The IT Crowd Channel 4, Friday 10pm
Douglas is reunited with his wife, who previously went missing in a mysterious car-washing incident — and promptly decides he wants to divorce her. Unfortunately, he finds there’s more to breaking up with someone than just changing his Facebook relationship status to “it’s complicated”… The final episode of what has been the strongest series yet of Graham Linehan’s consistently hilarious sitcom.
BBC Proms: Stephen Sondheim BBC2, Saturday 9pm
After last year’s MGM Prom, the BBC are expanding the role of musicals in the Proms season. There’ll be a celebration of Rodgers and Hammerstein later, but this weekend sees a whole concert dedicated to the genius stylings of Stephen Sondheim in yet another event celebrating his 80th birthday year. Bryn Terfel, Maria Friedman, Simon Russell Beale, Jenna Russell, Daniel Evans, Julian Ovendon and Dame Judi Dench will all contribute vocal performances.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame Five, Sunday 5.20pm
One of Alan Menken’s more underrated musicals for Disney, with Tom Hulce, Demi Moore and Kevin Kline on voice duties. Hellfire, sung by Minister of Justice of Frollo, is one of my favourite of all Menken’s compositions.
Sherlock BBC1, Sunday 8.30pm
Last week’s opener was a critical and audience success, so the bar has been set pretty high for the next episode. Hopefully, now that the setup of Holmes and Watson sharing 221b and collaborating on detection work has been established, the actual crime plot will be a little more to the fore than last week’s.
We're first! That's me and my guest who's sitting on the sofa telling me to say we're first.
Scott dear,- thank you for our new home. The old one was getting a bit cluttered.
Back later.
and I'm not far behind.... thanks Scott Dear.
Evening all
Thank you for the new home Scott.
LJ still not letting me sign in!!
I've had a busy day, doing all the things I would usually do over the weekend, but can't because I'm somewhere else this weekend, can't remember where but I'm sure it's somewhere important, doing something important with someone important!!
I'm having a bit of a dilemma about what to put on my feet! The blister I got on my toe in Skeggie has not healed and I can't wear shoes, so it's going to have to be sandals - just hope the weather stays dry!!
What with Jane's ankle and my blister, we'll be a right pair!!
KK,- if you ask nicely, I'm sure Jo will lend you her sexy sandals!
Thank you thank you Scott dear. It was a pleasure to sign in so speedy was it. Bless you.
I bet you and your guest are having a good time Eva, are you teaching her the language?
KK where are you going this weekend, you forgot to mention. Anywhere important?
Thanks for the new home, Scott. Hope you and everyone else have a good weekend.
Karen, I checked the BBC online forecast earlier - sunny intervals both days with light rain early tomorrow for central London. However, for home which is less than 15 miles south, light rain both days! I hope the latter is wrong.
Heading home shortly at last.
Whooo hoooo - I've got my pencil back AND a new home! Thank you Scot Dear!!
Just off out to take Sloppy to see local tap dancing team (all grown ups) - MM off to a Stag Night for the Victorian wedding next week!! Have a good evening and safe journeys everyone.
Hi all.
Thanks for the lovely new home Scott.
Lots of ooohhhmmsss for everyone in need. Plenty for the bank too.
Enjoy the weekend Pauline, KK, Geri, Iane and Ploppy.
Jane, sorry to hear about Ploppy, but glad he is keeping positive. Hope your ankle soon feels better.
KK, have a good journey and hope your blister soon heals.
Jo, don't listen to the kaughter. You would be a great childminder. You have experience with house training, You could take them for walks using reins, like leads and Shannon could act as a sheep dog, rounding them all up!
Auds, sorry you didn't quite get to US. Still it was a day out of the office.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Scott, thank you for the lovely new home. Much more speedy.
Eva, you are abroad to me. I've just checked the webcam, it is all clear up there now.
I'm glad I cheered you all up with my thoughts of another career.
KK I'm sure you will manage your trip, afterall you have the thought of the GO at the end of it.
Technical note from Skegness. He started off with ear pieces in. Like Cliffy uses for his concerts. It helps them hear the music more clearly. I thought that perhaps he was using them, as it was the difficulty in hearing the music which was putting him off getting the words in the right order. I did think, shame he won't be able to hear the audience. Anyway after CED he only had one in. When he came back on, after NP, he wasn't wearing them. So not a success then.
Puter and connection working ok tonight, touching wood as I type. It really is the most horrible night here, rain is hammering down, and it’s all dark and stormy, like a horror movie set.
Jane, you’ve just made me smile, tell your Ploppy that if ohhhmmss work, and we have some evidence that they do, he’ll be ok. We’ll cross fingers too, just to be sure.
Ali, you need to try for tickets 10 to 12 weeks in advance. If you want to know which train companies have released tickets try thetrainline.com, click on ‘gadgets and tools’, then click on ‘sign up’ for ticket alerts, you don’t need to sign up, the train companies are listed on the right hand side. The trainline do charge £1 booking fee, but there are sites that don’t.
Scott, thanks for the new home, AND no rent increase. What a lovely landlord you are.
Karen, (et al) I’ll be thinking of you on Saturday, and wishing I was there. At least Grimsby is only 3 weeks away, although how I'm going to bear it until November I really don't know, not sure even Wkd in October will help. We've been SO spoiled with these concerts.
Jo, if I remember correctly he said that he couldn’t hear the audience, and next time I looked one was gone, and then the other. He obviously wanted to hear our squeals!
The rain has stopped at last. Nite nite Loppies x
Sue, I can never trust my ears, when I'm watching!!
not bad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0eg2DW4xLU
Hmm, I had to borrow Jo's glasses last weekend and now her sexy sandals this weekend, what next weekend!!
Thanks for the weather report Diana. Sounds promising.
I was intending to have an earlier night than this as I have to be up at 4.30am (eek!) but Ploppy came home from an evening out with some long lost relatives of his who are over from America and they were telling him, and he's just been telling me, all about his ancestors - it was fascinating!!
Anyway, Ploppy is going to drop me off at the station at 6am, bless him! So, I won't be here before I go but hopefully I'll be able to pop in when I'm on the coach - I'll need something to occupy me for four and a half hours (eek again!), well, that's in between watching GO vids on my ipod!
See you tomorrow Geri, Jane and GO!! (Also hoping to meet up with Jenny as it turns out she's flying over on the same flight as Geri - great coincidence!).
Have a good weekend everybody!
Have a lovely time KK. Crutches? Special shoe- left foot only? Support socks? Oh dear, from the list seems my body is breaking up.
Have a good weekend all including those doing 'specia'l things
Nightlee night
Morning all, just reporting in that Twin arrived safely yesterday, but sadly is being forced to go shopping today. Raining here (as it is there). Tap show was good last night but long - three hours. Still Sloppy enjoyed it! Bon Voyage to today's travellers and have a lovely time. Hope everyone has a good weekend - especially K2 and Auntie Eva (K2 hope you have recovered and imbibed by now!. Hello BHB you have the jugs of Long Island Tea ready? Oh, you can't stay late as you have special people to see later? Right we'd better start the staff meeting. You bring the drink and I'll bring the paninis. Sadly we won't have the DCM as she is off gallavanting - au revoir!
Morning all
I'm on the coach and I'm on my way. WooHoo!!
Would it surprise you to know that I've already had a mishap!!? I burnt my lip on a cup of coffee whilst I was in the station waiting for the coach and it's stinging like mad now!! I'll probably arrive in London to meet Geri looking as though I've just had b*t*x! Honestly, I'm not fit to let out on my own!!!
Morning. Not raining here but overcast and very grey.
Ali, are you checking single tickets? It's usually cheaper to get two singles than a return. This site also lets you know when the cheapie tickets are available - see bottom left for date (currently 8 Oct so if you're travelling 9 Oct or later, the cheapest haven't been released)
http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com/
One side of my nose has been feeling sort of bruised for the last week or so. I haven't bashed it as far as I'm aware and it looks OK; haven't the faintest idea why it's hurting, most peculiar.
Thanks for the reminder about the ear plugs, Jo. I'd forgotten those.
Spoke too soon, it's drizzling here.
Hope you're having a smooth journey, KK, other than the burnt lip that is.
Richard needs to have his ears cleaned - see Comments http://blogs.thestage.co.uk/shenton/2010/07/a-few-thoughts/
Morning all. It's sunny (sort of) at the moment, but I don't think it's going to last. Mild though, + 16.3 degrees. We're not going to do the funicular today, because I've got other plans, but we might get back to that particular touristy activity on Monday.
We had a different day yesterday than was planned, due to the rain pibbing down. We did walk a bit round, visited the fishmarket, K2 got herself some souvenirs. Then we drove out to youngest sisters house, but they were out. We then did a tour of "Eva growing up. Her early life in 15 minutes!" We drove round in the area where I grew up, paid a courtesy visit up the hill where our house was, drove past my schools etc. Will you believe that when I went to college, we walked about 45 minutes each way? School bus? Parents driving? You must be joking!
We had a quiet afternoon here. I had an Eva and we watched some TV. Then I had to go to the airport to pick up middle sister and the Internet Killer returning from Jersey at 11pm. I came home again 2 hours later and was fuming. The pair was dawdling for 20 minutes in the tax-free shop (Yes, you can do that here,- buy your tax-free stuff when you land in Bergen:) but you don't do it when the flight is already late and you know that someone is waiting for you, do you? Sufficient to say, I let them know I wasn't pleased.
Today K2 and I are doing some shopping. We're having guests for Sunday lunch and need to buy a leg of lamb and other essentials. After that we'll be paying my parents a visit. (My father is waiting for his Irish whisky!) and then do the guided tour (I'm the guide) around the island.
KK,- is there a part of your body that isn't hurting at the moment? Have a brilliant time in London.
OK,- it's time to go. See you later.
Good Morning All, Eva has kindly filled me in on the blog news which she caught up on while I was making myself presentable. We're off now for some retail therapy (she thinks we're just getting groceries, but I have other plans for her!!) and then we'll pop in to visit her Mum and Dad.
I've been having such a lovely time here, after a few great but hectic days of travel and sightseeing, it's so relaxing and Eva is being a wonderful chauffeur and tour guide. I'll go home rested and refreshed. (And yes Carol, tonight's wine is already chilling)
London-bound Loppies, have a wonderfultime, hope everyone else is ok and oohhmmms where needed. Ttyl.
No idea where I am but it's pibbing down!! Rain + Sandals = Soggy Feet!! Oh well, two hours to go so time for it to change!!
I must have been really tired, just woken up. It has rained here all is damp, but sun out now. So maybe sandals will be fine KK, unless the showers are very local.
Diana, Richard, pah!
Sounds like B*rg*n is a hive of activity.
P2 shopping, now there's a surprise.
Weather update from your roving reporter somewhere on the motorway - blue skies & sunshine. Yaayyy! Still no idea where I am but as we've now run into a load of traffic I guess we must be getting near!
Text from Geri - she's arrived in V*ctoria and is waiting for me. Goody.
Thank you for your company on the way down - between talking to you, watching GO vids, reading my book and trying to convince the guy sat next to me that I'm not M*ck J*gger, thanks to my swollen lip, the journey has flown, although looking at this traffic I suspect this last part may drag!
Bye for now........!
Just a quick pop in. Thanks for the new home Scott.
Thanks for the tips re: train tix. Last night the cheapest was £10 there and £14 back but I'll give it another few days and check again.
Can't stop as got to get middle scollop off to Scout camp, he's packed and ready but I'm not! I've just got to ice some buns for him to take.
Hope you've arrived safely KK, have a great time at Wckd, also Jane and Geri; Pauline, Eva, K2 and everyone else have a lovely weekend.
I'm off to dollop for a couple of nights, see you on Monday.
Hmmm still without pencil alas! KK if you are hitting traffic then I suspect you are indeed getting close! Hope you have a lovely time. We currently have sunshine so I think sandals will be fine!! Not sure about the lip.... Had a bit of scare this morning - did the shopping, went and had our usual brunch and PGB at our wine bar, then were heading back to the car park for the Sainsbugs visit when I said I would pop into SHB sale to see if I could get a couple of tops for the holiday. Just as well cos when I got to the paydesk I didn't have my purse. They kindly kept my purchases to one side and I rushed out to see if I had put the purse in one of the shopping bags - alas not! Ran (well trotted) back to the wine bar and as I walked in Pat, the Manager, saw me - went out the back and returned with my purse! Phew!! Now the thing is, if I hadn't gone into BHS I wouldn't have realised I had no purse until probably Monday. MM always pays in Sainsbugs, we aren't going out later, we aren't at church tomorrow morning ....so it would probably have been Monday morning before I twigged! Anyway purchases reclaimed and paid for so all is well. Diana - Richard's girl friend is probably in love with GO - hence the comments!! Right sadly it is to be a weekend of wxshxng and ixxnxxg so adieu!
Evening all, although there’ll probably be very few here to read this, I’ll post anyway.
We have had a lovely day so far. We went shopping as planned. I bought some delicacies to bring home and some gorgeous baby clothes for little Charlie, who apparently is trying to break all laundry records as he’s developed a reflux issue, so I imagine little sis will be glad of a few more changes for him (please note Jo, if you’re still considering child-minding!) I’ll let Eva describe the lovely outfit she found.
We then popped in to see Eva’s Mum & Dad, what a lovely couple! We had a good chat with them and her Mum served us coffee and cake.
Next stop was the museum at Telavag, a little village which suffered a terrible tragedy in WW2, such a lovely, picturesque place. We were advised by the girl in the museum of a local café down at the harbour nearby and we arrived there at a great time as a celebration and fishing competition was happening at the harbour. I had delicious fish soup and Eva had “meat cakes”. My Norwegian is progressing slowly but I’m getting there, I can read and understand lots of words but my pronunciation leaves a lot to be desired!!
So, Eva is having an Eva and I’m about to curl up on the sofa with my book. Laters (as PB would say)
K2 back again - That's funny, I commented anonymously as K2 and did the captcha as well, but it came up as Eva, anyway it wasn't Eva it was me, sorry.
Didn't see you there Carol, very glad you found your purse.
Hi Everyone - did anyone manage to get any photos of the GO on the stage at Skegness last weekend? I know there are lots of great ones at the stage door and Brenda's lovely video but I cant find any of the performance. Was the security re photos very tight, I didn't notice it at the time but then I was otherwise occupied!!
Don't worry Karen, I knew it was you as I recognised the accent! LOL Poor little Charlie and his reflux problem, poor mum as well with all that washing. One of my lads had that problem when he was a baby, chocolate pudding was the worst. Anyway, as the doctor said it would, it had cleared by the time he was 11 months old.
Carol I know that awful feeling in the pit of the stomach when you suspect you have lost your purse. So glad you found it again. Years ago I left my purse on a bus and although I got it back again some b*****d had taken all the money. At the time I was bringing up two little boys on my own and had been to the bank to draw out the housekeeping money. Thanks to the kind person who took the cash we were not able to go on the short break I had been saving up for. Luckily the boys were very understanding, they were good kids.
Been a woman of the soil this afternoon and picked broad beans, dug two different varieties of potatoes (Maris Peer and Pink Fir Apple if anyone is interested, NOT) and tomorrow I hope there will be some carrots ready. Anyway, we now have enough veg to keep us going through the week.
Thinking of KK and hoping she and the others are having a fab time, of course they are. Please don't let her have any more mishaps or burnt lips.
Jan,- I'll take the potatoes and you can keep the carrots. Thank you!
The day turned out very well, as when we visited the parents, my father suggested I took K2 to the Nordsjømuseum which is all about the tragedy of Telavåg:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telav%C3%A5g
It is a harrowing story, and it makes an impression every time I'm there.
We then drove to the village of Glesvær:
http://www.holmakaien.no/
where we had our lunch. It was very lively on the key side as there was a fishing competition taking place. In one of the boats we could see a bucket full of the most gorgeous cod you could imagine. I really fancied becoming a fish thief there and then!
Jo,- I bought a lovely top in a light purple colour. It was long and flowing, and in the shop they'd put it on one of those model dolls. There they had used a white top underneath, with lacy collar and cuffs . They didn't have my size, but the shop assistant ordered it for me. It was really beautiful, and NO,- it was not in the sales, so no savings today.
We're having prawns served in the Norwegian way tonight and the white wine is cooling in the fridge. At last some incahol will be consumed!
Hang on, hang on Eva and Karen - wait for me. Prawns and white wine sound HEAVENLY.
Diana, there was a message for you on LMAS. It was for TK, so PKP contacted her via YT. As TK is still out I have dealt with it.
Shirley, I think they were hot on cameras at Skegness, even at the end. I did hear that the 'police' swooped as soon as they saw one. Have you tried a YT search?
Sounds like a good time is being had in Norway.
Hope they are having fun in London too.
I had a Eva this afternoon. Woke up and couldn't bend my left knee. I hadn't realised BG had been on my leg while I was asleep and had bent my knee the wrong way. Took 5 mins of massage before I could stand up.
Jan,- I'll trade you half a bottle of white wine for those potatoes. The prawns are gone, I'm afraid.
I'm off to my bed while K2 is watching Dr. Wh* on BBC Entertainment.
Oh how lovely, Jenny over here as well, nice surprise.
K2, good to hear from you, sounds like you’re having a lovely time with Auntie Eva.
Jo, you must’ve been tired, I’m amazed that Dog let you sleep so late.
KK, hope the GO’s not giving kisses away tonight! Ohhhmmmsss for your poorly lip.
