Some parts of the BBC are already ahead of the joke. The most recent series of Clare In The Community referred to a new BBC show called "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Antigone?"

I do like Clare in the Community. Harry Venning, creator of the original Clare strip and co-writer of the radio series, also creates Hamlet each week as well as reviewing TV for The Stage's weekly print edition...

Ahh... it was so believable until the bit about John Barrowman not appearing. As if he'd turn anything down!

The number of comments on the last post was the cause of the 'white page' errors -- there were so many that the server was cancelling the script because it was both taking too long and using too much memory when compiling the list of comments.

I've amended the server so that's less likely to happen in future, but still needed to close the comments. You can now use this thread as a Loppy home.

DVO and JB are presenting the breakfast show on Capital all this week together. Don't let KS know. I only heard a bit of it this morning but I thought they were being a bit saucey for the school run. JB will be on Paul O'Grady I think later in the week. Gets around doesn't he?

Hurray found you all – home sweet home – although of course we are still in Rome, apart from Aunty Eva who came back early (muttering something about “too much walking”) with the BHB yesterday when he came home to do the evening job. The rest of us will be returning from our Roman Holiday later today (in time for me to get there really tomorrow!). Have been checking the flight and it has left almost on time every day (5 mins late today) so as long as the luggage follows me we should be ok –have checked in on line already!. Right where were we, oh the itinerary for today – for your cultural delight we will be visiting the Roman Forum and the Imperial Forum as well as Circus Maximus (very nice restaurant nearby), before heading for home so I can do my packing. Lost track of you adventures yesterday as my laptop threw an enormous wobbly – I was sending an email when the screen went into freeze and then went black. Haven’t been able to get it to work since! Anyway I will try and follow the trail and see what you got up to whilst I was busy rehearsing. Finally, Scott Dear, thank you for the new home (although this is the third time I have tried to post this!).

Getting lost in strange places, being unable to communicate with the natives etc. I think we all need to relax at home with our lovely BHB for a little while before we embark on any more adventures! Ali Dav - you asked on t'other blog how to change your name back to "normal". Click on your name in the leave a comment section here, which will take you to the Live Journal site. Click on User Info then log in at the top right of the next page. Click on Edit Personal Information (just above the bow with all the icons in). When the page comes up you will see your display name in the yellow box thing & be able to change it. Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes (I missed that bit the first couple of times I tried & couldn't work out why it wouldn't work!). When you come back to this page, you will need to sign out, but when you sign in again your name should have updated. Not sure if it works the same way for Open ID & the others, but i'd imagine it's pretty similar.

I love Rome too. Went when I was about 20 for a week and then again for one day for work - I had to deliver a parcel and after that had rest of day to wander. Keep telling Ploppy we should go as he’s only been to Italy once and that was for skiing.

We had a lovely day yesterday - went on a boat into the Knysna Heads with our friends, nice lunch, then went to a viewpoint above a beach where you can sometimes see dolphins though unfortunately didn‘t yesterday. Today is a scorcher so having a quiet morning and going to a game park late this afternoon. The holiday is flying by.

That's ok Carol. BHB made my coffe so nice & strong, and sang to me so sweetly while I drank it that I'm ready to face anything now. Even crowds of tourists and Romans! Besides, I've never been to Rome so I'm really enjoying our guided tour.

Ooh Diana, your holiday sounds nicer each time you post!! Between you & Carol we get to have 2 virtual holidays at once, lovely!

It's such a lovely day here in the South East that I'm not too envious of Diana. Had to make the most of the mild spell, because the weather forecast is saying more cold winds and even snow for the week end! I went for a lovely walk along the real seafront this morning. Booootiful!
I've had a funny (haha) radio morning. Sarah Kennedy was talking about David Essex and played GMYAS, then later when I moved over to Norwegian radio, they played Bad Day and All Right Now within 20 minutes! Of course none of these were a patch on GO's songs!

Well Aunty Eva it may be sunny in the South East but in London we have rain! Saw the forecast for this weekend - glad I'll be away....oh yes where is it I am going?? Rome! When I get back it will be less than 2 weeks to the next GO visit - in my Row A with Auds! Was thinking I might have sneak the laptop to Rome, but now it's gone phut on me, that's not going to happen! Will have to take it to the doctor next weekend....although we have a wedding to go to in the afternoon - wearing the dress I bought in Kaliko in Stradford, Fi! Of course being away at the weekend means I shall mis IDA - so full reports from you all are expected! Boss just rung me from Tenerife with a job to do whilst he is away....reminded him I am not in tomorrow or Friday! Ok back to our historical tour. I really like the Roman forum, it's near the centre and hustle and bustle but seems like a calm oasis. The Imperial forums (I think there were four or five of them) were built to accommodate the overflow from the main forum - I think Julius Caesar built one of them. Not a lot left of the Circus Maximum, which is now a park (last time we were in Rome there was a scout jamboree there) but you can see the remains of the track where the chariots raced - any of you see Ben Hur over Easter....gives you an idea of what it was like! Nice fish restuarant nearby where we will retire shortly for lunch and vino!

I've taken on a temporary position (voluntary post) and it is mentally and emotionally exhausting at present, I need the blog to keep me sane (?) while I deal with it and desperately missed the "normality". I know you lot will understand that!
I'm really looking forward to our Norwich fest on Friday as I can forget everyone else's problems for a while and just be a loppy, unfortunately not a lush one as I'm driving, but maybe one with lunch? oh, who am I kidding, DEFINITELY one with lunch!!

Have had a very busy few days so I really am not to sure of what has been happening, I realise Carol is off to Rome, have a lovely Holiday Carol, and that Jo4 is poorly, hope you feel better soon, and Maeve has had a special Birthday Card, congralutions Maeve.
As reported I went to see Hairspray on Monday with Scollop, it really is worth seeing, although as Shirley2 said I am not sure it would be on my list to see again.
Michael Ball was terrific, when the 2nd half started MB and Ian Talbot do a duet well towards the end Ian Talbot for some reason started laughing, and then he couldn't stop he was laughing so much he had to put his face against MB's back they both had to ad lib, till the end of the scene.
Leanne was of course brilliant as well, and Ben well you would have thought the part of Link was written for him he so suited it, he threw himself into the role, and looked as though he was having a ball, singing and dancing like there was no tomorrow, but then all the cast were brilliant, a very proffesional show.
The adience were great, cheering and clapping throughout the show, and at the end there was a standing ovation, Michael Ball hugged Ben at the end, I don't know whther he does that every night, but it is definatley a show worth seeing.
Back to School for another 2 days this week then I am not working till end of April.

Maeve, I went to Budapest years ago whilst it was still behind the Iron Curtain - I was in Vienna for a while and went across on the train. Went to a fantastic fish restaurant in Pest (we stayed in Buda) - the people were lovely, charming and helpful, but there were lots of Russian soldiers around. I remember they did really nice pastries there!! Enjoy (and your birthday!). Sorry feeling on a high myself as OFF TO ROME TOMORROW MORNING! Yipee!!! I'll send you nice positive thoughts whilst I'm gone though! Haven't heard from Jane-E - hope she is back safely??

I'm not sure about down but I'm quite bad tempered although that is w**k related mainly (although family members are pushing their luck.) What we could do with is a really lovely spring weekend when everyone can get out without winter coats. Well that would cheer me up no end. Some hope.

