Strictly Come Dancing, week 3: You Be The Judge

Strictly Come Dancing on TV Today

As the men take to the dance floor again, dancing either a tango or a jive, who will be the next couple out? After week 1, where Gary and Karen managed above allodds to avoid the dance-off, predicting the outcome will not be easy.

As usual, we’ve got a scoresheet for you:

Download this week’s Strictly Scoresheet — right-click the link and select “Save As…” or similar option, and then print out both pages.

You’ll notice a little change this week, with the addition of a summary of all the contestants’ scores so far, along with their average mark throughout the whole competition. as the weeks go on, we’ll see how this chart changes over time, and whether public perception of who gets put into the dance-off is a reflection of their overall performance…

Scott Dear - thank you - particularly like the table on the bottom with previous scores!

I'll say this only once: Thank you, Scott dear. The diagram is a very good idea. It's so much easier to get an overall view.
See you later!

Thankyou Scott, very good. As said love the diagram at the bottom.

Right, I'm ready for my Saturday night job. Bring them on!

All ready to go go go

Brilliant! AH & Erin - I'm giving it an 8! Very light on his feet, excellent flicks and in time with Erin - go Austin!

Mark and Hayley - lovely dress (do you think they took note during first week) - tried hard, but didn't convince me. Giving that a 5 possibly 6.

Gary & Karen - oh bless he tried so hard. I'm giving it 5. He suffers of course following AH - but really did try his best.

John & Kristina - no raw passion, but looked very nice. I'm in for a 6 here - loved her dress!

I am here but doing the comments in one go at the end. Just so you know.

Andrew & Olga - not bad. We're giving him a 6 possibly 7 for that. Suspect judges won't like though!

Tom & Camilla - v good but pipped by Austin - going to have to give this 7 as Austin was better! Not sure about Camilla's leg/footwear!

Don & Lilia - much better than cha cha last week - obviously trying really hard and of couse Lilia is always lovely. Going to give this 6.

Ladies group no. - now enjoyed that, it was really good - thought Jodie stuggled a bit but the rest were great!

Austin Healey & Erin Boag Jive
Wow, who would have thought a rugby player could do that. He was bouncy (now where have I said that before?) and on time. High, snappy kicks. I loved it. The only thing I saw was a glance of hesitation at one turn. 9

Mark Foster & Hayley Holt Tango
Not convinced by the acting. His arms were moving when they shouldn’t be. A couple of flashes of preying mantis look. Better than I thought he’d do with it. 6

Gary Rhodes & Karen Hardy Jive
(Oh, gosh I’m not looking forward to this). He has to sort his neck out, still sticking forward. My, my Karen does work hard. He got most of the steps, much better than I thought he’d be from the rehearsal tapes on ITT. He did some nice kicks. It was a simpler routine than Austin’s. He still looked a bit out of it a few times, just stood still waiting for Karen. 5

John Sergeant & Kristina Rihanoff Tango
He is a bit of a dark horse, good head movements. His feet didn’t look so good at times. 6

Andrew Castle & Ola Jordan Tango
Good expression, arms not too bad. Body below that terrible. B*m still sticking out. Chicken impression NO!. Legs and feet looked odd. Seemed to be in time. 4.

Tom Chambers & Camilla Dallerup Jive
Kicks not as crisp as Austin’s. Upper body not as together during the dance as Austin’s. It was very good. Nicely in time. 8

Don Warrington & Lilia Kopylova Tango
Very dramatic. Arms, head and shoulders good. Footwork looked fine. 7

Group dance, so much better than the last one. Looked really together.

Here are the vote from the Norwegian Jury:

1. Austin Healey & Erin Boag, Jive : 8
It is a very simple routine, but he is so light on his feet, and has rythm in spades!

2. Mark Foster & Hayley Holt, Tango : 3
I'm sure he is a lovely lad, but he can't dance!

3. Gary Rhodes & Karen Hardy, Jive : 5
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but he was out of step several times, and seemed very awkward. The hands, the hands! Lift your head!

4. John Sergeant & Kristina Rihanoff, Tango : 7
He makes it seem so effortless! He obviously loves it, has very good rythm and was really good.