Carol, lucky escape with your purse, I know the feeling well.
Jan, I’M interested in your home grown produce, we don’t but friends do, and there’s nothing like home grown stuff, AND you know what’s in it and on it!
Eva, not got time to check out the links tonight, but at m-o-l’s so will have plenty of it tomorrow.
We went to se Gordon and Heather today, and pleased to report both were fine. Heather had a little ‘Eva’ while we were there, as she’d had a bad night, (just couldn’t sleep) so all is well at the moment.
Wonder if the Wkd Loppies are at the stage door?
Nite nite Loppies x
Thanks Jo, I just saw the message.
Shirley, I only saw one camera inside the theatre and an usher ran past me VERY quickly to stop the person. It's possible some photos might have been taken but I haven't seen/heard of any.
Eva & K2, good to hear you've had a lovely day.
Hope Geri, Karen & Jane have had a wonderful day in London.
We've been to my inlaws this evening and pleased to say they are able to come to the wedding - their health hasn't been too good so it was very iffy. I've just booked their flights, very relieved there were still seats available. Lots of stuff to sort out now we know they are coming. Better get to bed as it'll be a busy day tomorrow. Sweet meads.
Good news Diana, love it when a plan comes together!! (Apparently the new film is rubbish.)
Nightlee night
I should be in bed but I've too much going on in my head to sleep. A friend/neighbour has fallen out with me because our two sons (my youngest) had a bit of a fallout the other night. She emailed me about it (which I thought was rather rude) and I told her I would have words with youngest but that in a couple of days I was sure it would all blow over and they'd be friends again, as usually happen between the two of them. Unfortunately, she has decided she no longer wishes to be friends as she has removed me and my sister and a couple of mutual friends from F***B***. Ploppy tells me not to take it so personally, but I do. I was very careful how I worded my reply to her so as not to apportion blame and scollop sent a handwritten note to his friend too. He is now upset and worried that they will not be allowed to be friends anymore. Sorry to unload but it's really playing on my mind. Any advice gratefully received please.
Morning.
I had too much going round in my head to sleep well too. I was sat up in bed doing table seating plans at 1.00 am!
Ali, I can't offer any advice re the boys but for the mother to remove your sister and mutual friends in addition to yourself from FB strikes as totally OTT and unreasonable behaviour. Maybe in a day or two she'll calm down - perhaps something else has upset her and she's taking it out on you and your's? Hope the two boys' friendship continues.
Morning all. It's raining here, and the temperature is +15.0. Change that, the sun is breaking through. It's one of those days with everything happening within minutes, rain, sunshine, rain again.
It won't be a day for the big outing today anyway. K2 is going to mass at 11am, and depending on the weather when we get to the church, I'll either sit quietly at the back of the church or go for a walk.
The lamb roast went in the oven at 7.15am, and a lovely aroma of garlic and rosemary is filling the flat. It will happily slow roast it's way to perfection ( I hope) while we're away. The guests,( my mother, youngest sister with husband and the beloved niece will be here at 3pm. My father finds it so difficult and painful to move nowadays, that he declined the lunch invitation, but urged my mother to go.
Btw. K2 got a demonstration of his "catapult" seat yesterday, and between you, me and the pooter I think she was a bit disappointed that he didn't do a dive through the room!)
Ali,- what a distressing situation for you. Why can't grown ups learn to let the children sort out their differences by themselves? They usually do, and when we're not talking about bullying, the parents shouldn't interfere at all.
Diana,- I can see the coming month bringing lots of stress to you if you're doing the seating arrangements at that time of the morning! Try to relax a bit ( said she who doesn't know what the word means!)
Hello sweetheart. What are you up to? Mixing the cocktails for this morning's meeting? No, than you, I won't part-take. I have to be sober for this church appearance, you know. It's not a place where you'll usually find me of a Sunday morning! I promise to be good and not start arguing with the priest!
Eva and church, hhhhmmmmm?
Ali, sorry I can't really help either, apart from just carry on. Say Hi if you see them outside, but don't stop to talk, or be talked to.
Seating plans, I heard from a woman at work that they gave up. They reserved one table for bride/groom and parents and let everyone else sort themselves out to where they wanted to sit.
Right must go
Oh dear Ali, I agree with Eva that it is such a shame when parents get involved in offsprings' little quarrels. That mother should know better and just kept quiet. I do understand how you feel. I always found that the kids sorted themselves out in the end and it was the adults that carried on being at odds with each other. I should now just ignore the whole thing - what will be will be.
A really grey day here but at last we have had some really useful rain which gave the earth a good old soak. Luckily we had lots of sunshine for the carnival and regatta - large men sweated it out in the tug-of-war, pulling the lorries (although there were some fun "pullers" in fancy dress), the little rowing boats and racing yachts had a good breeze, the Teddy Bears' Picnic on the green for the little ones was a great success, the fireworks were magnificent and it all ended with the Carnival Ball yesterday evening. All over now until next year.
I wonder how KK feels this morning!
Hi all
Here I am again, on the motorway, heading back oop North after a wonderful day yesterday. Will do a full report later when I get home as this coach is too jerky and this keyboard too titchy, it makes typing very difficult.
It was great to spend the day with Geri, to meet up with Jenny for lunch and then drinks after the show with Jane, Ploppy and their friends. And a double helping of the GO. Bliss. He just get better and better every time I see him. Two brilliant performances, eye contact when we stood at the end, no SD, we were told that he had already left but it didn't matter we were already in Meady Heaven by then!
I LOVE HIM!!!!!!
Afternoon All (K2 here)
Glad, but not in the least surprised, to hear the W*cked Loppies had a great time yesterday. I can just see you KK floating along the motorway with that smile that he always puts on our faces. Can’t wait to see it again.
Well, would you believe me if I told you that Eva had converted? No….? Didn’t think so, but at least she didn’t get into any debates with the priest. She was very kind to drive me to the church this morning and I’m very much looking forward to Sunday lunch and meeting more of the family.
Ali – I would agree with others as regards just carrying on as normally as possible. I would be polite but keep it at that. You’ve made a conciliatory step to resolve it and I personally wouldn’t do any more or end up grovelling to her when she has seemed to have over-reacted to a childrens’ squabble. It is so foolish for the adults to fall out over their children fighting (provided, as Eva says, it doesn’t involve bullying) because the children may well have made up while the adults are still not talking months later. I would advise scollop to just be friendly but if the child is not being that way to keep a little distance for a little while and tell him that it may take time. He has done more than enough by sending a note. Maybe arrange something to promote his time spent with other friends or his brothers, but keep him busy enough not to dwell on it or keep talking about it more that necessary. But for yourself, please try not to lose sleep over it. I’m sure lots of us with older children could tell you so many similar stories, I know I can certainly think of a few, and it will all work itself out, it’s difficult though, I know. Hugs……xx
Jan, the regatta sounds lovely and great that they had good weather, it makes all the difference.
Ok, sofa and book are calling…….ttyl
KK and all had a good time. Why am I not surprised?
Right off to old ladies now
Hello all!
I'm sorry I've not caught up on the blog yet - but thank you Scott for the lovely new home. It looks like the loppies are all settling in.
Ploppy and I have had a lovely weekend. It was quite unusal seeing the show with a gand of non-loppy mates but it was fun too.
Caz says Hi to the Loppies she met at Boxfest and was asking after Jo and Eva.
It was lovely to bump into Geri and KK as we headed to the resturant for lunch. They were sat just around the corner from us as I was able to pop over and say 'hi'. What a great suprise to see Jenny there too!
In the theatre I bumped into Karen A and her Ploppy. One of my friends asked if I knew everyone in the theatre. Good job it wasn't a full fest!
Now our seats weren't brilliant for Lee watching. In the first half especially he had his back to us alot. And of course in the duet we couldn't see his face either. But what when we could see him... Phwoar!!!
And we were in a great place for the Tazan enterance too. Wow! That's got really dramatic now - and there was a round of applause and a cheer for him (started by a small Irish woman I believe.)
Rachel was brilliant! She stunned all my friends. I think Ploppy is in love with her. Sarah on for Louise was very, very good - as was our stand in wizard. And the man himself? Superb of course! He was in fine form and sounded wonderful singing with Rachel in the duet! Even Ploppy admitted his was 'good'.
I had a bonus treat of having KK and Geri join us all for drinkies after the show. It was great to be able to have a proper natter. Lovely to see you both girls.
Right - will catch up on the blog now!
Diana, excellent news about your in-laws.
Oh dear Ali, what a silly situation, not silly to you of course, but kids have been falling out, and in again for centuries, it’s part of growing up. I have to say that neighbour/friend should have more sense than to fall out with you, and for goodness sake your sister and two other people as well, what did they do to her??
I can’t think what advice to give to you, but I could advise her to grow up!
Hope the boys can still be friends.
Eva, lunch sounds yummy, shame your Father couldn’t share it.
Jan, the carnival sounds fun.
Ditto what Karen said!!
Jane you had a good time then? I’ll be in that position in November when I go with Ploppy and four friends, it seems funny seeing Lee without my Loppy friends.
Back in a bit.
Jane, fancy that small Irish woman cheering! They just don't know how to behave;) You are right, it would have been very odd if you'd said hello to more people. Just hope they don't come to a concert, where you'd know most of the first 2 rows, plus others!!
We walked to see the old ladies but dog did not go in. I left her with a couple outside. She is walking funny on her good leg. I think she has popped her hip. She is not in pain. I've given her some anti inflammatory medicine.
Afternoon. Thanks for the advice, I was feeling a little over-sensitive last night. As I thought the 2 boys are now friends again and there was no need for any of this to have happened. Unfortunately for the other mother , she has alienated herself from too many people recently and has made herself quite unpopular. I suspect she is very unhappy and there is more to it. I have decided to be polite if spoken to but nothing more.
Anyway, enought of all that. Glad the W*ckedfesters had a great time. I'm still struggling to read the book at present. It's not easy to get into.
Eva and KK sounds as if you are having a relaxing sunday. I'm looking forward to a couple of relaxing weekends as my friends are going on holiday and I have 2 weekends off work.
Sorry to beg again, but can I have a few oohhmms for my nephew, Oliver. He was unwell at church this morning and the doctor has diagnosed tonsilitis. Poor little thing was shivering and his lips turned blue and he developed a rash all over. My friend, a nurse, told my sister to get him to a doctor asap, he's now on antibi's.
Ploppy has just poured me a large glass of red and informed me dinner will be 10mins so I'd better go.
Afternoon girls glad you wicked ladies had a great time.
Scott thank you ofr our new clean home.
Sorry for absence but now I am busy with organising Nicholas's one-man show which starts on 8th of August.
will let you know how it goes .hope it will be ok cos I need tickets!!!!.
Oh ali here are some oooohhhmmmsss for Oliver.
Hi all
Home again, safe and sound, exhausted but still on a real high!
So, yesterday - how did it GO? Geri met me at the coach station, we dropped the bags at the hotel and then went off to lunch, where we bumped into Jane, Ploppy and their friends. Then Jenny joined Geri and I for lunch, which was a great bonus. And drinks in between shows with Jane and her gang was another bonus we weren't expecting! So glad your Ploppy liked it Jane, he was very complimentary about Lee, your Ploppy clearly has good taste. A big thank you to all who shared yesterday.
It was very exciting to be back in the theatre again. It looked full for both performances. Gl*inda, The Wizard and N*ssaRose were all played by understudies in the evening. Gl*inda was brilliant, so funny and the Wizard and N*ssarose were both very good but I prefer the originals.
At the matinee, as the moment of His entrance approached Geri and I grabbed each others hand in anticipation and then.......there he was - looking as gorgeous as ever! And, oh those white trousers were as hot as I remember! We had lots of spectacular views of the ROTY which just enthralls me every time I see it in those trousers, it is soooooo perfect and the trousers just show it off to perfection!! We were right under Him (oo,er) when he went up the ladder in DTL and as he squatted down, I was treated to the most wonderful sight!! In fact, I gasped and said "Oh My God"!!! I'm sorry (no I'm not) but, as beautiful as his face is, when he is wearing those trousers I just cannot take my eyes off them (or their contents!!). As you know, I have a thing about waistcoats, and that whole outfit, with the boots, is just the s*xiest thing I have ever seen him in!! We know he was given his own coat when he left Joseph, well if I were DVO I'd be asking if he could have one of those outfits to bring home when he leaves W*cked!!
D*fying Gr*vity just blew me away again as it has done every time I've seen it! No G**d D**d blows me away too! R*chels voice is so powerful and I love the drama of those two songs.
The duet, at both matinee and evening, was simply stunning. He is totally convincing and his eyes never left her face, and the way he caresses her so lovingly just melts my heart! His voice was perfection, as was R*chels.
I cried! Several times!! And a thought occurred to me - I know it's way too early to be thinking of his last night but I was thinking of the last night of Joseph and the moment that it all finally got to me was when he was singing ADWD at the end of the show and he sang the line "May I return to the beginning", it was so poignant. I realised last night when that moment will come on his last night of W*cked - it will be when Elph*ba says "We've seen his face for the last time". It got me last night (in fact I have a lump in my throat right now) and I just know it will do more so on the last night! I will be clinging to the sentiment from "Changed For Good" - "You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart"! Sob!
Anyway, enough about the last night, that's ages away and we have a lot to look forward to in the meantime!!
He got a big cheer at the end, in both performances, and when we all stood for the ovation for the girls, he looked over in our direction, waved and treated us to a huge smile, leaving two very happy loppies!!
We went to the SD after the evening performance and waited for a while but then someone came out and said that he'd already left, so we waited a little longer, just in case, but then we decided to head off. It had been a very long, very exciting and very Meady filled day and both Geri and I needed our beds and our dreams!
Sorry, I know I've rambled on again and you've heard it all before, but just to say one more thing and to repeat what I said earlier........
I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Karen, shame you were disappointed about the show you saw in London. I know the costumes are very boring. Perhaps next time you go down there you should consider going to a different show or try a film. (Oh dear have I got the wrong end of the stick?)
Seriously, I'm glad the coach journeys were worth it. Never expected they wouldn't be.
I've just watched Sherlock Holmes from last Sunday. (I missed seeing it for some reason.) I was doing some w*rk w*rk at the same time. Well I started the w*rk and gave it up. The program was excellent. Certainly a must see for tonight. OK I did work out who, well what job the killer did early on, but that didn't matter. I still have the w*rk to do.
Ali lots of ooohhhmmmns for nephew, I used to have that regularly, not nice.
Dog is walking about, but still looks odd. I'll keep an eye on her.
Oh KK, you are making me so jealous. Can't wait to see him. Not too long now!
Hi all. Great reviews - Wicked and Norway - fab.
Ali I agree with you - other mum has issues and she is loser so just feel sad for her. Tho have to say I have friend who is lovely but her son was ALWAYS right and mine wrong . The roughest tumblest of our gang was a girl who knocked out eldest scollops tooth! Her mum kept dressing her in LauraAsh..y dresses to make her into a "real" girl - but she still roughed and tumbled! Luckily her mum was fab and just accepted her daughter caused all the "trouble" - tho it didnt stop her hankering after a sweet demure little girl. I learnt that as long as i felt my boys knew right from wrong and kept to that as much as possible I just ignored what others said - but easier said than done. Coincidentally i am reading an Anita shr.ve book "Testim..y" about boys vs girls "blame" in a teenage sexual context. Interesting.
Been to a 60 th (I have very old friends!) birthday party. Fun. Had some (OK 2-3 glasses) champagne and PG blush so feel the need for an Eva. Ploppy already sparked out (and that without the incohol). person at party recommended kiniesiology for Post v..al syndrome and as he isnt getting any better and still losing loads of weight may look into that. He is allowed to work 3 days (instead of 2) days at home from next week so hope that helps too.
Oh Jo, poor Shannon, hope she’s ok.
Ohhhhmmmsssss for Oliver, hope the antibis kick in quickly.
Chantale, masses of luck to Nicholas for the 8th.
Karen thanks for your lovely review, but what are you trying to do to me?? ‘We’ve seen his face for the last time’ and ‘a handprint on my heart’!! I could cry right now. I have to say though, the last Joseph will take some beating, in fact I can’t believe we will ever have such an emotional show again!
And once more, ditto what you said.
Fi, good to see you, hope Ploppy improves soon. I’ve never actually met him, but from his photo he doesn’t look like he’s got a great deal of weight to lose! Ohhhmmmsssss for him.
Do you know how many horse rugs you can get into a medium sized 4x4? And how many trips up stairs it takes to put them into the spare room? Ans 1: no idea as more than one in a bag. Ans 2: 10. They are clean, but not required any more (clear out), en route to horse charity. Now all I need is a concert in Norwich and I can drop them off. Since there are none planned I'll get them shipped.
Sorry Sue, didn't mean to turn you into an emotional wreck too, I'm always emotional after spending time with lovely Loppies and the man Himself! I totally agree with you about the last night of Joseph, I said exactly the same as you, to Geri yesterday. That was a very special night and I don't know if we'll ever see that again, which just makes it all the more special!
Btw, did I say........I LOVE HIM!!!!
Not caught up yet so don't know what's happened to Shannon. Do hope she's okay Jo!?
Forgot to tell you, and I know you're desperate to know, but my lip has lots of little blisters across it from the burn! Hot drinks hurt but, thankfully, wine doesn't....phew!!
Dog is not in pain, just walking funny. The hip to the good leg seems to be turning out in a funny way when she walks. She is more pibbed that we haven't been out for the evening walk. I did take her for a walk around the garden.