Maeve there are lots of spas in Budapest. I think they are like public baths and quite cheap to get in. One is massive and you could spend all day in the different rooms. The other is quite ornate and beautiful but much smaller. I went for a weekend a couple of years ago and I loved the smaller one but my friend preferred the large one. Have a lovely time whatever you do. You too Carol. Enjoy your trips.

Some unexpected time off work, went to a seminar, the speaker was late as he was sent to Manchester by mistake, instead of Sunbury!! He set off back and was expected about 3.30 intead of a 2.00 start. My colleague and I looked through the course notes, and still had an hour to wait, so decided to go home.

I do have some stuff I need to be getting on with though, too good an opportunity to miss.

Eva it was no problem. The only thing was I couldn't let you go on your own, as you needed a carer! So I had to book a ticket for myself, didn't want to see the show, as I've read some bad reports in the press about it, just had to make the sacrifice!!!

Carol - iam relying on you to scout out all the restaurants and wine bars in rome for us fro later in the year. Think of it as your loppy duty! I wore my Stratford kaliko dress to 4oth birthday party last weekend. I must have looked Ok as got chatted up by guy who asked me when my 40th birthday party would be!!! it is a lovely dress with a rather more revealing decolletage than I realised but it also was a very dark room! Of course I could have told him in 13 years.

Maeve - enjoy Budapest. We booked to go 2 years ago and airline cancelled with no alternative with 3 days to go. we had to go to court and send bailiffs into airline to get money and compensation. With the compensation we are off next week to swanky hotel in southwold for our silver wedding anniv. Beats caravan site which is where we normally stay.

Ali and Karen2 - i too feel lacking in a littel sparkle tho the jaunts around rome are envigorating - esp the long and liquid lunches.

Oh flip, I have turned into calamity loppy again!! Earlier on I sent an open bottle of nail polish flying across the kitchen worktop (fortunately I managed to get it cleaned up before it did any damage!). Then, I took the bin liner out of the swing bin and there was a hole in the bottom of the liner, so the contents of the bin liner were deposited on the kitchen floor whereupon the cat thought I'd put her dinner out and launched herself at the pile of rubbish for a good old rummage, scattering said contents everywhere, so I've had all that to clean up too!!

I'm crackered now so I'm going to settle down with a large glass of Pinot Grigio and watch Desperate Housewives (yes I know it's a load of rubbish but I like it, call me sad if you must!!).

Finally got onto the blog after more hoop jumping - how can a person forget their password within 48 hours? I'm only 27 for heaven's sake - and now everyone's bidding goodnight to all??
Managed to read the past day and half's worth on the bus home... but now have the rest of the evening to catch up on. Another late night at work - hopefully from tomorrow on it's easy sailing for at least a week, so I hope to be visiting here more often.
Carol - have a wonderful time in real Rome. I know you should be in bed by now, but I'm guess you aren't. Hope the weather's as fine for you in reality as it has been for us in our alternate universe whilst in Rome. I've thoroughly enjoyed the guided tours from such a knowledgable source.

Morning all. I think we all need a shake up today. "Pack up your truobles in an old kit bag" and all that, you know. I have decided that before we settle down to be nice and cosy at the Bistro, it's time to shake those legs, ladies!
It's a beautiful day here at the beach, so I thought we could do a HAPPY WALK ! I don't quite know what it is, either, but it sounds good, doesn't it? We'll walk along here, in a long line, sing a song or two, do a dance or two. That should set us up for the day.
Of course we need someone to swim over to France for some extra supplies of wine. As our champion Channel swimmer isn't here any more, I've decided to appoint Maeve to do that. She loves swimming and is tough as old boots, aren't you Maeve? You won't mind a quick detour over to France? Here is your rucksack, some grease to apply (We don't want you to freeze, do we?) and some Euros. Half a dozen bottles should do it for lunch today. There already is a supply of champers in the Bistro. Off you go, then, and remember to say "Merci" to the Frenchies.

Have been to France a lot and Norfolk - esp Sandringham (CC site usually). havent used so much recently as youngest scollop at "in between" stage - not child and not adult (well not adult enough to be left in charge of house while we are on hol!). Hope to use it more again soon. ploppy would love motorhome but i ma not so sure.

I have just gone back to PT work (3 days only) after years of juggling 2 (sometimes 3 and 4) jobs to make 1 FT job. Thought i would love it but only second week and i am bored already. Where is everyone? I might be reduced to having to do h......k.

Off to get scollop up - need to wash his bedclothes:))- and then for swim.

Morning all. Hope you’re OK now Jo4 and that there are no other poorly Loppies. Thank you for the links. Have caught up with the blog up to my last post, excluding the bit on Carys site - I think the latter will have to wait till we’re back and I can join up using the PC. Much as I love my laptop and have no regrets buying it, wireless connection isn’t nearly as reliable as broadband (famous last words …) and having to keep recharging the batteries is a pain. Will have to see if can get longer life ones or a second set.

Read the blog (having saved it yesterday morning) last night with the laptop on my lap in front of the TV and next to Ploppy - first time I‘ve done that and I don‘t think it‘ll be the last. Ploppy’s head kept nodding forward and his eyes closing as I read and typed this - Arsenal v Liverpool on telly.

Jo4, I’ve got a few arty photos to add to your’s and Pauline2’s forthcoming exhibition. However, my photos have improved with visits. Actually when I was talking to a friend of mine about taking after show show photos, she suggested buying a special card which saves much quicker than the standard ones. I’m going to investigate when we get back and if they work in my camera will buy one. Although I got some decent pics last time, I could have got even more if I hadn’t been waiting for the previous photo to save.

Think I’ve missed Carol - shouting loudly in vain hope she’ll hear: Have a great time Carol and hope T5 behaves. Hope she’s taken some underwear in her hand luggage just in case! The Spanish Steps is my fav part of Rome but I also love the Forum. My brother and I were totally in awe when we visited The Forum more years ago than I care to think about. After we looked round, we found our parents just sitting in a sheltered spot enjoying the sun, not bothered where they were - we couldn’t believe they didn’t feel the same as us and kept repeating “But this is THE Forum“.

The game park was very good. We saw a baby white rhino of about 11 weeks, he was so cute - actually should say it as could have been female for all I know. Also saw lots of springbok and others from the deer family - can never remember all their names, zebra, 3 giraffe, hippopotamus, buffalo ….. There was also a lion who I felt sorry for. The driver got the vehicle right next to the creature and he wasn’t at all bothered by our presence - he was about 4 years old and seemed half tame, nothing at all like the lions we saw in Etosha in Namibia which were real scary.

Interesting that the 3 week hol Sept/Oct has been cancelled and yes it may well mean that 18 Oct will be the final night. I’m half pleased if that is the case as I have been dreading it being extended to early Jan when we’re away. Might well look to get tickets for another date around mid Oct in that case if there are some decent ones left. I was due to go with Ploppy in May but he’s recently told me it’s the night before he’s away for a few days and has an early start so doesn‘t want to go (not that he particularly wanted to go in the first place). Was very pibbed off with him but I do understand that he doesn‘t want to be out the night before. So one of the friends staying with us at present is coming to Joe with me instead. But I’m still determined to get Ploppy to Joe with Lee once!!

