Strictly Come Dancing, week 9: You be the judge

Strictly Come Dancing Header

Well, John Sergeant’s still here. How did that happen? On the bright side there are seven other couples that are all trying hard, and hopefully this will be the week that the voting public appreciates that good dances are far more entertaining than rubbish ones.

My attempt last week to order the scoresheet in accordance with the BBC’s running order proved, er, a little ineffectual, so I’ve gone back to arranging the couples in alphabetical order to be on the safe side. However, just in case, here’s the ordering as suggested by the official website:

  • John & Kristina — American Smooth
  • Tom & Camilla — Salsa
  • Christine & Matthew — Waltz
  • Lisa & Brendan — Samba
  • Austin & Erin — Tango
  • Cherie & James — Cha-cha-cha
  • Jodie & Ian — Quickstep
  • Rachel & Vincent — Rumba

To get ready for tomorrow’s show, download this week’s score sheet. See you back here for your scores, and our review will be online on Monday as usual.

Hi Scott dear,- thank you for this week's score sheet.
I have a feeling that I might be rather lonely on here tonight, as some of the others are off to watch Carol and Rick singing their heart out in this year's offeering in the amateur theatre world.

Hi Scott Dear, although I will be out this evening at said entertainment, hope to record the show and providing all goes well will catch up tomorrow!Keep the home fires burnung Eva.

Right,- The Norwegian Jury is ready and willing.

Jodie & Ian, quickstep : 9
She looks wonderful. Love the dress. Was she out of step a couple of times? Hard to say with all the swaying skirts. It was fast, fun and very elegant.

Lisa & Brendan, samba : 7
Arms all over the place at times. There was no fire in her. Technically well done.

Christine & Matthew, waltz : 8
She looks like a Disney Princess. That was beautiful.

Cherie & James, cha cha cha : 9
You showed 'em, Cherie! You can do Latin! Great! Loved the beginning.

Austin & Erin, tango : 7
Strange forward steps. Then flatfooted. Sorry,- I didn't like it. I seem to be disagreeing with all the judges.

Rachel & Vincent, rumba : 10
It's the first time she's really convinced me. It was gripping!

John & Kristina, American Smooth : 5
That was one of his best efforts. But still the worst of the night so far.

Tom & Camilla, salsa : 10
HIP HIP HIP HURRAAYYYYYYYYYYYY

It's getting harding to see who should be in the dance off with John (That's supposing he is in the dance off!), but for me it will have to be Christine or Lisa.

For me Tom and Rachel were in a class of their own tonight. I will probably be in a minority, but Austin's tango left me cold.

Loved Tom again and Rachael did do well after her shock last week.
I would like John to stay in, to annoy the judges, they are wrong, it's not a dance competition it's a television programme. There are dance competitions. amateur and profesional, national, international etc.. this is not one.
However I don't want anyone else to go in his place so it's a bit of a dilemma.

Don't know what happened to the post I thought I'd sent.

Loved Tom and hope he wins, Rachael did well after her shock last week.

I hope John stays, to annoy the judges because they are wrong, this is not a dance competition, it's a television programme. There are plenty of dance competitions, (never televised) amateur and professional, national and international etc., but this is not one.
The problem is of course that if John stays someone else will go and they're all quite good now and have worked hard, so it's a bit of a dilemma. The producers of the programme have an agenda, why do they invite 60+ year olds on to the show?

Oh there it is , strange.

Jodie & Ian, quickstep : 7
The dress seemed to be hiding her feet not sure if she was in time or not but a lovely routine.

Lisa & Brendan, samba : 7
Not enough bounce for me but very good.

Christine & Matthew, waltz : 8
The slower dance suits her - arms and feet working well.

Cherie & James, cha cha cha : 8
Wow - Cheri shows everyone what lovely legs can do! a bit slow for a cha cha but who cares!

Austin & Erin, tango : 8
I seem stuck on 8 this week - technically good but Austin had his face locked in a weird glare and I think I saw a couple of small mistakes in the timing.

Rachel & Vincent, rumba : 9
Bruce was funny prizing them apart at the end but that was HOT!

John & Kristina, American Smooth : 4
Sorry but I just don't see the reason for voting for John - Christina gets all the points for keeping everyone's eyes off him!.

Tom & Camilla, salsa : 10
WOW! that was such and Tom had his chest out - too much excitement.

John really should go tonight - might be Jodie in the dance off again but who knows??

omg omg cherie leaves 2nite after loseing in the dance off to lisa and brendon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who votes for john, it must be the whole bloomin world !!!!!

Well came on here to give my belated opinion and thanks for nothing Dan. I rather like seeing the results at the show time!

For the record I loved Tom, Austin, Rachel. Jodie was also very good and Christine did a lovely waltz. Hardly worth saying now though is it!

Dan can you please not post the result before the show goes on air on Sunday, you are spoiling the enjoyment for many fans.It was very stupid of you to post that result.

Wow, well that's spoiled tonight's result for me. I only found this page by accident too.

Is there any way Dan's "revelation" can be deleted so as not to ruin it for anyone else? Or maybe a warning at the top of the comments to not post results before they're aired?

I haven't read the previous posts yet, I've heard what they contain.
I apologise for just a few notes and scores this week, I’ve been busy. (Thanks to YT for the vids, BBC wouldn’t load.)
Jodie very good 8
Lisa a bit stiff at times 8
Christine some non flowing head movements 8
Austin Grrrrr very good 9
Tom wow, wow, wow (Ramps still wins though) 10
Cherie very good, a few uncomfortable moments 8
John Much better than I thought he’d do, he’ll get votes for that 6
Rachel my, my 9

Loved the routine with Bruce and Anton. I know some people don't like Bruce, I just thought it was funny.

Lisa was better in the dance off.

Back again, and scrolled swiftly past the post trying to spoil all the fun, so I still don't know who was sent home. Feeling like sticking my tongue out at the spoilsport, but I'm too much of a lady!

Here we go.

I enjoyed the professional's cha cha. Sometimes I wonder if their joints are made of rubber!

Brucie can still dance a step or two!

Good heavens,- Tom Jones's face looks like an shrunk prune! And I don't like his new single either. I have to stop moaning!
The dancing was beautiful

John is going trhough again!

Tom and Jodie are through. My votes counted then. I'm glad.

OMG,- I can't believe it! Cherie in the dance off, but if we look at yesterday's dancing, the judges will save Cherie.

Lisa was better yesterday. She seems to be dragging herself along. Her footwork was very heavy, and then a mishap at the end.

I'm glad they're both doing latin, because it shows how much better Cherie is.

I obviously can't see what's in front of me, but I am astounded!

Well as I knew what was going to happen, thanks again Dan, I'm not as astounded. Had time to assimulate I daresay. Cherie was one of my favourites, thought she was lovely.

I just hope all those voting for John are proud of themselves. I can't agree Maeve, I'm sorry I know you have the right to vote for who you like, but I have loved this show since day one, this time I feel this internet campaign being run to keep John in just to annoy the judges is sad. It might as well have a lot of comedians come on and try to be as funny as they can to entertain us, but that is a different sort of show, surely? This must be about the dancing to keep it's high standard and its' integrity.

Quite agree Pauline, did anyone notice at the end when all the acouples come on to hug the losers John and Kristina were missing

It would be the one weekend where I didn't have internet access that this happened... *sigh*

Apologies to everyone whose results show was spoiled by the actions of one (for the want of a better word) idiot.

While one can understand that anybody who found out the result on Saturday would have been shocked -- and so may have wanted to discuss the result -- doing so on a public forum is majorly uncool.