Sorry KK, who do you love??
I've caught up at last! No it hasn't taken me hours to read the blog, Ploppy and I have been reviewing finances. Gulp!
This is very important as Ploppy would really like to see W*cked again. (Of course I'll go just to keep him company)Hmmm perhaps we could buy each other tickets for Christmas pressies...
He! He! Sue -the worst bit about going to see the show with non-loppys is the remembering not to grab Ploppy's arm and shout OMG when himself comes on in those trousers! Very pleased to hear Gordon and Heather are doing well!
Aw - thanks for the review KK! Those seats sound fab! You and Geri must have really enjoyed the view - and how great to get a smile from him! Shame about the SD though.
Hmmm Diana - I'm inclined to agree with Carol - I bet Richard's girlfriend is head over heels in love with the GO. Good news about your in-laws. But my advice is DON'T do a seating plan! Ours caused so much upset. Let 'em sit where they want.
Jo - thanks for that interesting teccy info on Skeggy. Nice to know the GO likes to hear the audience. OOOHHMMMMS for your dog.
Ali - you do right to just act as normal as possible with that woman. The chances are she's got something upsetting her and she's taking it out on people. Glad the kids are behaving like grown ups and have made up.
OOOHHMS for Oliver.
And Chantale - fingers crossed for Nick.
Eva and K2 - it sounds like you are both having a great time. Now what on earth have the two of you found to talk about?
Carol - you were so lucky about that purse! Glad the Tap Show was good.
Jan - the regatta sounds lovely.
Fi - glad you enjoyed the party. Lots of OOHHMMS for your Ploppy hope you find something that helps him.
Not heard from Geri yet - I hope her flight is OK!
TTFN
Only Geri left. Hope she gets home OK.
Right must finish off the w*rk.
Nightlee night
Karen, yes you did say you LOVE HIM - - - - - frequently!
Jane, hope you can work the finances out to include some fests, and at least Ploppy does want to see W*cked again, Christmas presents are a good idea. Btw when DO we see you again?
I had some really sad news last Sunday, (which I forgot to mention on the blog, I think because I was with the Skeggiefesters when I heard) an old colleague of mine died suddenly. She was only 61 and the funeral is on Thursday. The PM result says it was a coronary, but there was also some heart defect that had never been diagnosed.
Doesn’t it just show that you have to grab life with both hands and make the most of being here? Could her family have some ohhhmmmsss please for Thursday.
Nite nite Loppies x
OK w*rk done
sleep tight
Good morning, now there's a surprise BHB, caught you napping did I?
Just popped in as left pooter doing something overnight.
Bye
http://livemusic.fm/band/lee-mead
Morning. Another grey morning, where's the sun gone?
Still can't get my pencil back.
Thanks for the link, Jo.
Ohmms to Sue's colleague's family.
Morning all. It's cloudy here, but we have been promised a better day as the hours pass. The temperature is +16.2 degrees.
Hello sweetheart. You look a little shocked. Jo came in and woke you up before 7 am? Well, isn't it nice with unexpected company? Yes, I thought so.
Today my guest is off on her own. She is going on a 4 hour boat trip in the fjords, and afterwards she is meeting the beloved niece for a trip up the mountain in the funicular. They really hit it on yesterday, and decided to meet up again today.
Me? Oh, I have the hairdresser to go to for a cut, paperwork in connection with the sale of the summerhouse to sort out, etc. I think I'll manage without feeling too lonely!
KK,- what's this? You've fallen in love? Well, I never! Who with, then? Could it be your Ploppy? Silly question, I know.
Jane,- how good to hear that your Ploppy has good taste when it comes to musicals. I'm sure you can find the money to invite him to see W*cked again, or he can find it to invite you.
So Caz remembers me? I hope I behaved myself!
Jo,- are you taking the old girl (Shannon) to the sexy vet? Maybe she'll perk up when she sees him. I'm sure you will!
We'd better be going. I'm taking K2 into the city and drop her off in the harbour.
See you later.
Eva, did you really drop K2 in the harbour?
Morning - oh dear I see K2 is learning to swim the hard way - in the harbour! Hope she surfaces in time to have a lovely day (sounds perfect!). Well amazingly it appears that the Wxckxd visitors all enjoyed the show!! Sorry to hear Shannon not well Jo, but pleased that Fi had a lovely party. Glad everyone enjoyed their weekends. I'm running late again - trains and then Baby B in first thing and it's been manic ever since - he's just gone to a meeting - phew!! Auds I remember going to Schipol years ago when I met up in Amsterdam with then boyfriend who was working in Vixnna! Right better get on - hello BHB you want to tell me about old friends you saw at the weekend? Ok will I'll grab the Vanillita and you bring the paninis. Sadly no DCM this morning as she won't be home until this afternoon. Have a lovely day all.
Humph! Site won't recognise me. Have I been missing that long? Surely not.
I see we have a shiny new home. Won't even try to catch up on everything I've missed so I'll just say, Oh dear! Well done! Congratulation! Such a shame! Ohmmm!
My work--never the most relaxing of jobs--has really escalated lately and I've been crawling home at night too exhausted to even see straight. I've been keeping up with Lee news with chatting to Jane and following Ro's Timeline twitter -- the brain won't process anything more extensive than snippets, I'm afraid. No chance of it slowing down unless I get laid off, which is a definite possibility.
Anyway, on to happier topics: Lee!
As you undoubtedly know by now, I flew to London yesterday morning to meet KK and possibly see Jane. I had an e-mail from KK to say Jenny was flying over on the same day as me. A couple of text messages later, and we found we were on the same flight. Not only that, but she was sitting right behind me on the plane!
It was lovely being able to chat about the GO, think about the GO, look forward to seeing the GO... We had lunch at that restaurant opposite the theatre and Jenny joined us. Jane and her entourage (or her ploppy's hareem of 30-40 women) were sat around the corner, but she hobbled around to visit us a few times.
We persuaded Jenny (with SUCH difficulty!) to come to the matinee and she was able to get a last minute ticket. I'm not sure, but I think her seat was better than KK's and mine! True, she was about 4 rows behind us, but much more central.
The show seems to have settled since last I saw it and the cast have really developed. Alas, Clive wasn't on and I wasn't as fond of his stand-in. He played the part well enough, but he didn't have that genial quality Clive brings to the part. Not that it mattered, I was there just to see one man and it was such a relief to see him in the ensemble, looking as gorgeous, smiley, and talented as ever.
After what seemed to be an age he at last trundled onto the stage in the sunglasses and THOSE trousers! Oh my, what a happy man he is! And what happy loppies we were too! We were sat on the right side so were able to see that lovely face very clearly, and we weren't too far back with a tiny child in front of us (thank You!) so had a really fabulous view of the Rear of the Year, the Face of the Decade, the Front of the Century...
It's hard to believe those costumes (esp the white breeches, boots and red waistcoat) weren't designed specifically with him in mind. They were just made for him. At the moment when he's up on the ladder I really wanted to freeze time so I could savour every rippling muscle. The thighs are amazing, but so are the shoulders and you really get a good look at those well-defined biceps. Sigh. I could go on and on and on...
The hair was nicely floppy, the smile bright, the voice magnificent. He's really dug down into the character of F now and there are nuances in his performance that weren't there a few weeks ago.
When he makes his entrance with the rifle I just clapped because he did it so beautifully and it was lovely that everyone joined in.
The duet was OMY-fantastic. I think Rachel deserves some sort of award for not collapsing into a state of pure mush what with his hands caressing her, at one point on her left thigh, and then that kiss! Wow! It was a rather chaste smooch a few weeks ago, now it's more -- does anyone have a bucked of water to pour over that pair?!
Then the end--so sad and for so many reasons. You hate that the show is over and knowing what's happened to his character (I mean, turning him into a lifetime of floppyness -- could there BE a worse fate?!) And then the final bow... He got a big cheer and he looked right at KK and me (I don't think we were whooping louder than anyone else!) and he smiled and waved! There was a definite sense of recognition when he saw us. We've decided next time we'll blow him a kiss and see what happens!
We met up with Jane & her thousand friends and had dinner and a drink before they headed back oop-north, and KK and I returned to the theatre for the evening show. Well, it would be rude not to, wouldn't it?
The boy was again in fine voice but the audience wasn't quite as good. They liked the girls, but Lee's reception, though good, wasn't as uhm, unbridled, as the matinee.
Alas, he didn't come out after the show, but it was nice that someone came and told us he'd left. I suppose it was his 13th day of work in a row so we couldn't really blame him for cutting off home in a hurry.
KK and I stayed in a small 'Upstairs-downstairs' type of hotel just a few minutes from the theatre. Other than lots of chat about His Meadyness we didn't stay up late and had a really quite night's sleep.
Next day I saw KK off on the coach (just to make sure she didn't a) have an accident, b) get lost, c) have an accident. Then I went off to explore the city a bit.
Found myself back in Covent Gdn, then wandered to the Portrait Gallery. Still no Richard in residence so went down to commune with the Victorians instead. (Catch me oohing over those nasty Tudors-- I don't think so!) It was nice though to see people like Tennyson, Disraeli, and Vic / Alb. Then I had lunch at M*d K*tch*n (grilled trout, cider. Yum!) and then a meander around the streets and a visit to the bookshop.
The flight home was fine, though I was totally exhausted when I got in. Watched Sh*rlock then went to bed.
Today is a bank holiday, and I've all my weekend chores to catch up on. Hope to have a chance to catch up though with all the Meady / loppy stuff I've missed. TTFN.
Morning all
I had a lovely long lie in this morning, it was quite an exhausting weekend with those two four and a half hour coach journeys. It's amazing how sitting on your backside for so long can be so tiring!
Good to see you back on the blog Geri, don't worry it's not just you that it won't let sign in, it's happened to a few us, me included - grrrrrr!!!! Thank you for looking after me at the weekend. Enjoy your day off!
Ploppy wants to know what I was up to over the weekend as I have a huge bruise on my inner thigh! Come to that, I'd like to know what I was up to, to get it!!!!!
Hello all! And a big 'hello' to Geri! Now don't get cross with BBBT - it seems to be sulking with a few of us.
Hmmm - the audience was quieter in the evening eh? I know I'm only one little Loppy - did my cheering make such a difference? Smashing you got a smile from the GO (sigh)
Sue - sorry to hear that sad news. OOHHMMS fort he family. I will be act Octfest and W-don - will I see you then?
Eva - you are of course unforgettable. Of course Caz remembered you. Now go and pull K2 out of the harbour! (Really - these Vikings)
Thanks for the link Jo - I'll follow it tonight!
Evening All
It’s ok, Eva knew I could swim when she dropped me off this morning and I didn’t get too wet.
What a day! The boat trip was unforgettable, if I started to describe it I’d be here all night. As with the train journey to Bergen, I’ve taken so many photos it’s going to take me hours to sift through them and pick out a selection so as not to bore people to death. I met lots of nice fellow travellers, quite a few nationalities and there was a very convivial atmosphere on the boat. It was not very sunny but stayed dry the whole time which was great and there were cosy blankets to wrap yourself up in if you chose to stay out on deck, which I certainly did.
On returning to the harbour, I met as arranged, with Beloved Niece. At this point let me say that she truly deserves her title, she is such a sweet girl. We had chatted for quite a while after dinner yesterday and she was great company today. She had her friend’s little baby with her and he slept almost all the time. We took the funicular up the mountain. It is so incredibly steep and the view in all directions of Bergen city and the port is wonderful. We had coffee and then we decided to walk down rather than take the train. It took about 30/40 mins through the woods and then down through windy streets of some very old houses. It was such an advantage being with a local because I wouldn’t have been sure of the route down and would have had to just take the train if I were alone. All in all a fantastic final day.
My hostess has just informed me that dinner will be served in 2 minutes so I’d better finish up.
Thanks Geri for your review. Between yourself and KK you’ve probably whetted a few appetites to get to the show again asap.
Ok, better go, it’s steak and it smells fab……ttyl
Evening all. I'm home again after a lovely weekend. I haven't seen enough of my Lancashire connections for a few years, so it was lovely to have a really good catch up. Can't say the weather was up to much though, lots of rain, so unusual! Still it is so beautiful where my cousins live, it isn't the be all end all. They are on a hill overloking the Ribble Valley and near the Trough of Bowland which is stunning. Good food Good wine and good chat, what more can a girl ask for!
Had a skim and I see that a good weekend was had by those in London, can hardly believe it! Sounds brill, glad you all enjoyed yourselves.
K2 I see you had a swim in the harbour today. Do you drop all your visitors in there Eva? Some sort of right of passage maybe? Glad you are having a lovely time K2, you have such a lovely hostess how would you not?
Thanks to Scott for our new home and thanks to Twin foir directing me here.
Sue1 of course lots of ohhhhmmmms for your friends family, very sad.
I have probably missed lots so ohhhhhmmmmms where needed and sorry! Better sort myself out.
Drip - drip - who's that leaving a puddle on the blog? Oh Hi there K2!
Oh Pauline - I love the Trough - brings back childhood memories!
Hi again, K2 back (in between videos), ssshhh, Eva's on the G&T already!
Pauline - your weekend sounds lovely, so glad the weather didn't bother you, you're right, it's not always the most important thing.
Forgot to say earlier that I bought myself a purple hat today, Eva approves I think.
K2, what a lovely day you have had. Beats mine by miles.
Eva, unfortunately s*xy vet only does horses and anyway he is away on his hols.
Dog's leg seems a bit better today.
Geri, Hi. BBBT has been sniffy with me a couple of times. Glad you had a lovely weekend, you needed it. And a few more.
Jane, Ploppy has a harem? Oh well.
P2, rain is good for you!!
Right better do some w*rk. Perhaps I should eat first.
Glad such a good time was had by all over the weekend.
Quite a wckedfest, sorry to have missed the Dubliners but sounds that you all had a wonderful day.
Well done KK for surviving the coach journeys but sure it was well worth it.
Fantastic news Jane that your ploppy now a convert.
Ali, sorry to hear about the unpleasantness, always a mistake to get involved in children's quarrels, hope it's soon all forgotten.
Diana glad that you've 'sorted out ' the in laws and can now get on with the arrangements.
Carol,, happy to hear purse found quickly, I know that awful feeling of panic.
Chantale, good luck with the preparations for Nicholas's exhibition.
Ooohhmms for Shannon's leg Jo.
Fi more OOhhmmmmmmms for Ploppy.
I had a useful w/e with dollop, sorting plans for our trip to NY and the last minute family hol. to Lanzagrotty.
Jane the Trough is where I spent many a day out in my chilhood as well!
Thanks Jo I'm sure rain is good for me, but in small doses! Sorry Shannon has a poorly leg, hope it gets better soon.
Main course: Blackberries, peach, passion fruit, grapes, pineapple, strawberries all cut up in a large cereal bowl. (Just got to fight the fruit flies for it.) Pudding: Cherries. (OK, I know the air miles are huge, except for the blackberries (100 yds), strawberries (30 mls) and cherries (50mls).) And what to drink, ahh I know a nice dc. Just think of all the acid, it doesn't seem to bother me.
I'm off the G but stayed with the T. K2 is on the T but of the PG kind.
We've been watching "Enid" about E. Bl*ton, very good, and then some light relief with D*c Martin.
Jo,- that meal sounds good,- I love berries of all kinds. Save some for me, please.
I'm off to my bed,- without the G and the T, back on the W (water).
Good night all, sleep tight, have wonderful dreams and wake up happy.
Maeve what a globe trotter. If you haven't been to Ellis Island since 1990 (they did up the visitor centre then) go, it made me cry. All the hopes and aspirations.
http://www.ellisisland.org/genealogy/ellis_island_history.asp
I'm off to bed. Back to the nightmare tomorrow. Still, it's been a lovely weekend, and at least the working week will be short.
Watched Who Do You Think You Are -- very sad. Also been reading (Brideshead Revisited) and finally got around to downloading some music from a secret source (thanks to my favourite feline friend...)
Hope everyone is well and happy in loppy land. Sweet Meads, all.
Sigh - no pencil again! Just back from meal out with friend who is going into hopsital week after next. Had a lovely evening but off to bed now! Sweet Meads all.
Feeling a bit tired, must be all that driving. Off to bed so night night and sleep tight all.
I've never been to the US of A, Jo, thanks for the advice, Ellis Isl is on our list!
Pauline, pleased to hear you had a good time with the cousins.
Geri, lovely to see you, thanks for that review. Can’t wait till October when I can see it again. I do make up for lost time a bit after that I have four more tickets in the drawer.
Jane, yes I’m at both of those.
K2, I’m loving hearing about your holiday.
Pauline, glad you enjoyed your weekend, it sounds a delightful place.
Jo glad Dog’s a bit better. My pair are in the wars a bit, little spaniel hurt her leg a few weeks ago, trying to climb a fence and she’s now got a small lump which the vet thinks is infected, so on antibis. Old springer has lumps all over her, nothing to worry about says the vet, but she has a couple of small warty looking ones which need to be cauterized ‘cos she keeps catching them and she’s bleeding all over the house (sorry probably too much information!). They will do it with a local anesthetic next week, she’s so good, and she’ll keep still. Vet bill to date £70.20!! It’s only a couple weeks since they had their MOT and jabs, which cost a fortune. I love them dearly, but I have to think of Lee tickets!!
Maeve, I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of NY, we just loved it.