OK Karen 2 - I'm still writing the review - I know I'm lax! She OTRWD loved it! And you'll see why she was particularly delighted with it when I get the review sorted!

OK After popular demand - well Karen2 anyway - here is part 1 of my review:-

Well my Joseph adventure started Sunday night when She of the red wedding dress (hence forth to be referred to as Donna or D, for the sake of brevity) and her friend Helen arrived on Sunday evening. We spent the night reminiscing about Joseph. D is the lass that has seen the BK production 215 times (honest it’s true!), so there was quite a lot of reminiscing to be done and we stayed up with a bottle of rose (yes Eva – pink stuff!) till midnight.

We met up with the fourth musketeer, Caz, on Monday morning then off to London on the train!

We found the hotel without too much difficulty (well we only had to walk along a perfectly straight road after all) and spent the next hour preening ourselves in our adjoining rooms.

Eventually we decided the time had come for dinner, and set out for La Tasca’s in Covent Garden, because H had a voucher which entitled us to 50% off. Well C and I took the lead, with helpful guidance from D & H. We discovered that we have something in common – none of us have any sense of direction. We stopped – carefully consulted the map, looped around in a big circle then discovered the restaurant we were aiming for – it was where we’d stopped to take our bearings – we’d all had our backs to it!

Anyway – excellent meal (more rose) and then to the Adelphi!

Our navigational challenges put us a little bit behind schedule, so we decided not to try to find the other Loppies in the theatre bar (soory Woozie and Baloo!) and made our way straight to our seats in box C. Now here’s a tip, for Geri and our more petite Loppies – D managed to nick for booster cushions from the shelves opposite the box (there were loads there – honest) so we settled down in comfort.

Show time, and the GO descended in his cloud of dry ice, grinning happily – D clutched my hand – there were tears in her eyes (aw bless!).

Now I have to admit, I didn’t think the experience could possibly be as fantastic as sitting in the front row stalls (just behind the conductor, eh Auds?), but it was. H whooped out loud when the GO lost his shirt, and has now declared she has a ‘thing’ for white knee socks.

CED was just as fabulous as always (yes everyone, lots of sweat), and the dancers in Those Canaan Days seemed even more exuberant than ever.

The view from the box was excellent, (though the GO had his back to us during the re-uniting with Daddy scene – which didn’t stop tears coming to my eyes!) and the whole performance was just pure magic!

Come the mega-mix only half a dozen people in the stall stood –up – and no one in the circles that I could see. One area of the theatre had 100% standing and bopping about – that would be box C then!

In fact H & C jumped to there feet as though they are on springs! D and I pushed our chairs back and the four boogied like mad. Several members of the cast looked over to us and treated us to big smiles, then Dean actually waived at H, much to her delight.

The GO ascended on the cherry picker up to the Upper Circle, and the four of us still dancing and laughing. He descends, gets level to the Dress Circle, turns towards us and gives us all a mega-watt smile that had all four of us melting – and he waived! Right at Donna!

So after we’d scraped She OTRWD off the floor of the box (I mean – proper thud moment there!) and we’d calmed down enough to actually talk about the show – H declared herself to be a Loppy and D decided that she’s a Joppy (Joseph Obsessed Person).

Needless to say – the word ‘enjoyed’ really doesn’t cover the experience!

There’s a lot more I want to tell you, but I’ve run out of lunch-time! I’ll try to get part deux – the aftermath to you tonight!

JaneE,- the dress is pinkish and the beach is a pebble beach, so do you mind telling us what you've been up to, and where?
It's really beautiful on the real beach too. While I was in town shopping, I couldn't resist a little walk along the seafront. Sun shining with a light breeze ! Heaven! Syd wasn't too bad today. We had a cup of tea and a natter, and that seems to perk him up.
Scott dear,- you will be soooooo relieved to hear that THE STAGE IS BACK IN TOWN !!!!! You can have your commision this week, and your Saturday night party is back on!
Pauline2,- it is the way you always lock the kitchen door when you and BHB are in there together that leads me to believe you are re-living some of your past !
Diana,- thank you for your update. It sounds really good, especially the bit about you sitting on the sofa, laptop in your lap and Ploppy snoring beside you !!!

JaneE,- you were posting your review whilst I was writing my last post, so I didn't see it. It sounds to me that was a proper Loppy Night alltogether. How wonderful it all sounds. Bring on June, is all I can say!

Karen - you are not alone, I also love Desperate Housewives and have watched it since the beginning! Does anyone watch Greys Anatomy on Channel 5? I love that too as well as ER and my favourite - Lost!! Unfortunately I don't have Sky so my Mum has to video it for me - as you can imagine she loves me for that! I also watched the Apprentice and cringed most of the way through! I forgot to tell you all that as a treat for my Mums birthday we are off to see Jersey Boys at the end of May! We have got excellent seats - row D of the stalls - as we were booking it I kept thinking I wish I had such good seats for Joseph!!

Pauline2 - I know what you mean about DH and other US shows. The best series is always the first and its easy to loose interest in them as they have so many episodes! Especially Lost - miss one episode and you are doomed! Will definitely post a review of Jersey Boys as I think it is a musical that everyone would enjoy.

Eva - I think a quick refresher swim course with the BHB is essential for both Maeve and I but whether we will be in any state to put on our rucksacks afterwards, let alone swim the channel is another matter. We might have to put it off till Saturday

Pauline2 dont worry I ended up not being that bored after all. Went for a swim and then a friend who has just trained as nail technician put false nails on me - as I never have nice nails and she wanted me to look nice for going away next week. And I def cant do h......k with these nails! Mind you jolly hard to type too:))

In the real world I had a doctor's appointment complete with hangover! I went to visit some friends in need last night - laughter, tears and lots of red stuff!! I felt decidedly worse for wear this morning, but the chief and deputy lush loppies would have been proud!
Currently catching up with last night's Apprentice, what a bunch?
It has been another glorious day here in Norfolk so it puts me in a much better frame of mind, plus our loppy meet is getting closer too! Tonight I plan to veg out on the sofa with the laptop, a (soft) drink and the tv all to myself as ploppy is working late - bliss!

So I've missed the lovely walk on the beach? just a thought what happens when we have drunk the wine that Maeve has so kindly swum to get( and lets face it it isn't going to be long before its all gone with us Lush's around)

This Josh Groban site suggests they have heard from someone at BBC Radio that the Phantom concert is not going ahead :( - or at least not at the moment(hope they have got it wrong).

It says original info came from the blog on the fojb [friends of Josh Groban] site - I've tried to go on there to check for further details - but you have to be a member to view.

Well, it wasn't my scoop, it was the newsdesk's -- Matt Hemley, our broadcasting reporter, did all the leg work. He's been able to confirm that it won't now being going ahead this June. There'll be more in next week's paper.

