanne was of course brilliant as well, and Ben well you would have thought the part of Link was written for him he so suited it, he threw himself into the role, and looked as though he was having a ball, singing and dancing like there was no tomorrow, but then all the cast were brilliant, a very proffesional show.
The adience were great, cheering and clapping throughout the show, and at the end there was a standing ovation, Michael Ball hugged Ben at the end, I don't know whther he does that every night, but it is definatley a show worth seeing.
Back to School for another 2 days this week then I am not working till end of April.

I had real trouble submitting that post and I notice I haven't got a pencil by my name, please please can someone out there give me some advice on how to use the sign ins, in easy words please you all know how thick I am,happened again comment submission error, text enetered was wrong

Hi Maeve, have a fab time in Budapest, never been there either, but what I've seen on travel programmes it looks great. You can be our pathfinder and report back! How's your card today, bet you still keep looking at it!
Jill I have no idea what has gone wrong there. It seems as though somewhere you haven't confirmed. If when you log off and come back again it doesn't remember you, you may have to start again. I mean I've gone from blue to black and not sure what will happen to me!
Right lunch was lovely, big plate of calamaris and some of that lovely Pinot Grigio, yum. Ready for anything now.

I notice a few of us are still missing, I do hope they catch up with us soon, I wouldn't like to lose anyone during the move.
Is anyone else feeling a bit down at the moment, or is it just me? With all the nastiness on the forum last week, then our upheaval on the blog with people not knowing/able to post elsewhere it feels as if we have lost our spark a bit. Don't know what to suggest to help us, anyone got any ideas?
I'm off to do some digging in the garden, if it doesn't give me some inspiration it will at least help me to take out my mood on the weeds!!
C U later!

Maeve, I went to Budapest years ago whilst it was still behind the Iron Curtain - I was in Vienna for a while and went across on the train. Went to a fantastic fish restaurant in Pest (we stayed in Buda) - the people were lovely, charming and helpful, but there were lots of Russian soldiers around. I remember they did really nice pastries there!! Enjoy (and your birthday!). Sorry feeling on a high myself as OFF TO ROME TOMORROW MORNING! Yipee!!! I'll send you nice positive thoughts whilst I'm gone though! Haven't heard from Jane-E - hope she is back safely??

Ali - feeling totally the same over here, and I think my post-show downer has really set in to add to the general depression.
I'd love a little spark if anyone can think of one!
I always find gardening very theraputic, especially in the spring time.
Will try to get out to mine over the weekend but can't prioritise it as my exams are looming now.

Found you all at last. Couldn't get onto Carys' site.
Thank you for our new home Scott. Enjoyed your April Fool jokes yesterday.
Hope Jo4 and Gillian are feeling better.
Have a good holiday Carol and Maeve.
Feeling a little under the weather myself today so lounging on the ssofa and just going to have my own little Lee fest.
See you all later.

I'm not sure about down but I'm quite bad tempered although that is w**k related mainly (although family members are pushing their luck.) What we could do with is a really lovely spring weekend when everyone can get out without winter coats. Well that would cheer me up no end. Some hope.

Maeve there are lots of spas in Budapest. I think they are like public baths and quite cheap to get in. One is massive and you could spend all day in the different rooms. The other is quite ornate and beautiful but much smaller. I went for a weekend a couple of years ago and I loved the smaller one but my friend preferred the large one. Have a lovely time whatever you do. You too Carol. Enjoy your trips.

Thanks Lindsey, I've now got capital Gs :))

Some unexpected time off work, went to a seminar, the speaker was late as he was sent to Manchester by mistake, instead of Sunbury!! He set off back and was expected about 3.30 intead of a 2.00 start. My colleague and I looked through the course notes, and still had an hour to wait, so decided to go home.

I do have some stuff I need to be getting on with though, too good an opportunity to miss.

Ali, Dear Scott has put a link to here on the bottom of our last thread, so everyone should get here.

Have a great long weekend Carol and Maeve.

Jill, have emailed you some instructions. Hope they make sense.

Here I am - just finished tidying up after you, changed the bedlinen etc - all nice and clean for your next visit! Thanks Scott for the new home here among all these wanabee Shylocks! lol Is there an age limit for applicants? maybe we can send some ploppys along for auditions.

Carol - I was worried about Jane too so I've texted her to make sure she's okay but I've not heard back yet - I'll let you all know if I hear anything.