Bedtime for me I think, nite nite Loppies x
That's the trouble with animals Sue. M is going to have an op soon, to try to cut out the yuk in her foot. We won't even talk about the cost, if she has to have a general, and the dangers. The latter doesn't bear thinking about.
Naughty, naughty BBBT
try again
Right, I've done some w*rk and also managed to get the Y Ones photo. I've had to cut out the others, except N*il as 2 of them are quite important people now. The photos are very small as they were scanned and then cut.
I better get to bed after my 3hrs sleep last night.
Nightlee night
Hello from SP (my London home!)
Just back from the Apollo in what I believe is known as the DNA zone. Apart from the obvious attraction, I luved everything about the show. I was so impressed by RT and although I was a bit unsure of LD (having seen the understudy on Saturday) by the end of the show I felt the rapport between the two girls was phenomenal. I was really touched by their rendition of 'Because I knew you'. Needless to say, that other duet was the absolute highlight.
Off to the Globe tomorrow for a bit of culture.
Great to meet up with KK and Jane on Saturday and Geri, of course, although shame on us that we have to wait to be in London.
Jenny Dublop
Morning. Blue skies this morning in London.
Some interesting comments from Mark Sh*nton about Wicked. He's particularly kind to Louise & Lee, though no mention of Rachel surprisingly.
http://blogs.thestage.co.uk/shenton/2010/08/defying-gravity-and-the-critics/
Thanks for the lovely long review, Geri. Hope this week's not too awful for you.
Morning all. It's a good day here so far, with some sunshine breaking through the clouds. The temp is currently + 15.9 degrees.
This will have to be a quick hello and goodbye, but I had to stop in to avoid a scolding from BHB.
Hello sweetheart. MWAH MWAH MWAH
K2 slept very well ( she said ) after all the sea air yesterday, and now we're off out to my parents so she can say good bye to them and I can switch cars with my father. (Looooooong story, so don't ask!)
K2 will be picked up by youngest sister and her husband to be taken to the airport. They are going to Dublin for 4 days, and by one of those freak coincidences, they are going on the same flight as K2!
As for me throwing K2 in the harbour yesterday: I had to test her mettle and she passed with flying colours! Even that walk she and the beloved niece did yesterday down from the mountain is very hard on the legs and knees, so well done to her! We'll make her a Viking yet!
Hmm interesting article Diana and as you say very odd no mention of RT - perhaps Scott Dear has had a chat with MS and can cast some light? Agree about LD though and of course about the GO!
Morning BHB lovely sunny day today so perhaps the hammock on the terrace?? First of ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmssss for all the needies, poorlies, and those in need of a hug (including four footed ones, and friends and families). Glad to see K2 none the worst for having been dunked in the harbour yesterday! Have come into a large report that I have to scan and send off, so better get the staff meeting going. OK BHB you bring the jugs of Soco Smash and I'll get the paninis. We can sit and chat whilst we wait for the DCM............
Loved reading all about everybodies weekend, sounds as though everybody had a good time, as did we at Toby's Birthday party, all ent to well, and sorry to say again but Toby is such a charasmatic boy.
Sorry to hear your M is going to have an op soon Jo, we have just spent about £300 on our Cat, the Vet wasn't sute whether the problem was medical or mental.
We are now off to Sussex again to see P'S,Sloppy, might try and tell her about Dollop this time?????
Morning all, and a lovely sunny one it is too, I can tell I'm back in the south. Ow stop hitting me Jane and KK. Sadly I don't think it is going to last.
Eva do tell why you have swapped cars with your father....oh sorry you didn't want asking. (tee hee)
Maeve you will love NY I'm sure. I always loved going, just as well as it was roughly once or twice a month! Do go into Central Park (during the day!), it is a lovely oasis now, and then of course there is the Met, museums, art galleries and opera house. All of Broadway goes without saying and off Broadway and then there is the shopping, to die for! Sigh.
Thanks for the link Diana, agree absolutely about the GO, surprise! I love LD as well, but agree RT should have a mention.
Have a good journey K2, all the plane coincidences, spooky, but handy.
Morning BHB, oh wow what a wonderful hug, I should go away more often (oi you lot, don't agree so readily). Of course I'm ready and willing...for the staff meeting, oh yes that too, so I will get some more Soco Smash and we'll join the CM on the terrace. Three in a hammock? Should be fun.
Hello - Martin is unable to post from work, so he has asked me to let you, Jo’s photos are now in Loppy 2 album.
Sorry can’t stop, I’m off to bed after working last night.
oooohhhhmmmmsss to all in need
oops,I missed out the ...know
Morning. Had a lie-in today after a busy day out with the Cubs and Brownies. I had a headache when I got in so after a bath I decided to have an early night.
Done a quick skim but will try to catch up properly later.
Morning All, (K2 here) well this will be my last Norwegian post, my bags are packed and I’m ready to go….. ok, I won’t start singing. Popped in to say goodbye to Eva’s Mum & Dad and there’s just time for a cuppa and a cinnamon roll. See you all from Dublin, xx.
...safe journey K2!
....safe journey K2!
Thanks for that v. interesting link Diana, RT does get a mention, though brief, ".. a terrific, belting Elpheba.."
Pauline, I'm looking forward to NY so much, thanks for your suggestions, we've booked a helicptr ride for Dollop's actual birthday, not sure whether I'll enjoy that or not!
Eva, it sounds as though you and K2 have had a wonderful holiday together.
Hi Jenny, hope you're having a good time in London, any more visits to Wcked planned?
Thanks for the message Maggie.
Hi all,
And first of all thanks for that link Diana - MS is obviously a man of taste (just like Scott). Maeve I noticed the ref to RT too. It's short but it's there! (Oooo sounds like you've got lovely hols planed Maeve)
Now Jo, Ploppy's harem was only 7 strong. That's nothing to MM's harem, when he goes out with the Loppies, is it Carol?
Hi Jenny! lovely to see you on the blog as well as in RL this weekend.
Lovely to see you too Maggie, thanks for being Martin's deputy.
Now I hope K2 is sober enought to fly after all those G&Ts with Eva. Bon voyage lass.
Geri - my colleague was telling me all about WDYTYA this morning. She was very moved. I gather that judge was a nasty peice of work.
Sue - I hope your dog is OK - and OOHHMS for M's op Jo.
Hope your head is better Ali.
And Pauline - shut up! KK and I don't want to know!
Safe journey, K2.
Thanks Maeve & Jane. Thought I was going doolally for a moment. However, I saved MS's review and just checked it - the sentence re Rachel was added later.
I'm going to see himself tonight. Cheapie seat in row B so hoping for a close up! Also hoping that Rachel will be on tonight and in good voice (though I'd be much more upset if Lee wasn't on)
Agree Diana - there was definitely no mention of RT when I read the article first thing! Have fun this evening - the Row Bs we had two weeks ago were excellent so you should be in a good position! Busy morning and I am off to the doctor this afternoon to have bp checked (supposed to be done every six months but I always forget and end up having a reminder!). NY visit sounds lovely Maeve. Hope everyone having a good day.
Hi all
Well, first day back at w*rk today (they all wondered what I'd been up to with my blistered lip, blistered toe and bruised thigh - no, I didn't show them the thigh, just told them about it!) after my week off and my two Meady filled weekends. It was soooooooo hard to go back!! A colleague said to me "never mind it will soon be the weekend again" and I almost threw myself across my desk, like Gl*nda does across the bed, wailing "but I'm not seeing him this weekend". I know, I know, you're all thinking "get a grip KK"!! I know I shouldn't be greedy but seeing him just makes me want to see him more! Is that so wrong!!?
Oo Diana, lucky you. You'll get some lovely close ups from Row B. And don't forget to wave to him at the end so that you get the eye contact too! Have a great time.
Got a brochure through the door today from The Gr*nd at Bl*ckpool, and whose face is staring out at me on the cover? KMcT!! Aggghhh! And guess what it says "KJ, the hugely popular runner up who finished just a hair's breadth (yeah right!) behind LM, takes on the title role having won the hearts of the nation with his sparkling charisma and sensational singing"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????????? Are they talking about the same person?
Hope the BP is okay Carol.
Evening all. Busy day sorting myself out ixxnxxg and shopping, I prefer the second you'll be surprised to know though sadly it wasn't very exciting shopping.
Hope Diana manages to enjoy tonight, shouldn't be too hard I wouldn't think.
KK I had one of those horror mags from one of the theatres I am now a friend of. Scary stuff.
Must go and look at those photos, thanks Jo and Maggie.
Evening. I'm skiving off a church meeting tonight! Sister has to be there as she's treasurer and her ploppy is working so I offered to babysit. I really ought to be there but frankly I can't summon up the energy.
Had a lovely day today, scollop and I popped into town and bumped into sloppy and my sis so we all went for lunch. Later I went to the garden centre with sloppy and we replanted all the pots and hanging baskets outside church. Ploppy has arrived home and announced he has a day off tomorrow as the wheat is too damp to harvest. We're now trying to decide what to do for the day.
Safe journey K2, sounds as if you've had a wonderful time with Eva.
Thanks for all your reviews. Glad everyone has had a brilliant weekend. Loved hearing about it all. Pleased you could swim K2 when Eva dropped you off.
Enjoy tonight Diana.
oohhmmss for all needy and poorly and some for the bank.
Thanks for the links too.
Pleased to say I've booked for Croydon. Ploppy said he thought I already had so I couldn't disappoint him, could I?
Ohms for M's op and Shannon's hip.
BBBT is playing silly sausages again - I've just lost my post (sulk)
Anyway - I love the image of KK doing a Gl*nda! Are you wrong KK? No! You're a loppy!
Diana - have a wonderful time in row B - Lucky Girl - sigh!
Ali - you deserve a night off
Kathleen - good for you booking Croyden! Good move that loppy!
Sweet Meads all
Evenin'. Recycling done, all fed. Just watching TG. So tongue in cheek, love it.
Poor KK, know what you mean. I seem to be wishing the weeks away.
See you in Croyden Kathleen! Whoopie.
Oh Jo, poor Megan. Let us know how she gets on. Love the photo, how old were you then?
Jenny, lovely to see you. Do we get to meet up in real life this year at all?
Thanks for the link Diana, I think I must be reading something different to you though ‘cos somewhere in there he does say Rachel is a terrific belting Elphaba, (ah Maeve you saw it too) and I love what he says about Lee.
Eva, a bit sad that K2 goes home today, but how nice that she’s on the same flight as little sis and hubby.
Jill, can we see a photo of Toby now he’s one? By e-mail if you prefer. I just love the vet’s dilemma about your cat, not sure if it’s medical or mental. I think the same could be said about some people!!
Diana, just read that you’re sneaking another quick visit in, oh I do wish I live near London.
Karen, I know what you mean, the more you have the more you want. Have you decided about Grimsby yet?
Ali, whatever you decide to do tomorrow have a lovely day.
Kathleen, so we’ll see you at Croydon. I still haven’t told Ploppy I’ve booked for Northampton!
Early night for me, Ploppy not feeling 100% and seems to have passed it on to me. Nite nite Loppies x
Back from rehearsal - well it wasn't a rehearsal as our pianist rang just as we were leaving to say she couldn't come, so we went to let everyone know and someone suggested the pub so off we went! Friday's bridegroom was there (he of the Victorian wedding) so it was only right to go and toast him wasn't it? Off to bed now so Sweet Meads all!
Nice to see you Kathleen, good you can get to Croyden.
Ali I think a day off is just what you need, hope you can find something lovely to do.
Sue1 it sounds as if you could do with a few ohhhmmmms. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
I'm Lady Wot Lunching again tomorrow, so I will have an earlyish night I think.
Night night all sleep tight.
Maggie and Martin thanks for putting the photos up. Sue, Fancy dress (or as my ex boss said ' just as normal') about 33/34, leaning against wall 31/32, or a few years from now! Doesn't Ploppy check your ticket special place?
Carol at the pub? dc of course. with a slice of lime as it was a special occasion.
Mr T has been booked for tomorrow.
Nightlee night
oooer - LJ hasn't let me sign in these past couple of days, so I'm trying google - wonder what it'll look like, the symbol/logo I mean.
Plus I've spent tonight "talking" with my Norton security - the backup seemed to have failed - - and disaster among disasters, it seemed I'd lost all my GO photos!!!!! (to be honest, that's what got me onto them, not so much about the backup). Anyway, I found them. I'd tried (well paula did) last Sunday to download the app for my mobile phone.... and it just kept 'hanging', so I made her stop (even when someone else is working of my computer I have no patience) and we went for a walk in the Ruisl*p Lido instead - which appeased me down.
Haven't caught up - but I see K2 is back home after a wonderful time with Aunty Eva (that was a FB post I saw). Oooo and there's pics to look at.. I'll go there next. - well tomorrow maybe, I'm a bit pooped now. Went to see T*yStory3. Absolutely delightful. I loved it and highly recommend it.
I'm off work this week. Am doing a Horse Sculpting course Mon-Wed and absolutely lovin' it. I think you'll be impressed... I'll send a pic to Martin.. cos even I'm amazed. I'm loving being with the horses.. they're at the Eali*g Stables. The gee-gees love all the attention - Tilly & Poppy have been wonderful models, and have shown much interest in the progress - well they keep checking to see if it's something they could eat.
Also during this time my new boiler is being installed. Good heavens, such upheaval.... and they had to knock a huge hole in the wall, so there is a very fun building dust everywhere... I've washed the floor twice already and still it feels gritty underfoot.
Ali - I remember reading a while back about your SinL - and hope that since then (cos I've not been lurking) she's doing OK and that all is well with the baby.
But for now..=.., it's Sweet Meads from me. I'll have more time tomorrow afternoon so I'll catch up then. I know I've got some W*k*d reviews to read as well.... see you later.
ooooo - that's a bit of a mouthful isn't it... won't the 'g' suffice?
And I can't seem to change it to read my name:
So the annonymous poster is me, Auds.
Morning all. It's a grey day here, and the temperature is +15.2, not exactly high summer, eh?
Another one of my lightening appearances, 'cos I have to go and see if I can sort this car business out, and the earlier I start, the sooner it can be sorted.
Yes, my lovely guest has left me. I had a text very early this morning ( at about 2am) that she was safely home, but didn't have any Internet connection.
No time for more except giving BHB a kiss: MMMMWWWWAAAHHHH !
Hi https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=AItOawlNT2Ku3ghYRTn4A5WLxs16cR2-gIw7-YEAuthor Profile Page on August 3, 2010 11:43 PM
or if you prefer Auds. So much easier!
Morning.
Hope you're feeling better today, Sue.
Fingers crossed for Megan.
Enjoy today, Ali.
Good to see you, Auds. I was only thinking yesterday it's been a while.
Lee in good voice last night and looking mighty fine. Love the dancing.
Slight mishap which gave me a chuckle. When Fiyero threw Boq's schoolbook it went quite high and landed on top of the scenery at the far side and may have slipped down behind it. I could see George (Boq) in the wings gazing up where it had vanished, looking at a bit of a loss and then speaking to a stage hand and pointing up. I think they gave up trying to get the book, probably waited until half time. Reminded me of the misbehaving chocolate. Also when Glinda threw her wand into the wings, I heard it hit something and then something else.
Rachel didn't seem quite 100%. She made a great effort to hid it but her voice wasn't quite as good as usual. When she was at the front on my side, she seemed to be sweating but it wasn't that hot. Anyone who hadn't seen her as Elphie before probably wouldn't have noticed. If she's got something, hope she doesn't pass her germs to Lee.
...Diana I hope he didn't kiss her if she's got germs!!! Do you think all the props hold a convention and agree who is going to misbehave next? Auds of course it was you - we all knew that from the lovely chatty style! You MUST go and see Raw esroH! Running late today as our train became defective and they threw us off at H on the H, had to stand all the way to Bxker Street after that. Lovely to see you Kathleen! Being a lady wot lunches with Twin today, so must get on as have stacks to do and better to do it before the dc with twist of lemon a la Jo (in your dreams!!). Hello BHB - I see you have been busy and there are large jugs of Blushing Bubbles ready. I'll grab the paninis and you bring the incohol and we will await the arrival of the DCM.
Morning all, nasty drizzly day and much cooler. I think the weather has followed me home! Mind the garden will enjoy it.
Auds? Think I like your original name the best, the other is a bit of a mouthful and doesn't slip off the tongue so easily. Loved TS3 as well. Look forward to seeing your sculpture.
Thanks for the review Diana, poor Rachel. I hope she is ok, for herself of course, but we don't want any nasty germs passed on. Mind with that kiss I think it is almost inevitable.
Good luck Eva, not sure what the car business is, but good luck anyway.
Morning BHB, oh yes of course there is time for a staff meeting before I go and meet Twin. We'll get more Blushing Bubbles and join the CM.
Morning all!
Who is that masked stranger, posting on the blog? Oh it's Auds! I didn't recognise you in that disguise. Lovely to hear from you as always!
Eva - I'm sure you enjoyed your time with your special guest. Thanks for letting us know she's home safe and sound.
Hope you are better today Sue.
Thanks for your review Diana - glad you enjoyed the show (Lee was on of course you did!) I rather like the idea of the props getting together to work out how to misbehave! I don't like the idea of RT being ill, poor lass. I like the idea of her passing germs to our GO even less!!!
Morning :)
Diana - a similar thing happened with the exercise book a couple of weeks ago, it landed on the upper 'shelf' of the structure that Chistery climbs up in the scenes with the Wizard (which is off stage during DTL of course). Chistery retrieved it when he was next up there, quietly dropping it to the shelf below within 'human' reach where it could be collected by a stage hand the next time it was in the wings!