What is going on - first Connie's album (with Lee on it)being put back months and now the Phantom concert, how very disappointing. Wonder if Lee will still be off those 3 days.
Re jenni - unfortunately she makes good TV so she may well be there for some time yet. They wont get rid of the ones we love to hate so quickly. They had the girl who lost on the BBC this morning and she said they were int he boardroom arguing their cases for 2 hours - we only say a tiny fraction of what actually went on

Just read the news about the Phantom concert, or rather the lack of it!!! So sad, It would have been wonderful. I wonder what the problems are about these ALW birthday events, they all seem to be doomed. Will MH from the Stage have any answers?
It has also been suggested that Lee's 'holidays' in September were actually something connected to ALW type Proms in the Park etc, and have been cancelled also. In which case, it has no bearing on whwther he might or might not extend his run in Joseph.
Only consolation is that he was considered for all these things, and the cancelation of them will be for reasons that have nothing to do with him. Doesn't help us Loppies desperate for further activity on his part though.

Jo4, calm down dear, you'll only have a relapse and I think you might be going somewhere tomorrow?
It is sad that the concert isn't going ahead, but maybe not all is lost and it will happen later. It seems to me that as soon as news like this breaks, they cancel!
Thinking with all these swimming scollops around, if Shirley2 needs a hand with all the wine tomorrow, maybe they could lend a hand!

Lady Jane’s London Adventure Part Two –

So where were we – oh yeah – Caz, Helen, Donna (She OTRWD) and I, in the box after the show fanning ourselves and squealing – ‘He waived at Donna!’ at regular intervals – see we’re all very mature and ladylike, we are.

We left the box, handing back our booster cushions to a highly amused usher, who kept teasing us about our Northern accents.

Out side the scrum was the politest of the three I’ve been too. The security guards didn’t seem to feel the need to move anyone back – there wasn’t any shouting and screaming, and the small amount of shoving that did occur was accompanied by ‘Oh, I’m sorry.’
Except for one bloke – D, C & H had got themselves to the centre of the crowd, in the middle of the doors – not a prime position – and as always I stood a little further back. The GO came out (wearing that little black woollen hat that covers his curls – shucks!) and handed out the pre-signed photos as usual. There was a family stood behind me who couldn’t move forward coz their little boy was doing the ‘I WANNA GO HOME NOW!!’ thing, so when D got hold of a few of the photos are lifted them up to pass them back, I reached out to take a couple for the family. This tall bloke standing next to D leaned over and literally ripped the whole bunch from her hand! G*t!

Well after that we all moved right to the pack. None of us managed to any decent photos to add to the collection, but we didn’t care! We floated back to the hotel courtesy of Cloud 9.

Back in the hotel bar, we settled down for drinkies and some post show giggling, when an elderly man with a newspaper comes up to us. He tells us that he’s 78 (repeatedly) and that he does magic tricks. This seems just a little bit bizarre, but the old chap brings out a pack of cards and proceeds to do some conjuring. C at this point, picks up his newspaper and manages to loose herself in the sports pages – while thanks to Geri and Karen, I managed to get absorbed in a text conversation – both of us heroically leaving D & H to deal with the conjurer. Actually, he turned out to be quite a nice guy, part of a conference staying at the hotel (and not a conman as we’d originally feared), so we let him entertain us with his tricks – some of which were rather good.

He left eventually, only to return ten minutes later with a balloon palm tree complete with bananas and monkey. Naturally this brought on an energetic chorus of Benjamin Calypso from the four of us, and for some reason he went away.

None of us wanted the evening to end – it was 2am before we hit the sack.

Next morning we decided to go and see Buckingham Palace. Due to our highly trained navigational skills, we failed completely and we forced to start the journey home.

But, on our way from the tube station D let out a shriek. A little dwarf mouse (cunningly disguised as a vole – D didn’t manage to identify it till she got home) was wandering over the pavement getting blown about in by the wind. Now D adores small animals and naturally just had to rescue it. She put out her hand and the little thing crawled straingt onto her fingers then cuddled up in her coat – we are talking seriously cute here!

D took it to a patch of grass where we thought it would be safe and after some coaxing it left her and started running about among the daffodils. Awwwwww!

And really that’s it. The train journey home was uneventful – C left us in Leeds and D & H came to my house for a brew, and to bore Ploppy to death with our excited ramblings.

I’m still getting texts from D telling me what a fantastic time she had, and wishing she could have kept the mouse – and have just had a long e-mail conversation with C re when can she go again!

All in all – I think we can say we had a bl**dy good time!

Sorry – I shall now stop rambling!

Why did the man have a palm tree balloon though? And loved the cute mouse, awww. It all sounds a great time, and I want to go again!

Thank goodness today is over, it's been the day from hell. I like to think I keep calm in a crisis, particuarly at work, but today has been so manic I've been whizzing around like some kind of Tazmanian Devil with PMT!! I'm exhausted!!

So, Ali, I'm taking a leaf out of your book and settling in front of the TV with the laptop. The difference is, my drink is most definitely alcoholic (naturally) and Ploppy isn't out but I've kicked him into the other room and told him not to disturb me for a couple of hours, and we're having takeaway pizza so no dinner to cook either. Now, before you feel sorry for Ploppy, don't, it means he gets to watch sport to his hearts content - he thinks this is me being nice to him - men are so gullible!!

Fi - you are a brave woman indeed. I took driving lessons many many years ago. My dad took me out for a lesson on one occasion and we were driving along me at the wheel, age 17 (ten years ago!!), the world at my feet, full of confidence when we came to some road works and to go round them I had to go on to the wrong side of the road, as I was passing the roadworks a car approached from the opposite direction, obviously on the same side of the road as me. I saw it coming and just panicked, and was yelling at my dad to "do something". He kept trying to calm me down and tell me to keep going, the other car would let me pass but I'd lost it by this time so I just stopped the car and got out and left my poor dad stranded in the middle of the roadworks!! When we eventually got home he poured himself a very large whisky and lit a cigarette (he rarely smoked and never drank whisky!!). Needless to say he didn't take me out again and I gave up soon after that and never did learn to drive!

Jill - never fear about running out of wine. Remember it's a bottomless bottle!!

Jane - you had me in hysterics with the second part of your review. Glad Geri and I could be of service to rescue you from the old chap!! And when you got to the bit where Donna shrieked on your way from the tube, I thought, omg they saw the GO and when you said it was a mouse I was in stitches! Talk about a big build up!!

Karen,- My father was my first driving teacher too, and before he would let me go on to a professional driving teacher, he demanded that I could reverse down this mountain, all the way. There was lots of bends, and my sister who came with us, was walking in front (or rather back) of the car and shushed all the sheep out of the way. I did it, and ended up with a crinked neck and a headace, but boy, can I reverse!
Our own theatre,- now there is an idea. Who would be our number 1 star? Any suggestions?

Hi JaneE, bit late in catching up with you all sorry, loved the review it was like being back there, thanks for the mention, don't worry about not catching up with Debbie and I as we didn't make the theatre bar either but we did introduce ourselves to Baloo and ClaireT in the scrum. I couldn't remember where you said you were sitting, found you very easily once the show started though, "how"? oh just the fact that you were singing all the way through. When the megamix started I wanted to stand up but I had two children behind me and felt that it wouldn't be fair on them, I looked over the balcony and as you said was amazed to see only a few standing. Debbie and I went a few weeks before (back row stalls) and everyone was standing, having said that the atmosphere was great even with a seated megamix. So jealous of your very own 'party in a box' What do you miss of the stage at the Adelphi being in a box? Debbie and I saw Dirty Dancing from a box, well a third of Dirty Dancing to be exact , you could see the whites of their eyes but only if they were on the far side of the stage. Any way maybe we will catch up some other time, bye for now Woozie x

Driving stories - ah well many years ago the night before my test I drove car between large brick wall and police car and got stuck. then 2 policemen arrived with a violent struggling "prisoner" and found they couldnt get into their car as i was blocking it (and another brick wall on other side). They were not pleased!!