AAAAgggghhhh bump. Just landed, thank to Eva's email.

Thanks Scott for new home. Thanks to Carys and Forum for letting us camp out.

Yep still feel rubbish, sleeping all day. I WILL be better for Friday.

Poor dog hasn't gone out for a walk yet, I'd better get dressed.

Found you, thanks Eva, (and Scott). Got a feeling I've missed at least half a days posts though, hope I haven't missed anything much.

Thanks Lindsey, in advance, I'm hoping it's worked.

Ali, I'm feeling a bit down at the mo as well, all to do with our new next door neighbour, never had a neighbour problem before, don't like it much. Going to see Hairspray at the weekend though, so should cheer me up.

Need to go and walk the dogs now, have you gone yet Jo? Back later.

Hi all!

Sorry Carol and Karen - I am back safe and sound (mobile is at home Karen, so I've not picked up your text) but I've only just been able to get on the blog. Thanks for your concern though, guys, sorry to worry you!

I've not caught up properly, but congrads Maeve on your card -lucky girl! Hope you had a happy birthday!

Hope you're feeling better Jo4.

Jill, glad you enjoyed Hairspray.

We had a fabulous time in London - and I'll be writing a proper review - but I'll have to get it to you later. I'm having to give Ploppy lots of TLC, because he's depressed at the moment (I may take some Ohmms from the bank for him.)

If I don't get on the blog again tonight, have a good evening all - and hopefully I'll be back in Loppyland soon!

Didn't work, still sue-1!! Told you I was a total puter nerd.

Right see if this works, Ladies you really are a lovely bunch so helpful, I know I am a bit of a p.....r.
Sue you really will enjoy Hairspray, I will be interested to hear how you enjoy it, have a good weekend.
By the way I am Jill18 cause thats my age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!! Well done Jill!

Hi all,- I'm back and I'm happy!!!! Shall I tell you why? Yes, I will: When I came downstairs after my afternoon snooze, I found a lovely, lovely e-mail from Jo4. She's only gone and booked me a ticket to see Joseph in September with her. And it's a gift, saying "thank you" for my brithday card scheme. I feel like inviting the neighbours in for a knees-up!! ( I could have done with a few of Carys' smilies here!)
Carys,- thank you for having us. Did we leave the place very untidy? Well, i suppose with all the use of inserted photos and an abundance of smilies, it might have looked a bit "lived in".
Carol and Maeve,- have a wonderful time in the real Rome and in Budapest.

Ooh, all these sad & poorly people at the moment. I'm still floating around on my cloud (Coz HE WINKED AT ME - don't know if I've mentioned that!!) so I'll send a huge deposit of OOOOHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMSSSSS for the bank.
Jane E glad you had a good time in London. Did you manage to see any shows??? Looking forward to your review. Hope SOTRWD enjoyed it too.

Jo4, Gillian & Kathleen, hope you are all on the road to recovery. More Ohhmms.

Sue, did you remember to save changes on the LJ site & sign out & back in again on this one? Can't thimk of any other reasons why it wouldn't work.

Oh Eva, what a lovely suprise. And Jo4 what a nice thing to do. I'm sure you will both have a fantastic time.

Hi all , first and foremost I am sure that we must br running very low on ohhhmmms as with all this moving about I don't think they got topped up much! Thanks for the reminder Lindsey, here goes OHHHHHHHMMMMMMM OHHHHHHHHHMMMMMM OHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMM.
JaneE sounds like it was worth the journey, glad you are home safe and sound. Hope Ploppy feels more cheerful soon. Looking forward to your report!
Eva that is lovely, you deserve it but Jo4 what a star for thinking of it! That will be a good night.
Right my name is still black so going to try signing out then in to see if that works, so if I disappear altogether you will hear the swearing wherever you are and I apologise!

Excuse me a sec - just testing something...

Scott

Yay I've gone blue again!
Scott of course you're excused but what are you testing?!

Jane - good to hear from you. Looking forward to hearing all about the view from the box!! Lots of ohms to your ploppy.

Jo4 - what a lovely idea, how kind of you and Eva you lucky lady, but it's well deserved.

A huge deposit of ohhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmsssssssss for the bank and a big virtual hug to each and every one of you!!

I'm trying to switch on some new comment moderation options. You won't (or shouldn't) see any changes your end - unless I've messed things up - but I'm trying to see if new comments will trigger an email to multiple people instead of just the author of an article, as is the case now.