Rachel has been slightly off her top vocal form for a few days, although as you say, if you'd not seen the show before you probably wouldn't realise - hope she's not spreading lurg around and recovers to full strength quickly.
Hi all
Jo - love the photo. You haven't changed a bit.....er, hang on, no I don't mean that you still look like Neil, I mean you still look as young now as you did then!! (Phew, did I get out of that okay!!).
Kathleen - I like your logic for booking for Cr*ydon!! Good for you.
Sue - hope you and Ploppy both feel better today.
Btw Sue, you asked about Gri*msby. I had decided that I would go if I could get the Monday off w*rk but as it turns out there is a week long "event" at w*rk for which I will be needed for at least one day and typically, for my permanently disorganised employer, they haven't sorted out the schedule yet so I don't know which day I will be needed for. You know what will happen though, don't you, they'll decide at the last minute that it won't be the Monday they need me so I could have gone after all - which will really pibb me off!!! Mind you, from next month right through to February (with the exception of January, which I might just have to rectify!) I'm seeing him every month so I really can't complain (well I can but I mustn't, given that some people don't get to see him very much at all, so I am really, really lucky!).
Crikey Auds - that's some new moniker you've got there!! Mind if we stick with the old one!!?
Diana - glad you had a good time last night. He was looking "mighty fine" huh? I'd say that describes him very well!
Hope the Twins Wot Lunch have had a good one.
Hi from the Giggle sisiters ;)
Yes, we're back together again - You may remember Sue's ploppy sent her off to Skeggie? Well he's at it again, he's sent her up to me for a few days!
May not surprise some of you to read that we had a wonderfully relaxing time here......
www.stobocastle.co.uk - sorry if this doesn't work I'm not the greatest techie!!!!!!
We headed into Edinburgh yesterday and of course had to have brunch at the chocolate lounge in Harvey Nicks - yummy yummy, then we needed to walk it off for a few hours ;)
Had a nice lunch amongst the Pentland Hills earlier today and we're just off back into Edinburgh to see our first show of the Fringe.
Sorry no time to catch up with blog happenings, hope everyone is doing well.
Now I've got to wake Sue up from her 'afternoon Eva' ;)
Byyeeeeee XX
Back home after a lovely lunch, well it could hardly be anything else, good company and a scrummy PGB, heaven!
Giggles, fantastic to hear from you again and I'm sure you manage to relax there, wonderful.
Jo don't think I said I loved the photo, but agree with KK about you not having changed (ditto about not meaning Neil)
It's certainly been a day for long absent Loppies and one in disguise to pop up. Kathleen, Giggle Sisters,- good to see you.
Auds,- I'm not the only one who had difficulties with your alias, but now that you've been twigged, you can relax!
Pauline,- the car business? Remember the car that my nephew The pirate Hunter and I drove up from Spain? Well, it should have taken about 3 days to fix the paperwork for the import and paying the taxes. It has taken almost 3 months to finalize, what with the Customs and Excise, the DVLA, the Renault factory in France (!) and so on and so forth. Sorry, you wanted the short version?:
IT'S ALL DONE! The car is now properly registered in my name, with brand new Norwegian number plates. YIPEEEEEEEEEE !
I also had to spend money on something I'd rather not do,- a new h****r. When I used it after K2 had left yesterday, a small part broke and it can't be fixed. The blasted thing is less than a year old, but it would cost me more to take the thing back to Deal and T*sco to claim on the guarantee than to buy a new one. (Can you imagine the sight,- me checking in at the airport with a h****r?) Fortunately one of the big chains had a sale on, and I got a M*ele one for a very good price.
Of course I don't mean that K2 made such a mess that my h****r couldn't cope! As if she would. Between you, me and the pooter,- when I put her bed sheets and towels in the wash, I inadvertently programmed it for a 4 hour wash! She was most offended, weren't you, K2?
Jo,- you look like a 30 year old in that photo. How come?
I hope Shannon is better.
Ro,- are you telling us that you've been to see W*cked more than once?
Oh that car Eva, of course I remember, but thought it would have been done and dusted long ago! Love the idea of you checking in a hxxvxr. What was K2 up to?!!!
Jo hope Shannon is ok and M is ok as well.
Lovely to see the Giggle Sisters, we've missed you both, and you Kathleen.
Just listening to Louise D*arman. I had vaguely heard of her pre Wicked but hadn't heard her sing
http://www.louisedearman.com/#/listen/4539068463
Louise's album is available to download from Amazon - plus snippets of the tracks
http://www.amazon.co.uk/You-And-I/dp/B003J2HRZC/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1280948576&sr=8-14
Hi to all the MIAs. Of course we could tell it was you Auds, who else would be going to horse sculpting and around R lido. And the G sisters, have a relaxing and interesting time.
After a 2.5 hr session with one of the managers, using one of the company's global electronic systems. He asked me how I got out of bed in the morning. This is due to the system being really cumbersome. If he thinks that one is bad he should use one of the other ones. Well, that comment set me up for the rest of the day, using the system.
See last post http://www.whatsonstage.com/board/index.php?showtopic=8104&st=1790
Wonderful to hear from the Giggles, have a great time together girls.
Eva - I love the image of you in the airport queue with your h**ver!
Thanks for those links Diana - she has a beautiful voice.
I've just been looking at Tick*tm*ser (as you do) - has anybody noticed that some of the cheaper ticket prices are going up (not by much) for performances from Nov? Not that it will matter to us after Feb!!
I've also just been watching a film that I taped the other night - the only reason I taped it was because J*n B*n J*ovi was in it! What a rubbish film! One of those sl*sher type movies - you know the sort, where the dumb blonde "heroine" does all the things NOT to do when being chased by a serial killer, run upstairs where there's no escape, run to a deserted building where there's no one around, go out in the middle of the night to investigate a noise!! I think JBJ should stick to singing!
Great post from the non GO fan, though not if you are a Weepy fan (or Weepy).
Eva, the visit from K2 was too much for your electrical appliances. Oh dear what will they do when I come to stay?
Mt T has been, dog is eating jalapeno potato crispy things, she seems to like them.
Not Mt T, Mr T!!
Ok, time to do some w*rk. MM watched, I remembered who did it, but never mind.
Nightlee night
Jo, fortunately Ploppy’s not in the least bit nosey, so unless he’s lost something my desk drawer is safe from prying eyes.
Auds, we’ve missed you, horse sculpting sounds wonderful, look forward to the photos.
Diana, thanks for the review, (and the links) hope Rachel is ok, ohhhmmmssss for her and for Lee just in case! I’m loads better today, I felt really rotten last night, but it was just a tummy upset. Ploppy is still not feeling 100%, but it seems to be one of these things that are something and nothing, bit of a headache, bit of a sore throat, that sort of thing.
Karen, I also have a date with the GO every month, except September, ‘cos that’s when he’s in BUXTON. I’d heard that ticket prices were to go up in November, good job I’ve got mine.
Linx, lovely to see you, great that Sue’s with you, she needs a bit of pampering.
Time for bed, nite nite Loppies x
Lovely to see the Giggles! Glad you are enjoying yourselves. Eva - I like the idea of you checking in with the hxxver - you could have bought it it's own seat and it could have sat next to you. Had a lovely lunch with Twin - we were forced to stay out longer than usual due to the deluge outside! Sadly Sloppy has been told she has maculative degeneration so they won't do her second cataract op (mind you I suspect she is pleased about that!). I've spent the evening making my bonnet for Friday's wedding - nearly finished, just have to sew the ribbons and the trimmings on! Will do that tomorrow. Off to bed now so Sweet Meads all.
Good to see you are feeling better Sue, and that your Ploppy is ok.
Jo not sure what effect those crisps will have on Shannon, may be advisable not to venture downwind of her for a while.
Watched MM as well and I remembered this one very clearly too. Still enjoyed it though.
Thanks for those links Diana, I like LD very much. Like the last blogger as well but not so sure about some of the others!
Ohhhhmmmms for any sick sad or needy.
Time for bed, said Zebedee, boing. Night night all sleep tight.
H Kathleen and Giggle sisters, good to 'see' you and everyone else too of course.
Sorry to hear about your Mum's eyes Carol, MD doesn't sound good.
Thanks for links Diana, liked the last one, though surprised she didn't realise Weepy also 'Reality Show'.
Eva, glad that the car now officially a Norwegian citizen.
I've been a Lady wot Lunches too today, with my swimming chums but we skipped the swimming bit today, then met grandscollop off train, he's staying for a few days, tomorrow we're going to WH. which reminds me, looking forward to seeing your sculpture Auds.
Morning all. It's a beautiful day here, so far, with blue skies and sunshine, but "they" have promised rain later, so I'll be making the most of the sunshine. I'm off to the summerhouse to continue the house clearing and the c*****g. This time it's the guest house, which has mainly been used as a store room for the last 10 years, so a lot of clutter and rubbish need to be sorted.
As I have a 20 minutes walk to the house, I want to do it while the sun is still shining. I'm bringing my Wellies and raincoat just in case.
Hello sweetheart. Do you want to come with me to the West coast seaside? (He looks tempted, but no....... he realizes it could involve some cl****g!) No? You'll be busy with the staff meeting? Shame!
Sue1,- do you mean you're not going to B*xton?
Jo,- when you come, I'll hire an industrial cleaning machine!
Maeve,- the reason they don't mention Weepy having a reality TV background is that nobody remembers him from ADWD! Too good to resist!
Morning - running late as it's been absolutely manic since I arrived this morning. MM having a cholesterol test today so was on starvation rations from last night (like a glass of water this morning). Have been asked if I can get in at 8am all next week - sigh, means I'll have to be up at 5.45............pooh! Right time for the Staff Meeting I think. Hello BHB see we have some lovely jugs of Vanillita already made, so if you bring those and I take the plate of pastries we should be all set for the staff meeting and the arrival of the DCM. Have a good day all.
Goodness am I running late today. I overslept badly, well actually it was rather nice, but it has put me really behind and I have quite a bit to do today. Maybe it was psychological as it all involves hxxsxxxxk! Eva I see your day invples the same thing, bet yours ends up done though!
Hello BHB, yes | know, but please don't scold I didn't mean to be so late. Oooh I got a lovely hug instead, the world is now a better place. I will grab another jug of Vanillita and we'll find the CM.
Hi there all!
And a big hi to the giggle sisters - it's great to see you girls.
Sue I'm glad you are feeling better. Not such good news about your sloppy though Carol. I hope her eyesight has improved since the first op at least.
Diana - thanks for those links. Nice to read such a glowing review from someone who isn't a fan.
Maeve - enjoy WH!
I had a weird dream last night - it involved Eva and Carys swiming in an harbour and Geri going to the seaside in a removals van. Shame the GO didn't make an appearence!
How lovely to check in and find the giggle sisters and Auds have been here too. Lovely to 'see' you ladies.
Auds, you asked after my SinL. We went to visit her yesterday and she's ok. Her BP keeps going off the scale and she's on loads of medication. She's back and forth to the hospital, GP and midwife every day too. Today she sees her consultant who will hopefully make a decision about the delivery and give her a date. Ploppy is going to ring her later.
Sorry to hear about your sloppy, Carol. Lots of oohhmms for her.
I thought about doing some paperwork today but decided to have a lazy day catching up on some programmes I've recorded recently etc. Trouble is I always feel I should be doing something else instead!!
Evening all
Well, when I left the house at 6.30am this morning there was a very autumnal feel in the air (sorry, I know it's only the beginning of August!) and it has been grey and rainy all day but now we have blue skies and sunshine!! I don't whether summer is here, been or gone!!
Eva - I see you're busy again, you never stop these days!
Carol - hope MM's test was okay. Ohmmmss too for Sloppy.
Jane - was the removal van full of Loppies off on a trip to the seaside to see a concert???
Ali - you usually are doing something else instead! So, I hope you did have a lazy day. Hope your SiL gets a decision.
Hello me dears. What? You don't recognize me? Oh, that's because of the blue teeth!
When I'd finished the cl****g and sorting at the summerhouse, I couldn't leave until I'd picked blueberries. There was so much of them everywhere, so before you could say "berries" I'd picked about 2 pints of the blue delights!
Guess what was for tea? Pancakes with blueberries, hence the blue teeth. Maybe I should brush them?
I got a lot of work done today. The guest house is now sparkling, but dear me, what a lot of grime to get rid of. I've filled 4 black bags with old rain suits, wellies, bed linen and pillows. There were quite a few books and old Donald Duck magazines, but I'll leave it to the young members of the family to see what, if any of those they want to keep.
So Pauline,- how has your day been? (hehehe)
I had a lovely walk there and coming back. The rain didn't start until I was back home.
I'm going back on Sunday with the rest of the family to hopefully finish up the rest of the work.
Ali,- it's comforting to know that the medical profession is keeping an eye on your sis-in-law. Fingers crossed it all goes well.
Jane,- forgot to say:
In your dreams! I don't know, maybe not.
Evening all. Phew, I have a stiff back! I didn't do too much hxxsxxxxk I admit but instead went in the garden where I have been cutting back and clearing all afternoon. The garden looks so much better so worth it. I get the feeling you win Eva. Love the sound of the pancakes, I'm on my way!
Ali I think a day doing nothing but catch up on recordings is just what you deserve. Still ophhhmmming for your SiL, really hope all is well and the consultant can give her a day.
I overslept too today. Dog then moaned that I was running late. Why doesn't she just wake me up? I got to work with 15mins to spare.
Off out now to go to a neighbour to sign as witness to trusts, wills and other legal papers. Should be a little signing party as postman's wife will be the other signatory. I've warned the elves that I'm going out. Dog will complain, I'm sure.
Thanks Pauline for reminding me - OOOHHMMS for your SiL, Ali
Oh, lots always seem to happen in my dreams Eva. And I like the idea of loads of loppies going to see the GO in a removals van KK!
Ploppy has asked me to proof read his latest college assignment so I have to go.
OOOHHHMMMSS for all the needy Loppies.
Sweet Meads
Karen, it felt nippy in London too. Where I wait for the bus at London Bridge it catches the wind and it was really brrr this morning. Please come back summer!
I love blueberry pancakes, Eva.
There's an interview with Denise in the Aug/Sept Now Celebrity Mum & Baby. The Peru trek she & Fearne are doing is last week of September and Lee will be looking after Betsy then which is why he's got that week off. No pics of Lee.
Back from signing. Must have been 10 documents, most had to be signed 3 times by the witnesses. Dog was barking as I walked back up the road.
Certainly nippy now, might have to shut the back door soon.
Carol, sorry to hear your Mum’s diagnosis, m-o-l has that, I bet she is glad not to have another cataract op though. How well can she see with the one they’ve done?
Ali, hope your lazy day has done you good, I reckon it’s time you had one.
Hello Eva, busy as usual I see, when do you get to take a leaf out of Ali’s book?
Maeve, enjoy the company over the next few days, nice to have him all to yourself.
Thanks for the info Diana, so Lee gets a week of one to one with baby eh? Bet Mum will be around to help out.
Went to the funeral today, there was a wreath on to of the coffin that spelled W I F E, I didn’t like it much.
It’s just occurred to me today that when I go on holiday I won’t be able to blog, that’s bad enough, but how will I ever catch up when I get back? If anything earth shattering happens someone will have to text me!
Nite nite Loppies x
....well bonnet finished so almost ready for tomorrow. At least I get a lie in tomorrow! Sleep tight all.
Well done Twin, I think we should all see pictures of you and MM.
Aww a week with Baby, I bet he loves it.
Sue I'm sure you won't miss too much, and will be kept informed.
Bed time so night night all sleep tight.
?????????
Sorry about that TK decided she wanted to chat, but all she could do was ask questions.
Sue I'd forgotten about the funeral. Not a happy day for you.
Carol, pictures would be good.
Right better try to get up in the morning
Nightlee night
Morning all,
OOo Carol I'm sure that bonnet looks lovely. Have a good day.
Glad you got the signing sorted Jo and hello to TK
Sue - hope you have a lovely holiday.
AAwww the GO having a full week with baby B. How sweet.
Can I ask for a few OOHHMMS for Ploppy? - he has a job interview today.
Morning all
Yep it really is me at this time I the morning!
Sue - hope the funeral went ok yesterday.
Carol - yes please, can we see photos. Have a good day.
There's a definite chill in the air again this morning. It was very chilly last night too, I kept going out into the garden to look for the N*rthern L*ghts as apparently we were supposed to be able to see them from up here last night. That is a sight I would dearly love to see! No luck though!! I did think I'd seen them at one point but it was just the reflection of next door's solar lights!!
Morning BHB, yes I know you're surprised to see me. I was in w*rk ridiculously early and I'm just waiting for some reports to load. Why are you yawning BHB? Yes I know it's boring. What's that? You can think of something far more intersting to do!! It begins with Snug and ends with gle!? Oh go on then, if nobody minds, just to keep you busy till the others get here. Mmmmm, that's lovely! Reports, what reports? Think I'll just stay here instead!!!
Have a good day all! It's Friday, yaaaayyyyyy!!!!
Sorry Jane, forgot to say Lots of Luck to Ploppy. Will keep my fingers crossed. Ohhhmmmssss.
Hi all - and bye all . Off to Scotland for long weekend - been told to pack my thermals- and wellies! Others not going and UB scollop off on his inter rail un - how will he survive without his mum to wave him off! Ploppy having a rest!