5. Andrew Castle & Ola Jordan, Tango : 5
Loved the opening. He had rythm and got into caracter.

6. Tom Chambers & Camilla Dallerup, Jive : 9
Bl***y h**l, he is good! He's got everything, rythm, lightness of feet, sexy, OMG ! ! !

7. Don Warrington & Lilia Kopylova, Tango : 7
What's with the mouth, Don? You don't have to pucker up! It was good acting and good dancing, but at the end it came a bit apart.

The group dance was fun,- some very good dancing was done. Jodi was all arms and legs, not surprisingly. Cherie is fantastic. Jessie was like a bottle of champagne!

Right, my voting is as follows

Austin& Erin: Only his second dance? Amazing! 9

Mark & Hayley; So much better than last time,
still not that good! 6

Gary & Karen: still oh dear from me,but he
does try hard. 5

John&Christina: So cute! 6

Andrew& Ola: thought he was quite good
but lacks something 6

Tom & Camilla: Another strong contender
Excellent 9

Don & Lillia: a revelation! Lillia is one
clever cookie 8

Ladies group dance was great, they really did very well. Don't agree with Arlene though, still think Jessie was a bit pedesatrian, and Jodie was a bit all over the placebut she is so tall!

Thanks Scott dear - that's quite interesting reading!

oooh Scott statistics, how lovely. (There must be a graph in there somewhere.) I totally agree that Cherie and Austin have been the best so far.

ooops sorry to be so late but here are my comments

1. Austin Healey & Erin Boag, Jive : 8
Very light on his feet, lovely kicks but out of time with Erin on just a couple of moves, great showing off to the judges

2. Mark Foster & Hayley Holt, Tango : 4
Oh dear - he had the look , serious face but not a hint of rhythm

3. Gary Rhodes & Karen Hardy, Jive : 5
I hope they get to stay another week as Gary plainly loves the show and really wants to try ballroom - deserves to stay just for the effort he is obviously making.

4. John Sergeant & Kristina Rihanoff, Tango : 5
This was a nice dance but definitely not a tango - he has only done ballroom so far will really struggle with latin I think.

5. Andrew Castle & Ola Jordan, Tango : 5
What was the head butting thing about? Not bad but he was sort of crouched over her not a nice shape at all.

6. Tom Chambers & Camilla Dallerup, Jive : 9
My tip for the final since they announced this year's contestants and he is not letting me down. Definite chemistry with Camilla as well - needs to get his chest out next!

7. Don Warrington & Lilia Kopylova, Tango : 7
The actor was doing his thing tonight - great choreography showed him off, loved the ending.

Girls group dance - great fun and all did very well, congrats to the backstage choreographer.

Maybe Mark will go - he seems to have less charisma than the others even though he looks fantastic. He also lacks rhythm - shame - I was looking forward to the speedos.

Scott dear,- thanks for the new stats. I can see Jo4 is itching to start a new spreadsheet!

Another day, another dance. Ready for the result show. I think Mark or Gary will go. Mark is gorgeous to look at, but as my Mum always said, looks isn't everything!
Gary wants to, but can't quite work out how!

Right here we go!!! Loved the rhumba and Vincent and Flavia (are they back together???).

Loved the pro dances, all of them. Mark and Gary for the dance off which I think is fair enough. So Gary to go?

...oh lots of treats tonight - Erin and Anton fantastic too. Well thought Mark would be in the dance off, but thought the public would save Gary. Well I think that was the right decision as Gary seemed to go to pieces. Shame he never got to do a ballroom though!

Flavia and Vincent are almost etheral when they dance like that. I remember something similar they did last year too. It left me stunned!

Jodie was better this second time around in the group dance.

Andrea Botchelli...Aaaaahhhhhhh,- he can sing for me any day!

Gary, stay with the cooker. It was baaaad. Not that Mark was much better, but he'll probably go out next time.

Carol,- I don't think Flavia and Vincent are back together privately. Brucie underscored "the professional partner" bit.

Now that was justice! Gary has been the worst of the men for me and his dance off was a disaster. Think he thought he'd lost before it started.

...agree Pauline - think Gary gave up before he danced for the second time........Karen didn't seem too happy! Suspect you are right and Maek will go in the next men's competition (or are they merging ladies and men week afer next?).