Eva it was no problem. The only thing was I couldn't let you go on your own, as you needed a carer! So I had to book a ticket for myself, didn't want to see the show, as I've read some bad reports in the press about it, just had to make the sacrifice!!!

Scott, does this mean every time we post a comment someone, or in future many people will an email? Oh dear we must really fill up your in box.

Ooh I think I might have changed my user name - heres hoping.

Carol - iam relying on you to scout out all the restaurants and wine bars in rome for us fro later in the year. Think of it as your loppy duty! I wore my Stratford kaliko dress to 4oth birthday party last weekend. I must have looked Ok as got chatted up by guy who asked me when my 40th birthday party would be!!! it is a lovely dress with a rather more revealing decolletage than I realised but it also was a very dark room! Of course I could have told him in 13 years.

Maeve - enjoy Budapest. We booked to go 2 years ago and airline cancelled with no alternative with 3 days to go. we had to go to court and send bailiffs into airline to get money and compensation. With the compensation we are off next week to swanky hotel in southwold for our silver wedding anniv. Beats caravan site which is where we normally stay.

Welcome back jane E - looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Ali and Karen2 - i too feel lacking in a littel sparkle tho the jaunts around rome are envigorating - esp the long and liquid lunches.

Jo4 - you are a sweetie and how exciting Eva

Yea right Jo4 you are such a martyr. I think I need that pinnochio smiley!

Good grief Scott the way we natter on your box must be overflowing! Email box I mean , now stop it all of you.

Gillian forgot to say earlier, how on earth does someone mistake Manchester for Sunbury? Not even close!

Fi does that mean you got married when you were 2?

Pauline2-Sometimes you have to do things you're not keen to do, if it helps others! (big sigh)

Well done all for changing your names for posting, don't think this ones allows it. I have had a look. Just can't be bothered to change, might do when I feel better.

Maeve-Have a good time away. Looks like a lovely city. Might be a bit chilly still, take some thermals.

Yes, Fi must have been a child bride like me (21 years this year!). Eva how wonderful for you and Jo4 what a lovely, lovely thought - really good of you to make this great sacrifice and accompany Eva! Right I'd better go and pack and I think that is Ploppy returning home! I'll try and pop back later (before my bedtime at 9pm) but if not I'll see you all when I get back - be good everyone! Fi, I shall consider it my duty to try as many bars, restaurants etc. as possible for you! By the way our hotel has 10 rooms (converted Palazzo) and one is a three bed - I'll let you know about it on my return! In the meantime (just in case) Sweet Meads all! ps just charging up my MP3 player!

Pauline2 - absolutely. I was a precocious child + my parents wanted me off their hands as soon as poss

Lindsey thanks you for the instructions. If I followed it right my name should be back to her old form.

Maeve great you got a card from the man.
I got some mail today from England and as I was opening the envelope I suddenly saw the name Lee on the stamp. What he got his own stamp?? It turned out to be, I think, a town Lee-on-Solent.
I thought it was a nice touch from the sender. If he only knew!!

Carol-Have a lovely time away. Glad you have right priorities, charge player before packing.

Jo4,- Any Excuse Will Do, eh?
Scott dear,- do you mean we will al be getting e-mails from you? How lovely! Btw. why are you there so late? You've been in that office for 12 hours. Get yourself home, have a drink and think nice thoughts. You can watch the telly too if you want!

Oh Jo4 what a lovely thing to do for Eva, another Lady with a big heart.
I just have another small problem, I have saved this page in my favourites but when I click on to the site it comes up with my last post, any suggestions Ladies????

Well I don't know Jill I haven't got that problem so far. Is it ok if you refresh the page? I think you need someone more techie than me!

Carol - hope I haven't missed you. Have a safe journey, a wonderful time and enjoy all that vino. I'll make sure the lushloppies live up to your standards while you're gone.

Anne - I loved your comment about Lee having his own stamp. What a great idea!!

Carol, Meave have a wonderful weekend, and never forget you need to raise a glass (or three) to absent Loppies!

Carol & Maeve, hope I'm in time to wish you both great breaks. Hope you both ahve a lovely relaxing time.

Oh first time I've seen these Apprentice people, weird and not nice. I would punch one of the girlies!!

Just quickly popped on to say goodnight!