K1 - i am sure i must have seen northern lights living in W isles all these years but have no recollection of doing so - tho do remember sometimes seeing wonderful light in sky at night! Naivety of youth.
Ohhms to all who need. Gosh your ploppy doen well Jane to get interview so fast - he is in demand - Ohhhm.
Have a lovely weekend everyone
Morning and of course lots of oooohhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmssss for Jane's Ploppy - as Fi says he has done brilliantly to get an interview so quickly! Fi have a lovely break - you deserve it. Sue-1 she isn't sure how well she is seeing at the moment as she can't wear her normal glasses, but I wil check with her tomorrow when she is here. My sister said the hospital said the md would mean it wasn't as clear as they would have hoped (does that make sense). TK - lovely to see you with all those qustions! So GO doing a baby sit for a week - bet he will love that, also bet he won't be doing it alone!! Ohhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmsssssss for all those in need or under the weather, or suffering in any way. Sun is shining at the moment, just hoping it doesn't rain - have a lace parasol which I don't think will keep the rain out! Just putting some lace onto my bodice then I am done (well apart from getting into the outfit of course). Good news is of course that it is Friday!! What's better is I am not at wxxk! Right BHB time for the staff meeting I think. I see we have jugs of Lush ready, so I'll grab the paninis, and we can go up to the terrace and wait for the DCM to arrive.
Morning all, and though the sun is shining, clouds are gathering ominously. Still I'm Lady Wot Lunching again today, I know it's hard but someone has to do it, so the weather not a huge problem!
Jane, ooh lots of ohhhmmmmms and crossed fingers for your Ploppy. As has been said that was quick which is wonderful in itself.
Fi have a great weekend and hope the wellies aren't needed too much.
I saw the northern lights once from the flight dack of an aircraft. We were flying over the north pole when the captain called us up to look. It was lovely but I don't think anything like as spectacular as they are seen from the ground in Norway.
Hello TK, so many questions and no answers.
Morning BHB, what's that hanging on you? Oh I see it's Karen. Let go Karen, this is staff meeting time, we'll just get more jugs of Lush and join the CM.
Back from Sussex.
Carol hope the rain keeps away, your outfit sounds lovely, as requested before photos please.
Ali I was pleased you reported on your SiL , I was wondering how many weeks has she to go??????
Maeve I can't wait till Toby is old enough to take him to the Theatre and other stuff, it must be lovely for you.
Fi have a lovely weekend in Scotlandhope it's a restful one too.
Jane lots of good wishes for your Ploppy, hope it all goes well for him today.
I am feeling a bit sad today, we are going into Windsor, because I have to have my wedding ring cut off and made bigger, I know it sounds stupid, but it hasn't been off of my finger for 45 years, since the day Ploppy put it on there, I have to wait about 3-4 weeks before they can measure the finger to make it bigger.
Oohhmms for your Ploppy, Jane.
Hope the rain stays away Carol and MM.
Oohhmms to you Jill, hope you don't feel too lost without your ring.
Have a lovely break Fi, you certainly deserve it.
SinL will be having a c-section next week. Looks like we'll be going to visit next weekend all being well.
Got to get out of the house for a bit as we have a very loud chirping cricket (food for the dragon) and it's driving me mad. When ploppy gets home I'll get him to hand feed the damn thing to Ozzy! I'm afraid I'm no good at touching them!
Morning All, well you know what they say “reality bites”, yes I’m back at w**k and still daydreaming of my hols. I’ve nothing to complain about really though, w**k itself is fine, busy but not mind-wrecking.
PB says to say hi, I’ve been telling him all about my visit to Eva. He’s having a blast of a summer, his social calendar is full to bursting and I think he’s trying to achieve visiting friends in every county in Ireland, as well as a trip to Yorkshire next week. Seems getting a part-time job is not as high on his list of priorities as I’d like it to be!!
Baby Charlie is thriving, gaining weight and looking well but poor little mite still has this (possibly) reflux problem and is going through changes of clothes like nothing I’ve ever seen! The outfits I bought for him are perfect Eva, and I’ve also given my sis some more of PB’s stuff that I still had.
We (my Mum, sister and I) met for lunch in Marks on Wed and sat for nearly 4 hrs catching up. I have to say we laughed so much.... (warning - don’t read this if you’re eating or if you’re Jo) I had fed Charlie his bottle and having winded him successfully without getting myself splattered, thought I was doing quite well until about 15 mins later he “christened” my t-shirt. Having wiped him, I passed him over to sis while I cleaned myself up and he promptly put another load right in the crotch area of her jeans. She then passed him to my mum while she cleaned herself up and as my mum was sitting on the couch opposite me I suddenly noticed that his nappy area was looking wet and there was a little stream running down her trouser leg! Anyone watching must have thought we were a bit mad, we laughed so hard. Poor child though, he fell asleep in my arms but you can see that he’s having tummy cramps every so often by the way his legs jerk and his sleeping face contorts. They’re back to see the baby clinic doctor today so hopefully something will be recommended which will work.
Fingers crossed for Jane’s Ploppy, hope he is successful and as others have said, it is very encouraging that he got an interview so quickly.
Carol – ooohhmmms for your mum’s eye problems. I haven’t spotted what it is you are preparing a bonnet and costume for but I imagine “break a leg” might be a relevant message? And ditto to the requests for photos.
Jill – did you send us an updated photo of Toby? We’d love to see him now he’s a year old if it’s ok?
Auds – I’m very impressed at your long long name, you must be some kind of dignitary on the blog! Hope you get your techie issues sorted out. I see you were up at the Lido again, did you see that pic I took of you there? (coming out of the bushes!) it’s actually a lovely one.
Ali – ooohmms for your SinL, hope all goes well for them both.
Re the chirping cricket, to continue what we were saying on fb, one time when we didn’t have the silent ones for PB’s toads, my darling son hid one in my bedroom and I remembered only last night that we never did find it, or a corpse! I hated feeding them live to the toads also and on the occasion when PB was going away for three wks I got (stole) a few salad bar containers from the supermarket and got him to put the right number of crickets in each one so I’d only have to tip it over the tank when feeding day came.
I see I’ve missed Fi, hope she has a lovely weekend up in Scotland.
And the Giggles have checked in I see. Can’t believe they were back at Stobo, it’s so gorgeous, I’m a bit jealous. They must be recognised there now, esp after Lin’s antics in the bathroom of the Cashmere suite! And it’s Fringe time again, where has that year gone??
So Eva – are you enjoying having your peace and quiet back? I don’t know what happened to that text message, I certainly wasn’t awake to send it at 2am, I think it might have been around 8.30/9pm when I sent it. Have you heard from my fellow travellers? I gave them my mobile number in case they needed anything while they are here. So sorry I caused the breakdown of the vacuum cleaner but I still maintain that a four hour boil wash for my sheets was a bit OTT. As I said at the time, I did shower every day!
Great, BBBT has let me sign in very easily, ttyl.
Awww thanks everyone for the good wishes for my Ploppy. I have to confess though this interview is for a job he applied for before he got the bad news, just because he fancied it. Still it's very good luck that he did apply!
Well I was going to say thank you for your lovely long report K2 - but then I read the yukky bit! Oh well thanks anyway!
KK - I didn't see the lights either. Did you happen to hear a load of fireworks going off though? We heard, but didn't see them.
Aw Jill - that's rather sweet. I'm on my third wedding ring!
Carol, yes please to photos! I hope your sloppy can see OK once she's got her glasses sorted.
Still OOOHHMing for Ali's SiL and any needy loppies.
Have a good weekend Fi!
We're off to a medieval show this weekend. Flouncing about a castle. Hope every one has a lovely weekend!
Hello me dears. Sorry to be so late, but I was in a bit of a hurry this morning, so no time even to start the pooter.
It's raining, sunshine, raining, sunshine..........in other words one of those days when you can take half of your wardrobe with you and still get it wrong!
The morning has been spent with my parents. First there was the weekly shop to do with my mother, and when we got back to the house I decided to h****r and dust my car. As I'm sure K2 will remember, my first remark when I got in to the car (the Spanish/Norwegian one) was: My God, it's dusty! She laughed at me!
When my car was done, I thought I might as well do my father's too, so now the halo is shining brightly and the wings are itching!
Sue1,- I promise I'll take a leaf out of Ali's book (it was the take-it-easy leaf you meant, wasn't it?) when the summer house is sold and no longer our responsibility. As I said to Shirley on then phone yesterday, then I'll sit down with my feet up and loads of books to read,- for a week!
Carol,- sorry, I must have missed why you had to make a bonnet. Was this for MM or yourself? Is MM doing drag again?
TK,- did anyone answer your questions?
Fi,- have a lovely weekend up in Scotland.
I have, as far as I remember only seen the Northern Lights once here in Bergen. Usually you have to go much further up North to see them.
Jane,- 3 wedding rings? What did you do? Throw them at Ploppy when he misbehaved?
I hope the interview goes well for him.
K2,- glad the clothes fitted Charlie. They were so lovely. That was some story from the restaurant. At least you could laugh about it. I hope the doctor finds out what is wrong.
...right off to wedding (it's a Victorian one, hence the Victorian costume and bonnet making!) - will report back but at the moment in a panic as I can't find my camera!!
Lovely pics of your holiday K2 (on fb) so makes me want to go there.
Oohhmms for little Charlie. My eldest suffered terribly with colic for the first 3 months and youngest had reflux, we changed to a corn based formula and he was fine then.
3 wedding rings Jane? Ploppy is on his 2nd as he caught his 1st one on something at work and bent it too badly to be fixed. He doesn't wear it for work anymore.
Hope you found the camera Carol?
I've been sewing all afternoon, nothing exciting just some alterations for my nephew and loads of badges onto my sister's camp blanket - she should be ashamed of herself at not being able to sew!!
Another here been looking at K2s piccies, loved the one of the prawns , crab, and langoustines, all my favourites, will have to visit one of these days.
K2, the little baby across the road has this acid reflux thing, when it was hot and the windows were wide open you could hear the poor thing crying, I do think though it is something they grow out off, interesting though Ali that you said you put your Scollop on corn fed milk, if I see my Neighbour will pass the info on, I was thinking about your youngest today , I have been making chololate fairy cakes did I remember that he likes cooking?????Good also to hear that the baby is going to be delivered next week , lots of good wishes to Mother and baby.
I am also intrigued as to why Jane would be on her 3rd wedding ring, I feel quite lost without mine, I have to go back in a months time for them to put more gold onto the ring, then I will see if I have to have all my other rings made bigger.
K2,- you must send your pics to Martin for those of us who aren't on FB. Please?
Thank goodness today is over, it's been all doom and gloom as I've been in various meetings about budget cuts, staffing levels, deficits, cutbacks, and things are not looking good. My own job is reasonably safe, at the moment, for which I am very grateful (much as I moan about it) but I fear for the future of some of my team and the knock on effect for the rest of us!! We have some tough times ahead, as it seems so many of us do at the moment.
Anyway, enough of that, it's the weekend!!!!
Fi - have a wonderful weekend in Scotland. You certainly deserve a relaxing break!
Jill - aw, that's so sweet. Hope you get your ring back as quickly as possible.
Jane - three wedding rings!!!!!!!!!?????
Now you mention the fireworks Jane, I recall that yes I did hear them. Wonder what that was all about (other than the dr*g related connection-not that I have personal experience of these things of course!!). Hope Ploppy's interview went well. Flouncing about in a castle is right up your street. Have a great time.
Ali - glad SiL has got a date. Hope everything goes well.
My brother still hasn't told his wife about the new baby and there's only three months to go until it's born!!! (Of course, if you don't recall the story of my brother and the floozy, that statement is going to make no sense at all - obviously it's not the wife having the baby, somehow I think she'd know about that before he did!!).
I'm very envious of those who have seen the NL. It is something I have always wanted to see. It must be quite an awesome sight. Don't know if anybody saw the documentary that J*anna L*mley did a while ago, in which she went in search of the NL. I really enjoyed it, the scenery and the footage of the NL were stunning. Must put it on my to do list. Then again, I probably wouldn't be lucky enough to see them even if I was in the right place - we once went on a whale watching cruise when we were on holiday (can't remember where) and we didn't see a single whale!! I said that they should attract them by sonar or something - I know, that's silly, as you can't control them, and that's the chance you take, but I was very disappointed. We did see some dolphins though so that was a bonus.
I was telling a colleague today all about the concert in Skeggie and she asked if I'd spoken to Him again at the SD and I said that yes I had, she said "You must be on first name terms by now" I said, "Oh yes, we are, I call him Lee and he calls me Oh no, not you again"!!!!! A term of endearment, obviously!
Right, it's the weekend, the bar's open, gotta go.....................!!
Evening all, no I haven't been lunching all day honestly. I went back to friends house and was playing with Ari. But oh what a change in the weather, I was not very warm and that must be for the first time in nearly 3 months! Hope it warms up again soon.
Intrigued by Janes' 3 wedding rings. Do you think she has been married three times and not told us?
Ali too much information about feeding live crickets and K2 way too much information aboiut the baby accidents! Yew!
Lots of ohhhmmms for your SiL Ali. I bet you will all be very relieved when this is over, I'm sure the Mum will be!
Dxxtxxg and hxxvxrxxg cars Eva? I didn't know you had to do that, hummm, I'm sure it will not happen to my car, I have enough with the house thankyou.
KK sorry about your work situation, far too much of this about.
Pauline,- maybe you have a self cleaning car, like Jo's kitchen cabinets?
Oh K2, somehow to me cat regurgitation etc is no where near as yukky as baby ditto. I'm not too fond of dog regurgitation, but being dogs they usually deal with it themselves.
Re wedding rings, no idea how Jane does it. I have my grand mother's on, worn every day by her from 1919 until she died, then by my mum until she died, then by me. Jill, 45 years is a long time wear something and then have to have it removed. It'll soon be back.
I'll have to have a little dip into FB, I have an account (or whatever it is called).
Jane I hope the interview went well. Have a good weekend, you both need it.
KK, so many places are doing this sort of thing, very unsettling.
Carol, ditto what Jo said, photos please.
Jane, too late to wish your Ploppy well for the interview, hope it went ok. Too late to say have a good weekend as well. Story of my life really.
Karen you were up almost before sparrow f*rt as Eva would say.
Hope Fi has a good weekend, she really deserves a break.
Carol, yes it does make sense that Mum’s sight isn’t as good as it normally would be after removal of a cataract, but I would imagine that it has helped a bit. I don’t know a lot about MD just know m-o-l has it. As far as I know there are two sorts, one wet and one dry, and they can help one but not the other.
Ali, hope all goes well with your SiL, a worrying time until baby is here safely.
Oh Jill, no wonder you’re sad, but better that it fits you.
K2, say hi back to PB, glad his social life is busy, makes up a bit for the split with the GF. I laughed at the tale about Charlie, poor little lad though it’s not funny, hope they get him sorted out soon. Can we have the photos on Picassa please, can’t do FB.
Eva, yes the take it easy leaf, can’t imagine it will last for long though.
Karen, I know how you feel about your brother, slightly different circumstances but friends of ours split at Christmas, turns out she had someone else, and now she’s just moved in with him. Her son’s not really speaking to her, and obviously her hubby is distraught. We feel it a bit ‘cos we introduced them nearly twenty five years ago. It’s all the more traumatic as she’s Gordon’s other daughter. So you might say family life is a bit dramatic at the moment!
Love what you said about Lee, I have friends who think he must know me by now, oh I wish!!
I’ve never seen the Northern Lights although I lived in Newcastle on Tyne for some years, and apparently they can sometimes be seen from there.
We were in Cornwall for the ’99 eclipse, now that WAS stunning. We stood on top of the cliffs at St Agnes and watched the dark roll in from St Ives, I don’t think I have ever been so awed by anything in my life! I can remember seeing a partial eclipse when I was a schoolgirl, but never total dark.
Eva, my car is self cleaning, ask Ploppy!
Hi girls only a quick in , so sorry to be a mia but i always forgetwhat a lot of preparation the show demands.
I have not had time to read blog properly only skimmed so here is a lot of oooohhhhmmmmss for all those who need it.
Will tell you on Monday how the opening went!
lots of love sweet meads all.xx
Nite nite Loppies x
Hi to PB too.
Eva, my self cleaning cupboards are still working. Unfortunately the work top aren't self cleaning. My aunt used to have a hamster that lived in a cage on the worktop, she let it out from time to time for a run. The hamster used to eat some of the crumbs. So semi self cleaning work tops. This (non) cleaning thing must be genetic!
Poor Chantale, sounds like lots of rushing about is being done. Hope the show goes well.
I overslept again this morning. Must try harder to get up.
I'm trying an earlier night
Nightlee night
Off to bed as well. Ohhhmmmms for all who are in need of them. Night night and sleep tight.
This is a good idea for a web site

Also on the site is Kalin Twins vs Showaddywaddy
Good excure for eating cherries
http://www.choosecherries.com/health/main.aspx
'excure'? EXCUSE.
Morning all, and it is pretty miserable here, grey and a bit drizzly, though the forecast is for improvement. I live in hope.
An exciting weekend of w&i and other hxxsxxxk awaits, I know how to live. Mind I look on it as the price to be paid after my lunching in the week.
Chantale hope the opening goes well, fingers crossed. You deserve a howling success for all your hard work.
Hope Jane has a good weekend floncing around her castle. (I love the image that conjures up.
Oh my car doesn't get dirty Eva, well you can't see it, the colour is brlliant for that! Actually there is a group of Polish car cleaners in a car park of the Hxmxbase near me that do all of it for a very reasonabloe price. They are great.
