Strictly Come Dancing, week 11: You be the judge

There comes a point in every series of Strictly Come Dancing where you realise you’re about to enter the home straight, and that’s when the couples have to start dancing twice a week.

We’re at that point now, so more than ever it’s the couples who can cope best in both Ballroom and Latin disciplines who will fare best out of the judges’ marks. The couple with the biggest disparity of marks across disciplines is currently Lisa and Brendan. Christine and Matthew are more consistent, but their average scores are so much lower than the other four couples’ that their continued presence in the competition must be in peril.

After their perfect 40 last week, Rachel and Vincent leap to the top of the judges’ series scoreboard. Together with their consistent scoring in both Ballroom and Latin, they’re surely serious contenders now.

The layout’s changed slightly because of the change in number of dances, but the scoresheet is here:

As ever, come back during or after the show to discuss your opinions and share your scores; the TV Today review will be available on Monday.

Thank you Scott Dear - I'll be sitting with pen poised tomorrow and all fingers and toes crossed for Tom to get a 10!!!!

Thankyou Scott, will report for duty tomorrow.

Sorry getting ready for a party, so no time to do proper review. I saw all dances except the first (a girl has to have a bath before a party).
My fav Liza, to go Christine. Special mention for Christine's black dress, I want it.

The Norwegian Jury is ready and willing as always:

1. Rachel & Vincent, waltz : 10
Absolutely gorgeous!

2. Lisa & Brendan, foxtrot : 9
What a dress! Graceful and elegant. I find the foxtrot difficult to judge. It looks simple, but isn't.

3. Christine & Matthew, tango : 7
At least she didn't smile. Head movements not sharp enough. Not enough agression. A bit of a damp squid!

4. Austin & Erin, foxtrot : 9
I liked this better than Lisa's foxtrot. It had more razamataz!

5. Tom & Camilla, waltz : 10
That was oooooooh, so beautiful! They moved in a cloud of blue. And I love his butt!

6. Rachel & Vincent, paso double : 8
It's the best female paso we've seen.

7. Lisa & Brendan, cha cha cha : 8
I hate the music! The dress disguised the hip movements. I'm not too keen on it.

8. Christine & Matthew, salsa : 6
Sorry Christine, but salsa is supposed to be sexy. No, no, no.

9. Austin & Erin, paso double : 10
At last some proper paso double music. He did his Ole's! and Ha's! brilliantly. I loved it.

10. Tom & Camilla, samba : 9
A wonderful carnival feel. It started a bit subdued, but built up wonderfully.

Again the judges wouldn't give Tom his deserved 10 for his waltz. How Craig could give him 7 (!) is beyond me.

I have rated Tom and Austin equally high this week, but with the top score in different category.

The bottom spot for me AGAIN, is Christine. I think by now it's so glaringly clear how much higher standard the others have.

In the dance off: Christine and I think maybe Lisa. I wasn't too taken with her cha cha cha.

Rachel/ Vincent, waltz: Just beautiful, lovely dress and very sweet. She still doesn't blow me away but she is very, very good 9

Lisa/ Brendan, foxtrot: Just loved that, she had the certain something, that for me Rachel lacked! 10

Christine/ Matthew, tango: she was far too flobby and loose, ooh Craig has just agreed, that's a first! 7

Austin/ Erin, foxtrot: His ballroom is very good, I thought he was excellent 9

Tom/ Camilla, waltz: I loved that, so beautiful. Best so far for me. It was gorgeous and romantic! 10

.........................

Rachel/ Vincent, paso: No agression ok but really didn't catch fire at all, she is good though. 8

Lisa/ Brendan, cha cha: She was good but somehow seemed a bit tame to me, though do agree the best cha cha so far. 8

Christine/ Matthew, salsa: Well much more her thing, but I feel her legs are a bit weak somehow. Maybe that is what the judges are saying better than me! 8

Austin/ Erin, Paso: That is by far the best Latin he's done great performance and you cannot blame him for the choreography 9

Tom/ Camilla Samba: Loved it again! He brings such energy and joy to his dance, love him! 9

Well if there is any justice Christine will go as she is by far the weakest. However this series anything could happen! worried for Tom who is my favourite I have to admit, and would hate to see him go, which could happen if he gets in a dance off with say Rachel!!

1. Rachel & Vincent, waltz : 9
lovely but there is just something missing for me
2. Lisa & Brendan, foxtrot : 9
I really enjoyed this dance
3. Christine & Matthew, tango : 7
too limp , even Matthew seemed a bit dull rather than sharp
4. Austin & Erin, foxtrot : 9
enjoyed this one but Austin sill forgets to smile
5. Tom & Camilla, waltz : 10
WOW - loved it especially the fast bits pivots?
6. Rachel & Vincent, paso double : 7
all the marks are for Vincent as Rachel did hardly any dancing
7. Lisa & Brendan, cha cha cha : 8
this was a bit boring but they were having a great time and that helped to sell it.
8. Christine & Matthew, salsa : 7
lots of tricks but not much in between
9. Austin & Erin, paso double : 8
what was all the shouting about? and where was the dancing
10. Tom & Camilla, samba : 9
brilliant wriggly hips from Tom

dance off - it should be Christine but too close to call who else - Christine to go home this week.

Loved the professionals quickstep, 20 out of 10.

Darren & Lilya: Wonderful latin mix. (Half her dress was falling off!)

I wasn't sure if the second prof. dance was a quickstep or American smooth, but then realised it is the most unortodox quickstep I've ever seen. Loved it.

Estelle......sounds like a lot of other singers in her genre. Not exactly my taste.

Thank heavens,- my three votes for Tom paid off! ! ! ! ! ! !

Dance off with Rachel and Christine! If yesterday was anything to go by, Christine should be off, and I really think she will be.

Rachel & Vincent doing their waltz again. Not as spinetingling as last time, but utterly beautiful.

Christine and Matthew doing the cha cha cha. It just isn't good enough. She's flat footed, if you can be in those heels!

YES ! For once I was right. Rachel is staying. It was the right decision.

Right result. It's going to be difficult next week. The rest are all very good. I expect it will depend on the dances they have to do.

Not so Eva it was my ten votes for Tom that did it! So pleased Tom stayed. Right result this week as Christine was the weakest. Next week will be very tough though.

Loved the pro quickstep.