BTW I passed my test.

Diana - meant to say - enjoyed the safari. Have always wanted to go on one.

Ploppy loves the Apprentice and I watched end of it last night(after Pilates). The girls did not do us proud.

Eva - I'm impressed - reversing through sheep?? I never got as far as reversing through anything!!

Jane - talking of balloons - you reminded me of something, and I'm going to let you all into a secret here. Ssh, make sure there's only us lot listening - my ploppy used to be .............a balloon dancer!!!!! Oh yes he did. Not for a living but just in his spare time!! The weird thing was I saw him balloon dancing before I met him. That doesn't make sense does it - after we met and started "going out together" he told me that he did this sometimes as a double act with his best mate. I asked him where he "performed" and he told me that it was my local nightclub, and that was when I remembered that I'd seen him before. The thing is, they used to do this on stage with a mirror, the full length of the stage, behind them, and yet his face wasn't familiar!!!!!

Oh dear, if there's ever a loppy/ploppy meet don't tell him I told you that!!

Hi there Woozie! Great to here from you! Honest - It wasn't me doing all the singing - that was Donna of the Red Wedding Dress! She just adores Joseph! I was the one in the middle in the white top. Funnily enough the four of us were trying to work out where you and Debbie were!

The great thing about the box (yes I know - I'm harping on about it) was the fact we could get up knowing we weren't spoiling anyone's view - and the view was excellent, if you don't mind leaning forward to see the near hand edge of the stage.

Carys - yes, I forgot to say thank you for setting up your site.

Morning all, my that got the circulation going, I mean the thought of BHB and Ramps doing a balloon dance, not the actual dancing! That really is worth getting up for. It's not easy dancing and pouring drinks at the same time, it takes dedication and practice. Auds really can move though, didn't realise she could kick that high.
Beautiful day here today, typical, I'm helping my friends deck the hall this afternoon for tomorrows party. I promised ages ago, but I would rather be outside in the garden, and the weather is going to be 'orrible this weekend.

Just caught up on last nights trip near the gutter. As I was reading I thought "I wonder what balloon dancing is" and then there it was!! I don't really know what to say but it certainly brought a smile to my face. Karen I think it for the best that you never bring your Ploppy to a Loppy meet because we'd all be grinning at him and it might make him a bit paranoid.

Hi all, I've found you then. Seems like I've been away for ages, but just slightly distracted by real life: scollop and dollop on holiday, so plenty to do to keep them amused.
I did manage a trip to THE show with ploppy on Tuesday, had a great time, but rather blurry photo evidence of scrum.

Karen2,- I'm afraid you have to be Fred. Geri has bought up Ireland's total stock of sequins. She's even got them on her knickers!
Ladies, you would have been proud of me today! What have I gone and done? Repaired my washing mashine, that's what! I started up Mrs. Bosch when I got up this morning, but when I went to peg it all out, I realised that the washing was literally dripping wet. No spin dryer working! This has happened before, and at that time I called in a repair man. He said it was probably only the fan belt that had jumped off the wheel. He unscrewed the back panel, put the fan belt back where it should be, screwed the back panel back on. It took him 2 1/2 minutes, and it cost me £30! When it happened again today, I thought I'd try to do it myself. I have more important things to spend my money on! The first thing I realised was that I needed a special screwderiver to undo the screws. Off I went to a tool shop, got the right tool, back home, dragged the machine out from the wall, unscrewed the back panel, found the fan belt, got it back on, screwed back the back panel, and voila! it's bl***y working!!!!!!!!! The only calamity was: one broken nail! Now i need a cup of herbal tea, my newspaper and some peace and quiet. Feeling very pleased with myself!

Eva - WELL DONE on your repair job, good for you
Back when I first moved into my house and my w. machine was delivered I read the instructions and decided I could certainly plumb it in myself.
The only difficulty was that I had to push it halfway under the counter before the outlet pipe would reach the drain, however a very small PB, who was only 3 yrs old was able to go in the tiny space and complete the job for me. His first bit of DIY!

On another note, as I already have my Ginger Rogers dress on and all buttoned up, I'm not changing roles now so we'll just have to both Ginger. We'll still be the best Loppy dancers!

No Eva I am not the cavalier, I actually was a Monk on that occasion but sure that I'm daft enough to put it on line, I do not wish to spoil the illusion and show you what I really look like.

Phew, busy day today, went early to Doctor's who does not think dizzy spell anything to worry about, probably just because my ears are full of wax. I do need to get them syringed regularly, but it's never made me dizzy before, so will get them done and see how it goes.

Then ploppy, who has his golf club's men's dinner tonight, asked could I let out the waistband of his dinner suit! Well I've done it, but I'd like him to be here to have seen how fiddly a job it is, but where is he? Playing golf of course!!

Now I've got a holiday DVD to finish.

Pity I missed all the dancing, jive was always mine and ploppy's best dance. Hopefuly we'll get back to those lessons soon, in fact Monday, so thanks for reminding me.

Friend's dress for wedding sucessfully chosen - only took 5 hours - then when paying for it noticed a tear so they have to order another one.

Maggie has returned from the Norwich meet, and parked her broomstick.
Ali, Barbie, Elisabeth and Chris - Maggie says she had a good time but apologises for the coughing fits, she has settled on the sofa with a large hot toddy and is trying to shake off a headache, the house is like a sauna but she is cold ( I might have to sit in the garden before I melt)

I don't know if I have been going round with my eyes closed,but I was looking at Lee's lovely new message and at the bottom it says that he is under new managementand that he is no longer represented by International Theatre and Music.

Karen I had EXACTLY the same experience on a driving lesson with my Dad! After that he insured my boyfriend to drive the car and sent him out with me, boyfriend couldn't believe his luck and it saved Dad and I from falling out.

I just saw the weather forecast for the weekend: Incoming snow on Sunday! That made me change my wekend plans. I was meant to go up to London tomorrow to a birthday party and stay over, but as I HAVE to be back Sunday, I'll be driving home again tomorrow night. No drinks for me then, tomorrow night! Re: the Grand National. I am such a hypocrite on this and I admit it. On the one hand I love to watch the horses before hand parading proudly around (I'm a closet horse lover!!)but then I hate to watch the race in case any of them fall and get injured because it just upsets me so much and yet I still pick a horse to back every year. No tips for you though Ali, cos I usually pick according to what colour the outfit is that the jockey's wearing - very technical I am!!

Jo4 - as a horse person perhaps you could help me out here because I get into a debate every year about whether the horses actually enjoy the race or not. I'm not sure they do but everybody else seems to think they love it. What's the truth?

Eva - let me save you the trouble - no need to talk to the BHB tomorrow, I can confirm that his skills in erecting a fence are beyond compare (I was going to phrase that another way!!).

Hi all, just lost my post so will try to put it in a nutshell.
Thanks to Maggie, Ali, Chris and Barbi for being great company at the Norwichfest. I got home rather later than planned and dollop and scollop, who'd stayed with a friend, were slightly disapproving and asked me why I hadn't phoned to let them know. I thing we'll have a role reversal soon, with dollop having reached the ripe old age of 13 recently.