Morning BHB yes I'm ready and willing for the staff meeting. We'll get a big jug of Vanillita and some pastries and we'll begin.
Morning all
The weather is pretty much the same here as yours Pauline, and I have a day ahead of me like yours too.
Mind you, after my Meady gallivanting of the last two weekends, much as I loved that, once the cl*aning is out of the way, I'm actually looking forward to a quiet weekend!!
Sue - oh dear, Gordon and his wife are really going through it at the moment. Sounds like lots of ohms needed for all the family.
Chantale - good luck for the opening, I'm sure it will be fantastic after all your hard work!
Jo - thanks for links. No comparison! I don't like cherries but maybe I should learn to!
Morning.
Yep grey and miserable south of London too.
Hope Carol's wedding goes well and it stays dry for the bride. Love to see some photos of your outfit, Carol.
Still can't sign in with LJ. Think I'll give up with it and stick to this one.
I have a pile of papers in front of me to deal with plus a bit of w*rk so only time for a quick visit, plus we're out tonight at an Indian restaurant with some friends in Surrey.
Don't think this has been posted before and I'm sure no-one will complain if it's a repeat. Very brief but wow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRGIEipndpQ
Thanks for the GMYAS link, Jo. I used to love DE's version but listening to it now (admittedly a live version), not so keen; much prefer Lee's.
Morning all. (Well, it still is in UK where most of you are!). It's a beautiful day here:
http://www.bt.no/kamera/article161.ece
and at the moment it's 21.2 degrees! Not often that happens, I can tell you.
Hello sweetheart. I'm just in time for an early lunch? How kind of you. You mean I should cook you an early lunch? That's a new twist. Does the Management know that you make the guests cook for you? N0? You want it to be our secret? ( I wonder what brought that on?)
I haven't had time yet to enjoy the nice weather, because I have been busy spending money. The new h****r is now in the house, and I've bought a new digital music centre. (I suppose it isn't called "music centre" any more ?) The old analogue one was so irritatingly bad that I decided I might as well splash out on a digital one now. It would have to be done in a few years time anyway.
Today I confirmed my Norwegian-ness,- I bought a ruck sack! (It's so funny in the airport arrivals lounge,- when you're waiting for your Norwegian guests to come through, you know they are close when the arriving passengers coming through are carrying ruck sacks!)
Jo,- I love cherries and could eat them every day, but they are so expensive here that it's only as the occasional treat to myself that I indulge. Fortunately you can buy frozen ones as well, and they are not too bad.
I think I prefer to clean my worktops myself. Hamsters doing it? No thank you!
Pauline,- we don't have Polish or any other kind of human car cleaners here. We have to use the petrol station machines which I don't like. I remember well Poppy's favourite Italian car cleaner in the car park in Deal. Oh, happy days! The insides I do myself.
Jo and Diana,- thank you for the links.
Now I'm going to make myself a herbal tea and take that and the newspaper out on the terrace. Yes, I'm going to practice being lazy!
It's about time you took life a bit easier Eva!
We picked middle scollop up from scout camp earlier. He's tired and has lost his voice as usual but appears to have worn the same few clothes all week so there isn't as much washing as I expected.
Youngest seems very pleased to have him home.
We've decided to have a relaxing afternoon then tomorrow we're going to blitz the scollop's bedrooms. I feel a trip to the charity shop and a full wheelie bin coming up! Hope eldest will appreciate it when he gets home next week. Somehow I doubt it!
Far too much hw*rk being done this weekend. I think I'll walk the dog instead
....Diana it still wont' let me in either (well it will from the upstairs pooter, not this one!!!). Wedding went really well - if you want to see piccies this is a link to the photos my friend took:-
http://www.kodakgallery.co.uk/ShareLanding.action?c=m34gzgnt.gtnxrm9t&x=0&y=kmi06i&localeid=en_GB
Hope it works! Fortunately the rain held off as the bride came in an open landau, and they both left in one. Quite a few of us were in costume, raised quite a few eyebrows when we walked from the car park to the church, which is in the middle of the town. We did explain to the other passengers in the lift that we were off to a Victorian wedding!! Quite a few passers by said how lovely we looked!! Now if you can view the photos the beautiful dfress worn my Susan, the bride, she made herself, she also co-made the three bridesmaid's dresses. During the signing of the register her two sisters from New Zealand entertained us - one played the piano and the other sang. After the ceremony, whilst the photos were taken and before the cake was cut, there was a Victorian tea served to everyone (some people were invited to the church and the tea, others to the church, the tea and the evening reception). After tea, the bride, groom and the bridesmaids all went off to a local park to have their photos taken around a Victorian bandstand - the rest of us headed off either home or to the Reception, which was in a marquee in the garden of one of the local pubs. So another walk through the shopping centre in our gear, then into the car (and cos I was wearing a hoop I had to sit in the back on my own in splendid isolation as I took up two seats!) and off to the Reception. Excellent speeches, a dj who played music I know and it was a really good evening. Now we have the final (fourth) wedding tomorrow afternoon!!
Carol,- good heavens,- don't the two of you look great! You must have had a lot of work to do to make that bonnet. Glad to hear you had a splendid time.
My father woke me up from my Eva. He couldn't rest because he'd been thinking about the sale of the summerhouse, so he wanted to put some new ideas to me. (If he couldn't rest, why should I?) I've tried to tell him that the matter and boundaries are settled, but either he forgets or chooses to ignore it, and gets quite shirty when I'm not as enthusiastic about his new solutions as he is. In the end I said Yes Daddy just to calm him down and promised to discuss it with the others.
Now I'd better not mention that I've tried out the new h****r, or Jo will take the dog for yet another walk!
Carol - you and MM look wonderful, I am so impressed with your outfits. And the bride looked beautiful. The pictures are lovely, thank you for sharing.
Good to see Eva and Ali relaxing for a change. After a day of cl*aning, I was about to do the same until I just spilled (spilt?) v*dka all over the laptop!! Aggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! What a waste of v*dka!!
Had a lovely time clearing my store cupboards this afternoon. I was chucking out a lot of old herbs and spices and various other things that had reteated to the back and been forgotten. Now all beautifully ordered and I have space...for now.
Brilliant pictures Twin. The bride looks terrific, clever thing, but for me the stars are undoubtedly you and MM. Fantastic!
Karen that is dreadful, I can't believe you could do such a thing.
Oh dear Eva, I hope things get settled for you with the summer house. You obviously aren't meant to relax at the moment. Keep trying though.
KK,- I agree,- it's alcohol abuse whether you spilled or spilt it!
Wow Carol, lovely pics and well done on your creativity.
What a waste of v*dka KK, tut tut!
As I have 2 weekends off work (bosses on holiday) we're having a pizza and dvd night, makes a nice change.
Great pictures Carol, what an unusual wedding, you and MM make a very handsome couple.
Hope you're enjoying your 'flouncing ' Jane'!
T hanks for the links Jo and Diana, definitely prefer the 'cover' version.
Glad you're having fun with your new h**ver Eva.
I've enjoyed having grandscollop here for a few days, WH was wonderful, even better than when I saw it before, and thankfully Joe liked it a lot too.
On Thursday we went to K*r*te K*d , not my choice but I have to fulfil my grandmotherly role of spoiling him rotten!
Tha sun's finally come out here, it's been a rather damp and cloudy week but think forecast better for next week.
I know, shame on me!!
Maeve - glad you had a good time with grandscollop.
It's so dark and gloomy here I've had to put all the lamps on already, it's only 7.30pm!! It's very nice and cosy but where did summer go!!??
Eva, I have already walked the dog again, I must have known what you were doing. Dog said she just had to go out after her tea, to tell her friends about the mince and rice she had for tea. The butcher in the village had some mince today, unlike last week, when he'd sold out. It is really strange going in there as his son now works with him The son looks just like the butcher did when I first shopped there.
Carol, you and MM looked amazing. The bride's dress was lovely. I took note of it before reading the rest of your post. A lovely day.
Maeve, did you enjoy K Kid? I like J Chan, so thought it might be good.
I've just tried to access my YT accounts. They have stopped the YT log in so you have to go in through GMail account. Rats, I've had to set up Gmail account for my non GO one, so it is a bit confusing due to the SL acount. Things were shutting down and opening like anything. Hope I've done it right.
I had to ask for help from my nice young neighbour when I started to assemble my new music centre. In the manual it said "join the silver cable to the + contact and the gold cable to the - contact". The only problem was that one cable was red and the other one white (ish) ! So what does a resourceful lady do? Ring the doorbell next door and ask for help! They are such a nice couple, and they both came in, bringing the baby monitor with them. Their little girl is 20 months old, and I was told today that no 2 is expected in January!
After Martin had fixed the right cables to the right contacts, we had a cuppa and a chat, listening to GO on the CD player. Wonderful sound!
I've just watched a program on the telly about a beauty pageant for children in UK. It was held last year in M*lton Keynes, and it was really shocking to see those little girls of 7 - 12 years being dressed and made up like adults. We followed three girls, and the most shocking was the naked ambition of the mothers and the way they drove their daughters to prepare for this pageant. One even had the local pastor praying for the girl to do well. None of the three we followed won anything, and their disappointment was painful to see. Why do parents put their children through this?
Well, it's bedtime here, so I'll bid you all good night, sleep tight, have wonderful dreams and wake up happy.
I'm off to the summerhouse again tomorrow morning and if I don't have time to pop in before I go, have a good Sunday all.
Just popping in to say I'm an Auntie again! SinL had a little girl by c section earlier this evening. Neve weighed in at 4 pounds 9 and a half ounces!! Both doing ok, we'll know more tomorrow.
Oh congratulations Auntie Ali! Neve is a lovely name too. Off to bed now so Sweet Meads all.
Good news Ali, they are both well. The little girl will put on weight soon, hope they have some baby grows of the right size, for the 2 weeks they will be needed before the next size.
Eva, what are neighbours for, if not to help out. I downloaded photos for the elves this evening and showed them how to use the macro setting on their camera.
Right I'm out early tomorrow.
Nightlee night
Oh Ali that is fantastic news. I love the name and bless the little one, 4lb 91/2 oz. How weeny is that. Many congrats to you all.
Very techy you have all been tonight. I have beendownloading things for my ipod, don't think that counts!
Off to bed as well so night night and sleep tight .
Morning. Overcast and gloomy at present but it's supposed to brighten up. Just before 7.00 pm it got very dark and absolutely chucked it down for a while. The garden certainly needed it.
Hope your Ploppy's interview went well, Jane, fingers crossed.
Good luck for the show, Chantale.
The Northern Lights are something I'd love to see. I also watched the programme with JL, Karen, and the NL were amazing, hadn't realised quite how fantastic they can be. Knowing my luck however they wouldn't appear for me. You can see them in Iceland but it was the wrong time of year when we were there.
Thanks for the photo link, Carol, you both look great. I've not come across a Victorian wedding before.
Congrats, Auntie Ali. Hope Neve's doing well.
Very good Indian meal last night, probably the best I've ever had. There were some unusual dishes on the menu, not at all a typical Indian.
Morning all. It's overcast and drizzling rain here at the moment. I hope it'll soon clear up, because I'll be off in a few minutes.
Hello sweetheart. Oh, you have decorated the Bistro nicely with pink balloons and bows. It's to celebrate the new member of the extended Loppy family, Neve? We'll make her a proper SL yet!
Ali,- congrats on the new family member. So relieved that it all went well so far, but my,- she is a small 'un.
Jo,- I'm impressed by your knowledge about baby clothes and how long they last. Do you have any secrets from us?
Bye for now. I'll be back moaning about sore muscles later!
Just a quick pop in to say Congratulations Aunty Ali, lots of best wishes to the Mummy and Baby Neve,a very pretty name, hope all goes well. Dollop was about that size when she was born, they just need lots of milk to get them going.
Morning all, overcast here but the sun is trying hard to make an appearance, so I hope it will get better as I want to do things in the garden later , if possible. Also hope the weather is good for the second wedding of the weekend Twin is attending. Nothing worse than a damp fascinator!
You remind me Diana I was going to say I saw that programme with JL which made me realise what I'd seen was a pale imitation of that, so would like to see them properly some day. Mind it looks like you have to get very cold to do so, which isn't so appealing!
Morning BHB, I know, late as usual, but it is Sunday. Loving the pink bows btw. I think we'll have champagne to wet the babys' head today, so you grab the glasses and some paninis and I'll get a few bottles and we'll sit on the terrace I think.
My isn’t it quiet here today? Couldn’t get on line last night, I think laptop’s kn*ckered, need a nice new netbook!
Thanks for the links Jo, I quite fancy GMYAS on my phone but it’s a subscription service, and I can’t be bothered to read the terms and conditions. Very interesting facts about cherries though.
Diana, thanks also for your link, mmmm.
Carol, the photos are lovely, thanks for sharing.
Karen, I wonder if a drop of vodka would speed my laptop up at all?
Eva, it beats me why mothers (and some fathers) push their kids to do these adult things, the ones who push them on to programs like BGT are as bad. I know sometimes the kids are as keen as their parents, but often not.
Ali, lovely news, welcome to little Neve.
Back in a bit.
I'm back. I actually rode M today. I thought I'd better do it before she has the op on her foot. (The infection has come back, so lots of underneath foor has to be cut away to get rid of the infection.) Also been to see the old ladies a bit earlier than normal. It has got rather hot here.
Hi all
Aunty Ali - that's brilliant news and what a beautiful name. Hope mother and baby are doing well.
Sue - I wouldn't recommend Vodka on the laptop - mine packed up last night and it's taken me all day to get it working again!! I don't think it was very impressed with it's Vodka bath!
I seem to be having a weekend of incohol related mishaps (and they've happened before the incohol was imbibed not as a result of!), I stabbed my palm with the sharp end of a corkscrew at lunchtime!!
Jo - glad you got to ride M. The foot sounds nasty. Hope she's okay.
Congratulations Ali and SiL, is that the first girl in your family? Neve is a lovely name and easier for people to pronounce than the Irish spelling, (Niamh.)
Jo KK wasn't bad if you like that sort of thing, I wasn't as bored as I had expected to be.
Weather here brighter and dry, I 've been doing lots of i and w, ing in preparation for holiday next week.
I'm back too. Are you ready for me moaning?
No, I daren't tell you what I've been up to today, or Jo will be out walking Shannon until Doomsday! Sufficient to say there are still more work to do, but we're slowly getting there. There was a good show of the family today,- at one time there were 10 of us painting, scrubbing, sorting, hacking away at the undergrowth etc. etc. Will I be glad when it's all over? We are selling 1 acre of land with the summerhouse and boathouse, and of course we want it to look presentable.
Jo,- poor Megan. That foot sounds nasty. Hope they can help her. Is it painful for her? Please give her an extra carrot from me.
Maeve,- thank you for explaining how to pronounce Neve. I was wondering, but actually thought of Niamh.
KK,- incahol-induced mishaps? You? Well, I never!
Well I have an aching back again after grafting in the garden but having read what you've been up to Eva I think I will shut up as you put me to shame!
Jo poor Megan, I hope they manage to sort her foot out for her, nice that you could ride her today at least.
So pooters don't like vodka....maybe they prefer gin?
Evening. Thanks for all the good wishes. I did try to persuade SinL to spell Neve the Irish way but she thought nobody would be able to pronounce it! This is the second girl in the family as SinL has a 12 year old from a previous relationship. I've been sent a piccy of the new arrival on my phone and she is gorgeous. No special care is needed at present and she has been feeding well so far. Looking forward to having a cuddle, maybe next weekend when they hope to be home. The hospital are very strict on visitors and MinL was very upset not to be allowed in this afternoon.
Had a day cleaning and sorting scollop's rooms. OMG who thought they could make so much mess and accumulate so much junk! I had to send ploppy out for new supplies of bin liners at one point. Tomorrow we have a trip to the charity shop. They'd better not undo all the good work or else!
Sloppy came round for tea and we wet the baby's head with a bottle of fizz, feeling a bit fuzzy now so I'm going to put my feet up.
Eva - I'm exhausted just thinking about all that w*rk!!
Pauline - hmm, you may be right about the gin, but I'm not going to try it, my laptop still has a headache from it's vodka binge!! It's going verrrry slow!
Ali - I prefer the spelling Neve, I think it looks prettier than Niamh (if that makes sense!).
LJ won't let me sign in again this evening.
KK, my SinL has a funny idea about spelling anyway as eldest niece is called Elle, but pronounced Ellie!
I have a bit of a thing for Irish names but Ploppy drew the line at some of my suggestions as he said scollops wouldn't be able to spell their own names let alone anyone else being able to pronounce them!
Eva, sounds like you have had a busy day. I have been walking dog a bit today, so I must have known. She has frightened 2 women today, by bounding up to say hello. She just doesn't understand that some people are frightened by large dogs. Even if there is an idiot running behind her shouting 'she's got no teeth'. She ran up to a couple of toddlers about the same height as her. They were fine with her. Don't worry I knew them and knew they were fine with her. The women saw this happening, hope they felt a bit embarrassed. Dog thinks that anyone in the park is there to stroke her.
I have spent the last hour getting to know Mr S. Mr T has stopped selling dog's favourite cat food. Mr A and Mr W don't sell it either, so I have transferred to Mr S. I'll see how it goes.