Carol, if I'm not to late, have a wonderful time in Italy!

Sweet Meads all

Nightlee night all

ps just about to throw something at tv, those girlies need a shake. AS is just about to give it to them

Oh flip, I have turned into calamity loppy again!! Earlier on I sent an open bottle of nail polish flying across the kitchen worktop (fortunately I managed to get it cleaned up before it did any damage!). Then, I took the bin liner out of the swing bin and there was a hole in the bottom of the liner, so the contents of the bin liner were deposited on the kitchen floor whereupon the cat thought I'd put her dinner out and launched herself at the pile of rubbish for a good old rummage, scattering said contents everywhere, so I've had all that to clean up too!!

I'm crackered now so I'm going to settle down with a large glass of Pinot Grigio and watch Desperate Housewives (yes I know it's a load of rubbish but I like it, call me sad if you must!!).

Just popping in to say a quick goodnight. Goodnight. (See, I told you it was quick).

Finally got onto the blog after more hoop jumping - how can a person forget their password within 48 hours? I'm only 27 for heaven's sake - and now everyone's bidding goodnight to all??
Managed to read the past day and half's worth on the bus home... but now have the rest of the evening to catch up on. Another late night at work - hopefully from tomorrow on it's easy sailing for at least a week, so I hope to be visiting here more often.
Carol - have a wonderful time in real Rome. I know you should be in bed by now, but I'm guess you aren't. Hope the weather's as fine for you in reality as it has been for us in our alternate universe whilst in Rome. I've thoroughly enjoyed the guided tours from such a knowledgable source.
OK - my turn to say goodnight and sweet meads one and all -Oh, perhaps not Desp.h/wives just started I see.

Jo4 - you'd only punch 1 of the girlies?? I think most of them could do with a slap!! And the boys aren't much better either! Be warned though, it's addictive (The Apprentice I mean, not slapping people!)

Nightlee night & Sweet Meads

Hi Geri, goodbye Geri, was it a bird was it a plane? no it was Super Lepry!!!

Poor old sad if you must, (unusual name but your choice), I had the split bag syndrome last Sunday, but at least I had no cat to push it about! Have another glass of wine!

Jo4 I couldn't agree more, just a lot of nasty women, don't think I would've minded who went!

Pauline2 - go on then, you persuaded me to have another glass, especially as you made me spit the last one out (mouthful that is, not glass - I know I'm DepChLL but even I don't drink a glassful in one, well not unless I'm on a girls night out but let's not go there!!).

Geri - nice to see you (to see you nice).

Auds - glad somebody else likes Desp Hwives - a small community of ever so slightly bonkers women - can't think why I like it!!!

I've been staying well away from nasty women, both of the Apprentice persuation and the desperate ones. It was The Bill for me, of course, and then I was catching up on Casualty 1907. Blimey,- they must have used up a lot of tomato ketcup there.
Swish......swish..... That was Lepry saying hello and goodbye. Sleep tight, little one!
Auds,- you're a number 2 ! Where and who is number 1?
I see it's bedtime for most of us, so I'll follow your lead. Good night, sleep tight, have wonderful dreams and wake up happy.

I'm addicted to the Apprentice - especially the after show show - tonights result was a travesty - like Keith winning ADWD would have been. Just wanted to murder that awful woman - I hope she goes next week. Rafe reminds me of Roger Federer!
Have great holidays those that are going soon

Hello all, just catching up ooooooooooohhhhhhhms for poorly loppies
Carol and Maeve have a great time away.Auds glad your back
Ali, laughed at your comment on old blog to
Martin about your under wear!!!!
Just been round the fan sites etc and it would seem Connie’s album has been postponed till Christmas (remember Lee and Connie have a duet on it) have also found this on you tube don’t know if you have already seen it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n2rnCZ7vus
The singer is good do you know of him?????
I was thinking as there are a lot of us going to the 7th of June show should we start thinking about some were to meet? Depending on numbers what about a pre dinner meet to star the evening off or for all lush loppies a PUB CRAWL?
No work until Saturday night as on Friday going on E/A meet
I know a few of us are feeling a bit sad, heard this on the radio the other day it might make you laugh
A little boy who new that the tooth fairy would exchange teeth for money put some of his dogs teeth under his pillow (as dog was loosing it’s teeth )and in the morning he looked under his pillow to find ………dog biscuits

night - night Geri