Just to let you know I didn't drown, well not quite - I was so weighed down with all the wine as Maeve had deserted me - remind me never to volunteer for anything again and I'm totally cream crackered. In between lugging all the supplies back I had to stuff thousands of envelopes and my washing machine broke down too with all the washing still inside. I couldn't get hold of my man (you can never find one when you want one I find) so its still unusable - Eva - I didn't realise you were a mechanic can you work your magic on mine, its not a Bosch though. I hope tomorrow is a better day, I'm just gong to tip myself into bed now telling myself NEVER AGAIN - I didn't even get the pre-swim lesson from the BHB, shows how much he cares, he said he couldn;t get out of the kitchen but I dont think he treid hard enough

I've just watched DVO and I thought she was lovely and very tastefully dressed and I thought it was really sweet when she said that she was trying to be more grown up! Poor Shirley2, I am so sorry you suffered this morning and I promise I'll be good tomorrow and you can borrow BHB. Maybe we should requisition one of those inflatable lifeboats with an outboard motor. The rate we are getting through supplies tonight we might need quite a lot of bottles to top up! If you take BHB to France we will need him back in reasonable time as Eva needs him to start her new business.

Fi- No unfortunately not a hangover, although if she had gone out with the Dublops, it probably would of been by the sounds of it.
Here is an interesting fact, most men in Dublin are called Paddy!
when we went over to Ireland to see some of Maggies family in Longford and had a little holiday in Galway, we were trying to find our way through Dublin in the hire car, and everytime we stopped to ask directions we were told "I'll ask Paddy" or "Go next door and ask Paddy" it was quite funny really.

Elisabeth- what you have got to understand is that the only way Norwich City can put bums on seats, is to give the tickets away, nobody want to pay and watch them, should support a decent team like IPSWICH TOWN the Super Blues, no seriously I hope City win Today, will help out Ipswich in the table.

Anyway the dog has got her legs crossed, so better take her out and go to bed.

Haven't caught up with today.

Well, what a day. Trains all fine, thanks for the ooohhhmms. I met up with SueF, she was loitering by the stage door. Then we went into the bar opposite the stage door to have a drink (it’s alright she had a wine, so kept up the standards, I, of course had my usual). We waited about 30 mins for Claire, we met her when Ringer came over and at AT. Then we chatted for a bit, went outside to lurk. Claire had a pressie for James (understudy – proper one). There were others lurking. It was then 6 so I had to dash to meet friend. While I was waiting got texts (one from her and one from her PA) to say she was really ill and had to go home. So I dashed out to catch Claire (spare ticket+spare Loppy=happy Loppy). I met Claire and Sue walking towards me. Well, Claire was sort of floating about 1ft off the floor (approx 20cms Eva). She had nice chat with James, saw Lee dashed off and chat with him (lovely photo) then went back to finish talking to James (hope he didn’t feel too bad about that). Bar was busy so we went to Costa, as Claire was still shaking. We bagged seats then looked to counter and saw Dean. Of course as proper Loppies we did not button hole him as this is an out of bounds area. 7pm so off to the show.
Lots of cast changes, Red tank topped dancer not there (he of the high lifts in Canaan days), ditto his usual partner. Normal butler not there. One of the girls who sits on Pharaoh's steps not there, so the other one was on the stage and 2 different girls used. Different Ahh Ahh girl in one more Angel in heaven.
Nice clean loin cloth, lots of bounce, lots of sweat, no stubble noted (AliB). Mike went funny in CED. Failed completely in Go Go Joseph. We could still hear him in Row C Dress circle.
Jenna was really belting it out, they’ll have to turn down the volume if she gets any louder. I still like her though.
I had to take half a days worth of Strepsils to stop myself coughing (I only seem to cough when I get warm).
Sue, Claire and I stood up when cherry picker went up and could only see 2 in the stalls standing (one sat in front of me at AT). Quite a few people were standing in the dress circle. JaneE the boxes were quite subdued (mostly families).
I have cracked the pic thing in the scrum. I took a video. It will take longer to get the pics off, but at least they won’t make the expo at Tate Modern.
When I was walking back I heard a granny in a family party say ‘terrible how these older ladies behave’ could she have been talking about Sue and me? Not Claire, as of course she is far too young.
Claire and Sue send lots of thanks to Debbie of the pink fluffy slippers. And Claire is very happy my friend was ill, but sad for her of course. Now I’ll have to go again to take my friend, oh dear. I’ll make the sacrifice, after all I am a friend and that’s what they do.
Auds-Front stalls will be exactly the right antidote for you, I was a little wary about going today, would I feel the same? Yep, I’m buzzing.

Today's task starts with drinking this. Don't worry, there IS alcohol in it! That's better, down it goes. Want to know what's in it? Karen2 is hopping and jumping and gasping. The others are paler than ever,- if that's possible. OK, it contains red wine (4 drops) olive oil, white wine vinegar(!), finely chopped, raw onions, finely chopped red chili, strong, black coffe, honey and black pepper. Sounds good, doesn't it?
The next step is the HAPPY CHASE. It's very simple. BHB has agreed to start running and on the word GO you can start chasing him. The one who catches him first, get's two hugs,- from him, not me!
Ready,- off you go BHB. My, my, he does get up a great speed.

She did try to bring up the subject of the GO a couple of times but was not very successful. When she said about Maria and Joseph Al then barely mentioned her dating "the winner", not by name and moved on really quickly.

Morning all, well I was feeling fine but after that concotion I now feel terrible. Eva I do not do hangovers here, that is how I look first thing in the morning! The run into the sea was in an attempt to counteract the effects of your 'cure'. Morning all.
Karen the driving lessons with the boyfriend went well, only a couple of hiccups: I swerved violently to avoid a hedgehog and nearly gave him whiplash, and once I was so busy looking out of the window at something that I drove off the road (a quiet country lane fortunately!) into a load of nettles. I found it funny - he didn't!! I somehow passed my test 1st time though! The boyfriend is now living on the other side of the world, maybe that tells a different story?
I have to say I agree about the Grand National, I only ever bet on/watch this race, then end up watching it through my fingers and praying nobody (equine or human) is injured. Scollop has picked his by the jockey's colours - yellow and green for Norwich City, sorry Maggie and Martin!!
Btw Gillian I meant to say Ploppy finally got his money owed by former employer last week, many thanks for the advice. I do love it when we all help each other out like that. And now I'll finish as I've said far too much already!

Hello. Our friends have left and we’re three-quarters packed up - we’re not leaving until lunchtime tomorrow but it’s been overcast all day so have got most done today in the hope that tomorrow morning’s nice and can have a few last hours in the sun. I'm exhausted - guess who's done most of the work, while someone else has been golfing! So this will probably be my last post from SA, the next will be from the office sometimes on Monday sob sob. Well at least I’m not going to have tons of emails to trawl through as I’ve been deleting the rubbish each and have read the majority though not replied.