One of the chaps at work had a boy about 5 years ago. He wanted to call him a Polish name. The boy is 2nd generation to live in England. The chap gave us lots of names. I said that for the boy's sake he should choose a name that was the same in English as it was in Polish, or he'd have to spell his first name AND his last name every time he used it. The chap wasn't sure, but in the end (about 4weeks after the birth) they chose Adam. OK it is pronounced differently, but at least the boy, when he grows up, can choose how he says it when he gives his name.
Eva, how do I know about baby clothes? Baby=kitten=puppy and they all grow very quickly.
Eva, that sounds like hard work!
Jo, hope Megan will be ok, will the surgery sort her out?
Didn't get back from m-o-l's till half past eight, so just popped in to say nite nite Loppies x
Hi all,
I'm back from what turned out to be a lovely show - even though the heavens opened on saturday a drenched us all through.
I'm not going to be able to catch up on the blog properly - but I've had a skim through.
CONGRATULATIONS Ali 0n your new neice!
Carol - I gather the wedding was lovely. I'll have to look at your piccies.
Ploppys interview went well - he thinks. He was the last one to be seen so hopes to hear very soon. Thank you all for your good wishes.
Oh and the wedding three rings:
The first on was to modern looking so I couldn't wear it for medieval weekends. I took it off before one show and then couldn't find it again.
The second was a medieval style ring I had specially made in silver - but I got a rash under it because I was wearing a silver ring constantly. I still have it.
The third is my mum's wedding ring from her marriage to my dad. That's the one I wear now.
Sweet Meads all
Just watched SH. Brilliant! think a series must be on the way, goody.
jane nice to see you back. Glad your Ploppy is happy with his interview. Ohhhhmmmms that he gets the job. Thanks for the rings explanation. Simples really when you know!
Time for my bed I think, so night nioght and sleep tight all.
Jane glad you had a good weekend. Thanks for solving the ring mystery.
Yes Pauline, SH was good again. I must go too
Nightlee night
Morning all, it is really quite nice here at the moment though I think it might rain later.I know don't faint but I'm early for a very good reason.
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Twin
Happy Birthday to yooooooouuuuuu!!!
Have a wonderful day with lots of incahol.
Soryy, I don't usually sing and now you know why. Felt I should make the effort for Twin though, Oh she has cotton wool in her ears now so maybe it wasn't such a good idea.
Morning BHB, Oh you look so special, he is wearing a pink shirt in honour of the CM and he has decorated the Bistro in varying shades of pink, with pink and silver balloons and streamers. The tables even have lovely pink roses on them and everything looks beautiful. He has cooked double chocolate cake and carrot cake and there is Italian icecream with a caramel sauce. We have lots of champagne on ice and the terrace is even bedecked with flowers and balloons. We will get a few bottles of champagne and go on the terrace and wait for her.
Ali Brilliant CONGRATULATIONS !!!
Opening very well recieved but sales very slow this year, lets hope it ill pick up.
and NOW>>>>>>>.......
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CAROL . Have a brilliant day .xxxxx
Got to go bye for now....
Morning everyone and thank you soo much for the cards and ecards. Running somewhat behindhand today as Baby B said I could come in later after yesterday's wedding (we arrived home about 11.45pm). First Hxnxu wedding I've been too but bride looked spectacular and food (Indian of course) was delicious if somewhat hot and spicy!! Right better get to wxrk. Bistro looks wonderful, thank you BHB, now I'll just come and join you and the DCM on the terrace with a glass (0k jug) of cool champers!
Morning All
Just a quick pop in, couldn't miss wishing Carol a lovely day, Breithla Shona Dhuit. Hope everyone is nice to you today.
Congrats Ali on your new niece, lovely choice of name and while it would be nice to give it the original spelling, I can well understand their decision. Hope Mum and tiny baby continue to do well.
I've had a very full weekend, the boring bit was catching up on housework and laundry but the nice part was seeing Charlie and taking him for a long walk yesterday which gave his mum & dad a chance to do some organising for taking him to over to Sheffield for a wedding this week. Also, very chuffed as they've asked me to be Godmother.
Ok, better go, lots of w**k to be done. Hope everyone's well, ooohmmmms where needed. ttyl
Morning.
Quick pop in to wish Carol a very happy birthday. Have a lovely day, Carol.
Morning all
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL. Have a wonderful day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL, hope you have a lovely day, are you lunching today?????
I cannot sign in either but I think it has something to do with an e mail from LJ ABOUT A purge on I/D or something I really don't understand but then I am not the brightest button on the cardigan, if anyone knows what to do can they please advise.
Morning all. It's overcast here, but no rain. The temperature is +15.3 degrees.
Hello sweetheart. I know, I know I'm late, but I had a duvet morning. I was very tired last night after all the w*rk being done, so I went to bed just after 9pm! I woke up around 2am, but instead of stressing about it, I made myself a chamomile tea and read for about an hour and then fell asleep again. I treated myself to a leisurely breakfast in bed. Feeling ready to face the day now, so here I am.
First things first:
CAROL,- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
GRATULERER MED DAGEN
Have a lovely and incahol-filled day, and enjoy yourself.
I went to a couple of Indian weddings some years back (to friends of Shirley) and it was spectacular. It was a good thing they handed out a "book of ceremonies" so that we could follow what went on. I felt a bit sorry for the bride and groom, because they were sitting on a platform for hours, while the rest of us were free to move around.
About yesterday:
I've told you before how much I like the nerd's girlfriend, and when they came out to the summerhouse yesterday, she asked me what she could do. I said if she didn't mind, she could help sorting out the books into different stacks on the floor. "Mind?", she said, " I LOVE books, so this isn't work, this is heaven!" I said she had chosen the right family then, and she said that she had known we'd get along just fine when she'd seen my bookcases for the first time. Sensible girl!
It was a delight watching her sitting on the floor, happily going through the books, reading a bit here, exclaiming over another one. As there were 6 bookcases to sort through, she was happily employed for hours.
Pauline,- who or what is SH?
K2,- you'll do fine as Charlies Godmother. You had good training with Poppy!
Sorry Eva, it is a series of three the Beeb has been showing over the lasty three Sundays called /Sherlock. It is an updated Holmes set in modern times. The whole thing is quite brilliant and I think up your street. It has had glowing reviews. This link may explain more.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-10724614
Pauline,- thank you for the link and the explanation. Maybe it'll come out on a DVD and I can order it then. A*azon keeps me updated about new releases.
Now as it happens Eva!
http://www.bbcshop.com/drama+arts/sherlock-dvd/invt/bbcdvd3223/?gclid=CJDoqrukrKMCFSU_lAodQ34B5w
Pauline,- thank you. It is now ordered!
Happy Birthday Carol,
I hope you have a lovely day, though I see you are hard at work, hope you're having a treat this evening.
Happy Birthday Carol.
Had a successful shopping trip and got the scollop's school trousers, daren't leave it too late or the shops run out of the sizes we need. I also picked up a lovely little pink outfit for Neve. It's the only chance i get to buy anything pink!
The flies are driving me mad again today, so many of them. I resorted to a dose of spray and came home to dozens of bodies to be brushed up.
Congrats on being asked to be Charlie's godmother, K2. Ploppy has been asked to be godfather to my sister's baby when he is born. I'm already godmother to Oliver. Sinl didn't have eldest niece christened so not sure if Neve will be either.
Hi again, I should be w*rking but with the day I'm having, I'm rebelling!!
Anyway, hope the birthday girl is having a good day.
Ali - I have a colleague whose daughter is called Elle and she pronounces it Ellie (another pretty name).
Funny about names and their spellings, isn't it. I guess it's all just down to personal preference. A bit like the pronunciation of names, I know people who spell their name the same way as I do but pronounce it like "care" - care-n (but with a K) not Ka-ren. Each to their own, I say! (Hy*cinth B*cket/B*uquet would, no doubt, agree!!).
Jo - I love the image of you running after the dog warning people that she has no teeth!! The dog has a favourite cat food!!??
Jane - glad you had a good show and thank you for the explanation of the three weeding rings! The things you actors have to do for your art, I would never have thought about a wedding ring being too modern for a medieval show. I bet the medieval ring that you had made is lovely.
I loved Sh*rlock too. I hope they make it into a longer series! Why is that when TV comes up with a really good show, it only has a short run and yet they show other drivel for weeks and weeks!!!
Chantale - glad the opening went well. Ohhhmmmmsss that sales pick up.
Is it time to go home yet.............!!
Just a flying visit to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Queen of the Lushes. Hope you have a great time Carol.
And thank you for the OOHHMMS for my ploppy's interview
Must dash - we have a financial advisor coming tonight.
KK, that reminds me of when I worked in Customer Services for an electricity supplier. I had a very rude and obnoxious customer who said his name was Mr Ferray. When I asked him to spell it for me he said f.e.r.r.e.t, " oh" I said loud enough for the other customers to hear, "you mean ferret!" his face was a picture! My father was very careful with our names as my mother picked two names for me but with my surname my initials would have been ARS! And the same thing happened with eldest scollop who would have had the initials SOD if Ploppy hadn't pointed it out!
Evening all. It has been a beautiful day here with not a cloud in the sky. Sadly it has now clouded over, but it was lovely while it lasted.
Karen, I am alomost sure that I read that a series was commissioned before they ran this one, hopefully it will be longer next time. Agree about drivel going on forever though! Sorry work is so rough, thank ghoodness for incahol, I say.
Ohhhmmms sales pick up Chantale, hard times at the moment all round I think.
I have ordered myself another DVD player today, well went posh and got a blue ray. When I got my new tv it only has one scart socket which I need for my sky+, now it is all leads instead. So old dvd player now defunct. It isn't more than about 3 years old either, grrrr!
Ali - love the Mr Ferray story. Not everyone has the foresight of your father and Ploppy - I am often amused by some of the names that cross my desk at w*rk - R*ch*rd (who calls himself D*ck - I kid you not) Head (he obviously has a sense of humour but when I had to ring him I refused to ask for D*ck Head! well you wouldn't would you!) and Rod D*ck, to name but two!!
Pauline - that's good news, I hope so too. And, I echo that sentiment!! Cheers. Blue ray, huh, ooo, get you! I've heard of it but have no idea what it does.
Karen not too sure I know what it does either! But it plays dvds so that is all that matters, oh and it isn't one of the very expensive ones, believe me.
I used to work with a Richard Head as well, often wondered what his parents were thinking. I also many moons ago kmknew a Sidebotham family who insisted they were called Sid e both arm, if that makes sense, well they didn't but hope you get the gist!
HeHe, love it, Pauline!
Happy Birthday Carol. (Late as usual!!)
Did you know we are 'young teens '?
http://just4moms.net/?p=4251
Eva re SH. If I'd been home for the first one I would have recorded it. I had somewhere MUCH more exciting to be. I didn't record the others as I thought you really needed to see the first one. Shame it is only 3 so far as it was excellent. I have asked at work if anyone had recorded it, but as it was so good and was well advertised, all that are interested in that sort of thing have watched it live.
Oh dear Jo, having babies obviously addles brains (well except for those babies affiliated to Loppies of course - K2, Ali etc)- what was the woman talking about? Had a very nice lunch thank you all - just me and Baby Boss and some pink incoholic stuff......not sure what it was as, as you know, I don't have incohol very often. Now don't laugh but MM asked me what I wanted to do this evening. Well I didn't want to go for a meal as I had been out to lunch. We are going to see Dirty D on Wednesday, and of course we have been out and about a fair bit this weekend, so I am having a night in, with a bottle of Dom Perignon (currently chilling). Am about to put feet up and watch Shxrlxck final epsiode on i player - bliss!!!
Sounds like a lovely night in, Carol.
I have a new elf!! I will call her 'small elf' as she is tiny. I went down the garden this evening to do my checking and clear up what is found. Tonight dg poo, cat s*ck and a dead juvenile r*t. Average haul. Anyway the garden was nicely cleared down part of the left side. I thought, the elves have been at it. This evening female elf said it was the lady the other side. I like having garden elves. I really need a set of house elves too.
Jo I got that g**gle alert too, and there was another para. which seems to contradict the first part:-
"I saw Joseph a couple of weeks ago and Lee totally carried the show. Without him it would have been dreadful - with him it was great. Jodie will be a one-hit wonder. Big mistake in the show's conception to leave the final decision to the public - Lloyd Webber and Mackintosh should have picked and would have chosen Jessie."
All rather weird and obviously quite old.
Your evening sounds great Carol.
Another fan here of SH, mind you I've been a fan of BC for a while.
Ali, Mr Ferray must be a friend of Hyacinth Bouquet.
Good luck with the show Chantale.
Feeling v.annoyed as have just seen that a new top I bought this pm. has an alarm tag on it, (which didn't work whenI left the shop) it has a warning that any attempt yo remove will cause ink to be spilt, and could be dangerous; so now I have to go back to the shop tomorrow to get it removed and I can't find the receipt, not sure I was given one and I 'm really busy tomorrow with scollop and son coming for the night and taking me back to theirs ready for journey to airport on Thurs, grrrr. Sorry rant over!
I missed the other paragraph Maeve. Re SH, I thought BC would make a good DW, it came to me when I saw him on the one show
Right must get sleep, Nightlee night
Just popped in quickly to say Happy Birthday to Carol, late as usual, hope I've not missed her.
Off to catch up, back in a bit.
....no you have caught me Sue!! Dom P was delish, and SH was fantastic but how could they!!!!! Really enjoyed our evening in but now bed calls. Sweet Meads all.
I must say the Bistro looked especially nice today.
K2, congratulations on the godmother invite, and thanks for sharing the holiday photos.
FLIES, Ali, you have my sympathy.
Karen, our godchildren’s mum is called Karen pronounced Care-n, apparently it’s the Welsh way of pronouncing it. Gordon is Welsh.
Ali, love the story of Mr Ferret, served him right.
Thanks for the link Jo, glad that woman said it was just her opinion! You are lucky to have elves, I have kitchen fairies, but no elves.
Maeve, I get a lot of ancient G**gle alerts for Lee. How annoying about the top.
Glad I caught you Carol, now bed is calling me too. Nite nite Loppies
There are some very deluded people around Jo!
Right bedtime for me. I have one man arriving in the morning to look at some repairs I need to the bay window and another arrivingf in the afternoon. as long as they don't turn up at the same time!
Bedtime for me too so night night and sleep tight.
Morning all. It looks nice on the outside today, so I hope it lasts. A bit cooler though, + 12.7 degrees. I'd rather have that than the scorching temperatures they are suffering in Central and Southern Europe!
Hello sweetheart. I see you've taken down the decorations from yesterday. Do you have any blue balloons left? You see, my friend Kari in Deal has a birthday today and I just sent her a text. She'd be delighted to know that a balloon went up for her in the Bistro. She knows we are slightly mad, but since she met some of you at the Cliffy concert at the O2, she also knows that we are very nice people!
I'm off in a few minutes to see the estate agent. There are quite a few things yet to formalize, and I have to go back to the nice lady in the council office. Yesterday I went through the old deeds with the boundaries, and discovered that a mistake had been made about the boathouse. I don't think it will be a problem to right it, but it still has to be done.
Jo,- I had to laugh when I read that blog! She is obviously deluded, especially about GO and Jodie P*enger. Both have done so well after the TV shows, but since this seems to be an old post, maybe she's woken up to reality by now?
Pauline,- two men visiting in one day? You naughty lady! Will they be as good-looking as "my" electricians, carpenters, gas men etc. seems to be? Tell, tell.
Maeve,- is that the NY trip you're getting ready for?
Eva what can I say. I do my best to keep the DCM on the straight and narrow but when I am forced to wxxk she gets two men in straight away! I promise to try and reform her!! Of course we will send a blue balloon to Deal, in fact the BHB has found a nice silver one so with a fair wind and favouring breeze they should arrive in Deal mid morning! Didn't get around to telling you about Sunday’s wedding. It was quite different to Friday. The ceremony took place in an hotel in S Kensington in their conservatory on the first floor so it was lovely and airy. The bride is Hxndx and the groom Txmxl so it was a sort of combined ceremony with large chunks omitted led by a Hxndx priest who is head of the British Council of Hxndx priests (he broadcasts for the BBC). He was excellent as he appreciated there were a lot of non Hxndx there and explained everything as he went along. Vanita, the bride looked amazing. Her sari for the ceremony was gold with red and gold crystals on it – first time we have seen her with make up on too! After the ceremony they took photos and we had a champagne and canapés (Indxxn) in the conservatory. Then they went to get changed (bride into a traditional white sheath wedding gown with gold embroidery) and we carried on with the drinking until we were summoned downstairs to the dining room for the main dinner (also Inxxan). Food was excellent and the dessert was lovely. Then we had the speeches and the bride and groom opened the dancing with a choreographed Dirty D number! Did our share of bopping, drinking and chatting and then our car came for us at 11pm. Hence the late night! Well that was the last of my weddings this summer - phew! Proved to be an expensive time, what with outfits, presents, overnight stays, hire cars!! Today I am taking some of the office for drinks (yes Jo for my usual DC of course). Remiss of me yesterday to say Congrats to K2 on being asked to be G Mother to Charlie! Oh yes and it is pouring with rain here today and I had a KK moment at the station barriers as my case become wedged in the gates and the man behind had to help me struggle to extracate it .......meanwhile large queue of commuters forming behind him!! Managed to get it out eventually, say thanks to the man and then do a runner!! Right BHB time for the staff meeting I think. I see we have jugs of English Tea Party this morning, so you bring those, I'll bring the paninis and we'll go and wait for the DCM.