And I’ve got something to look forward to when we’re back - guess where I’m going in 10 days? And ROW A !!! In the middle! And I’m not going to the office the following 2 days (well I’m working from home afternoon of the 2nd day) so won’t have to get up at my usual time. One of Ploppy’s clients has invited us to the naming ceremony of a new cruise liner - it includes dinner, overnight stay and breakfast on the ship. Best bib and tucker so got to see which posh frock I can still get into!

Hope you had a great time Jo4. I’ve had similar experience to you when phoning See for tickets. They don’t seem to realise we really do want to be as close as possible to the stage - at least on some visits. A vole type creature (we’re not quite sure what it is) has a nest somewhere close to our garden here - there’s at least two of them. Yesterday morning we were sitting inside and looked out to see it running around the veranda. Only seen it up there once before - when it bit my toe!! At least I think that’s what bit me as it moved so swiftly I only got a glimpse. The veranda is about three feet above the garden but it uses a shrub to climb up. When we’re sitting outside, I usually put a board across the gap when the back door's open to prevent it, or anything else, getting into the house.

This is one of those rare levels of fame only the most elite and beloved obtain, the star known by their first name only. You know a few of them: Cliff, Elvis, Donny (but not the CO, which rather proves my point). These should not be confused with those who are elite and respected (not necessarily loved). These would include Nicholson, Streisand and Sinatra.

I've never been to Ireland. Nearly went there for a job interview some years ago. Decided that if they offered me the job (and I thought I had a really good chance) I wouldn't want to take the job because of the horses, so I told them no, twice!!. Yes, I know Ireland is famed for their horsemanship. It is just my old boy can be so very difficult. Some people would get mad at him. Where he is now they just laugh when he tries to punch your head with his front hooves.

Karen-earlier you posted [Jo4 - as a horse person perhaps you could help me out here because I get into a debate every year about whether the horses actually enjoy the race or not. I'm not sure they do but everybody else seems to think they love it. What's the truth?]
I never like to watch GN as it is so dangerous for horses and riders. Some horses love to race, all types of horses. My shire had a race today, of course she lost!! We were out with my friend and her horse, those 2 have a very competitive relationship, both must be a head in front. My horse can tell if the other is coming up behind and goes faster and faster, then of course the other belts past. Those horses bred for it love it even more. You can see that by the number of riderless horses that carry on the race. Sometimes I think it would be good to try to race horses like they do greyhounds.

Just popping in say that I disappeared earlier due to a very annoying internet connection, however every cloud has a silver lining and I decided to take the opportunity to show the boys around my very large garden, it's quite dark of course, Ramps got a bit nervous and wouldn't come any further than the patio but us Kar'ns are a brave lot so when we offered to hold their hands, BHB and JBJ were quite content to take a little walk down the garden and emm well yes, once we passed the back of the shed, well........ what's that they say, a lady never tells!!
Anyhoo, I think that we all had a night to remember and my head tells me I should lock up the drinks cabinet for a while. Please, nobody tell Eva, couldn't take that hangover cure again!

I had a good day yesterday, but it was a long day. Two parties really. The first was lunch to get the birthday girl (She was 80) out of the house so her son and DiL could prepare the house for a surprise party later. There were 8 of us, and her daughter who lives in Ireland was there, unbeknownst to her mother and father, so that was really lovely. Later back to their house where about 50(!) people were waiting, and it was GO GO GO from the word go. When I left shortly after midnight, the host was playing spoons(!), another one accordion, and a third a mandolin. No need to worry about the neighbours,- they were all there.

Now I need some breakfast and a quiet time with the Sunday paper. See you later.

Morning All, wow we have snow!
Looked out the window and thought for a second I was seeing things, (quite possible after last night)
Not on the grass, but on the cars and roofs and garden walls.
Reminds me of when PB was small and I once found some snowballs, complete with bits of grass, dirt etc in our kitchen freezer, he'd sneaked them in when I wasn't looking to keep them for future use! He explained that it would be great to be able to bring them out in the summer time, so what did good Mother do? Well I stored them in a plastic sandwich bag of course!

Managed to catch up now though am feeling a bit breathless, I think your party sounds great. Mind mine was good as well if a little sober for me. Unfortunately I was driving!! However the hall looked great and they had a live act, well one guy with guitar and beat box, but he was very good. Then he played PiB and Daydream Believer! I can honestly say there was no comparison, but I, at least was word perfect. He got DB wrong his razor 'stings' not 'sings', silly man.

It's snowing here now and Ploppy is on the conservatory roof - not a good combination!!

Well done the Heathrow and back journey this morning. We set out over an hour early because there was so much snow here. Fortunately as it was Sunday morning the motorway was fairly quiet so the fact that only 2 lanes were passable was not a problem. With it being so cold I needed to stop on the way, so we went into the services at Reading - expecting it to be quiet too, but it was packed solid. Nearly all men. Thousands and thousands of them. All Welsh and heading into Wembly. Coaches by the score. So for the first time in my life I was able to go straight to the loo, but my OH had to queue - I had been shopping in M&S by the time he came out.

And just heard now that his flight is delayed by 35 minutes already. Oh well.

Geri I can't do the August Bank Holiday!

No snow here at all and beautiful day. heading to Suffolk tomorow - wonder if snow there.

Geri - Aug Bank Hol fine. Ploppy not best pleased but i can live with that. Just checked Ryanair flights to Dublin that weekend (sat - Mon or Tues)and some avail at 1p! from E Midlands airport and prices from 1p-£10 from Stansted. Checked TravelLodge (city centre) too and rooms avail tho expensive as peak season (£110 per night for single or twin room)but Sep not much cheaper so if got twin rooms and shared not too bad.

Anyway i am up for it if others are. must go and get packed. For trip tomorrow not the August one:))

Loved that snow this a.m. As I was rousing from my sleep and listening to the early morning traffic (I live on the corner of a very busy junction)I thought my ears were blocked because all I could hear was the sound of muffled splashes as the cars past by... then when I opened the curtains, there was this gorgeous 'white out' with huge flakes floating and flitting about to settle onto the already 2inch deep layer on the ground. I felt like I was inside one of those little shaker bubble things.. that soft white blanket makes everything look so pretty... shame it doesn't last. ooo, having said that, a little flurry is starting up again... I'm glad it's an indoors day today - even tho that is synonymous with h/wk for me.. off to check that Mrs.Bosch has finished her share of the chores.
Almost forgot my tuppence worth on IDA - my favourite last night was Jody and who I'd like voted off tonight is Tara or Sarah. My fave three lads are Jonny, Jordan and Gareth.

Well I was late getting up this morning, so couldn't join you earlier. Tired after party and cat seemed to think he should practice for the London Marathon during the night by walking around the house lots of times, route of course included over my head each circuit. Also the snow meant no cars passing my house. Rushed and fed all, dashed out (I did dress), slow drive to stables. Then found all rides cancelled due to snow. Shame as had nearly 30 people over the day from a major department store, who thought they'd finish a southern area meeting with a ride.
Eva-and they say only the young can party.
All snow nearly gone now, except for a very large snowman in the park.
Carys-forgot to say good luck with the election, hope you realise what you're getting yourself into if you are successful. Chap opposite me was on the parish council for 3 years, he gave it up as could get no progress on anything.

just checked my pics, at least you can tell who it is. Howard looks very serious, he had just told GO something like only a few more minutes. Ears were not totally registering words at that time, can't think why.

JaneE-We have never cancelled for snow before, but then it doesn't snow much here. We were advised by the park bod not to go. By 1.30 it would have been OK, but we'd already cancelled all the riders. At least it gave me time to give the old one a really good comb/brush. I got about 2 carrier bags of hair out. He is really fluffy still. There are still lots of lumps of hair underneath, but he is so quick with the kicks when I pull a lump too hard. I gave him lots of carrots the praise him for not actually kicking me. He was just showing his displeasure and not aiming for me. He may be about 35 but he's still quick with his legs.

Just got back from a trip to a villiage between Warwick and Stratford, wondered about the journey this AM as woke to snow, but lovely sunshine up there, snow on the fields but not the roads, and dry and sunny journey home, even though there were obvious showers all around, just not on the M40/M25/M3.

Went to see some of my guitarist friends, and video one of the groups appearing. They did a 'boy band' version of Miss you Nights:)) Amongst other things - they do get paid as a Shadows tribute band. Not sure about the singing though, just upoading the video to computer now, I'm sure it sounded better live - where have I heard that before:))

It's just typical isn't it!! We were supposed to be going out tonight but about an hour ago it was snowing heavily, as it has been doing on and off for most of the day, and it was settling on the roads, so we cancelled. Now, the snow has stopped and the roads are clear! Grrrr!! So, instead, I'm going to settle down with a bottle of wine and watch IDA results, so that's a bonus! Although, I do wish they wouldn'r put the results show on a Sunday night, because I've forgotten what I thought of them all by now!!

A gaze or two on GO will make my day immensurably better!

Well have just put in my two pennorth on the IDA blog, and agree that is a travesty. Tara should have been in the sing off. Keisha really upped her game, and I like Cleo v. much but agree she hasn't shone as I hoped she would.
My biggest moan is how little we get to see of the acting. I did think this last year, ok so then it was also because I felt the GO would blow them away, but really how are we supposed to know who is a good actor , or not as the case may be, when we only see snippets of the chosen ones!

Just been watching "Tiger - Spy in the Jungle". How is it possible that tigers can be so cute!! It always amazes and amuses me how like domestic cats they are! Just off to give mine a cuddle (cat that is, not tiger!!).

Oo Ali - was your dream that you were having lessons from the GO (driving lessons ladies, calm down, we were talking about driving lessons!). On seconds thoughts that probably wouldn't be a good idea, you'd never concentrate on the road and would definitely have ended up in those nettles again!

Maybe that's another sideline for the BHB - driving lessons - I might just take them up again, although I fear I am such a bad driver I'd need a lot of lessons!!!

Fi, we are also members of both clubs, we tend to use CC for the UK, and CCC for France on the whole. We've caravaned for twenty odd years, (some of them very odd!) A couple of my favourite sites are York Rowntree Park, and St Agnes Beacon in my beloved Cornwall.
Three years ago we swapped the 'van for an American RV, which is very home from home, but really far too big for this country, so we are trying to sell it, and go back to a caravan.

Jo4, my old boy dog always used to hump the cushions on the settee, after he'd had his dinner, never bothered any other time. I had a girl years ago who would hump anything, and had a particular affection for my afgan coat!!

Hairspray was brilliant, ok not Joseph, but pretty damn good. Michael Ball was ace, and Ben amazing, his dancing was so energetic he split his trousers!! Leanne was special, and pretty much the whole cast was excellent. As far as I could see the whole of the audience were on their feet at the end. If you want to see another feel-good show then this is it.

You're right, Jane. This time last year I was slobbering over the TV every time the GO came on the screen. Guess things haven't changed too much, then! But none of the girls are 'break out' performers. Of course, for some people, the GO didn't break out till PiB.

Hello, hello! I'm home - started to read through everything but think I will take a leaf out of Auds' book and run it all off tomorrow to read through. Yes! No problems at all - checked in one line, arrived in plenty of time - took off about 15 mins late - arrived safely in Rome, and so did luggage! Rome wonderful as ever - weather fantastic - sat out in the sunshine in the Piazza Navona yesterday (got through four bottles of Frascati between the four of us!) - friends loved Rome too. Bit of a shock when we flew home and saw all the snow! Karen glad to see from the quick skim that you were taking your Deputy Chief Lush duties seriously.

Oh dear, just heard that Charlton Heston died. Always liked him. Still - he was 84 and had been suffering from Alzheimers for six years, apparently, so I guess not unexpected. Still sad though!

As to Charlton Heston: He was one of the brilliant minds responsible for holding a pro-gun rally in Columbine a week after the school shootings, causing additional pain to bereaved families. He was president of the National Rifle Association, and the word RABID comes to mind. I saw him interviewed about his love-affair with weapons in America a few times & I absolutely loathed him (check the web for some of the stuff he said about Rosie O'Donnell. Very scary). Sorry, Karen; I know European views tend to focus more on his acting & while I wasn't a fan, I can understand why a lot of people admired him for that, but I couldn't get beyond his weapon-obsession.
OK, on to cheerier things. It's porridge weather, BHB, and a big cup of Irish Coffee. Oh, feel free to wrap me up in a blanket. Ahh, lovely...

Geri,- I wholeheartedly agree with you about Charlton Heston. He was horrid in his weapon adoration and glorification. They showed a glimps of him on BBC last night holding a gun high and talking about "My cold, hard gun" at a NRA meeting.

Can't quite take to going our this morning with boots, warm trousers, thick coat, scarf and gloves - it's been short sleeve teeshirts, open toed sandals and jeans for me for the last few days! Honestly, clear blue skies, blazing sun (even have a white watchstrap mark!). Playing catch up with all the emails (for both bosses and me) for nearly forty minutes now, so had better get on and catch up later!

Can I just say that I knew nothing about the things to which you refer, I have obviously lived in a bubble where this is concerned. I think it was probably more a case of liking the films he was in rather than the man himself as I clearly knew nothing about him. I hope you will realise that my comment was not intended to cause offence but as it has clearly stirred up some strong feelings, if it inadvertantly did so then I apologise! In this case I really can plead ignorance!!

Nice to have you all back, Shirley, Auds, Carol and Diana.

I missed IDA and only caught the results show. Cleo was my favourite so I was disappointed to see her go. Of the little I saw it didn't seem justified. Tara does seem to be the Boohoo of the series. She remined me of Heather Mills looks wise with her hair straightened. Jonny is my fav Oliver.

A friend came down to see Saturday's matinee. I haven't seen her for years so met up for lunch and then I wandered over to the Adelphi with her and pointed out where to stand for the scrum! I then went shopping and met them afterwards. The scrum was just forming as I got there and my friend had a prime spot. I stood right back so that I was not even at the back of the scrum because I don't think it's right to be in it if you haven't seen the show. It was funny to see it from outside. Not half as loud or exciting and no adreniline from having just seen the show. I got a little peek of the GO even from my distant spot. Friend got an autograph and was very giddy afterwards. She's already plotting her next visit.

Shirley, welcome home lovely to 'see' you. Enjoyed your story about the loo, I have this thing about loos, it really makes me cross that men don't have to queue. I waited for all the interval at Hairspray on Saturday. Years ago my friend and me actually went into the gents at a Torvill and Dean show, we'd have missed some of the second half if we hadn't, and it amazed me how many ladies followed us in there!!
